NAA ASHORKOR: WHY I LOVE MY HUSBAND-TO-BE

Starr princess Naa Ashorkor Doku Mensah is getting married to her best friend Ahuma Cabutey Adodoadji in Accra on Saturday, October 4, 2014.

Naa and Cabutey have been an “inseparable force” since they met nine years ago at the Ghana Institute of Journalism, according to a close friend.

“Naa met him on her first day on Campus. Cabutey was in his final year then. They became friends and two years after, they started dating. They have been together for seven years now.”

Naa in an interview on Starr FM said she is drawn to Cabutey because he is an intelligent man. “He’s intelligent, he’s super smart, he has a great brain and I think that’s what drives me crazy.”

She said although she feels anxious about the union sometimes, she is happy she will finally get to spend the rest of her life with the man who makes her happy.

“Generally, I feel different things at different times. Sometimes I’m extremely excited, sometimes I feel happy and sometimes I feel some calmness in my heart because I feel that I’m finally going to legally spend the rest of my life with my best friend and someone I have known for years, love and appreciate.”

“As other times I feel confused. I think it’s a natural thing. But more than anything I am happy,” she stated emphatically.

Naa is definitely considering making some Adodoadji babies!

“It means spending the rest of my life with someone I love and appreciate, perhaps starting a family.”

The beautiful actress and talk show host said growing up, she had a different idea of what she wanted in a man but Cabutey came along and changed that criteria.

Cabutey is not the tall, deep voiced prince charming she thought but princess Naa is positive she wouldn’t trade him for anything in the world.

“I realise now that what I thought I wanted is not actually what I want. I’m a very simple girl and I appreciate simplicity in everything. So I realise now that I just want someone I can be happy with and that’s what I have and I’m grateful to God for giving me this.”

“I have the best conversations in my life with him. And I think he likes the fact that we can talk for hours about nothing and still have a great conversation.”

EMPIRE ENTERTAINMENT RESPONDS TO DOBBLES BREAK UP CLAIMS

Over the years, duos and groups such as Akyeame, Echo, Klala, Praye, Wutah, D3 and a host of others have separated and taken up solo music careers.

However, a musical duo that is still strong and churning out hit after hit in the spirit of unity is Dobble. Dobble burst out onto the music scene with its first single 'walai talai' and since then, it has moved from one level to the other on the ladder of success even though they are yet to be accorded the necessary recognition.

About two weeks ago, RTP Awards-nominated Radio Entertainment Talk Show Host, Sammy Flex interviewed the Ghanaian duo Dobble on the best entertainment show in Ghana, Flex On Pluzz and among other things, Dobble revealed that they are no more under the umbrella of Bola Ray's Empire Entertainment.

That was quite of a shocking news as many believe that Empire Entertainment is a reputable record label that can help Dobble become a household name.

But deeper investigations by your authoritative Flex Newspaper, has revealed that in as much as the contract between Empire Entertainment and Dobble expired in April 2014, their marriage is far from over as both parties are still in talks to ensure that the contract is renewed.

Speaking to the Assistant Record Label Manager of Empire Entertainment, Emmanuel Kwasi Kwarsie in an exclusive interview, he revealed that under Empire Entertainment, Dobble has released singles such as 'walai talai', 's3k3', 'emana', 'spark ma motor', 'wop3 eyi', 'asor' featuring Guru and Gasmilla, 'deepest side' featuring Shatta Wale, 'good mood', etc.

And with all things being equal, it's expected that as planned, Dobble will release its first album with Empire Entertainment still being its record label.

He noted that, for this reason, Empire Entertainment is most likely to renew the contract it had with Dobble adding that the first album from Dobble, which has already been completed, will be a double album titled 'Africa to the World'.

It's hoped that with the release of 'Africa to the World', the real worth of Dobble as a duo would be felt. As and when the contract between Dobble and Empire Entertainment is renewed, Flex newspaper will be the first media house to let you know.

I NEVER CHEATED ON MY HUSBAND – INO EDO

Nollywood actress Ini Edo is dispelling rumours that she cheated on her husband leading to their five-year marriage breaking down.

News emerged Wednesday that Ini Edo's marriage to her US-based husband Philip Ehiagwina has crashed.

Reports said the couple, who lived separately for most of their marriage, decided to formally split in August this year.

The couple was said to have been having problems for quite a while because of trust issues - a major contributor to the divorce. Ini's family is said to have returned the bride price Philip paid in 2008.

As if to confirm the reports, Ini removed her husband's name from her social media accounts. She also removed the status ‘wife’ from her biography on Instagram.

Speaking on the divorce for the first time, the renowned actress posted on microblogging site Twitter Thursday that the divorce was due to irreconcilable differences.

According to her, “There is a conscious n malicious attempt at tarnishing my image. this whole saga is familiar let's not forget de past. thanks n God bless”.

Ini Edo added that, “I asked for a divorce from my ex-husband cos of lots of irreconcilable differences. i never cheated on my husband.”

Ini and Philip did not have any children together.

I NEVER MET BLACK STARS IN BRAZIL – BECCA

Energetic Ghanaian singer, Rebecca Acheampong, popularly known as Becca on Thursday told the Justice Dzamefe Commission that the World Cup Ambassadors did not have the opportunity to meet the Black Stars players in Brazil.

Becca, who was one of 14 people chosen by the Ministry of Sports as brand Icons for the Brazil 2014 World Cup project, was accused of having engaged in sex frolic with a Black Stars player in the South American country.

The chairman of the three-member body, Justice Dzamefe asked, “did you ever have the chance of meeting the Black stars?” of which Becca responded: “No… we did not have the opportunity to meet them, my Lord.”

The Ambassadors were approached by the ministry to rally support for the Black Stars, as well as help raise funds and brand Ghana for the project in June/July.

Their role in Brazil as stated in Becca's 'appointment letter' includes:

1. The promotion and marketing of Ghana’s participation for the World Cup.

2. Creating and enhancing corporate involvement in Ghana’s preparation and participation for the championship.

3. Make public appearances and represent the minister and for that matter the government at every event to promote the World Cup.

4. Serve as a key motivator and inspirer for the Black Stars and also rally all of Ghana behind the team.

5. Be a symbol of all that is Ghanaian and sell Ghana to the outside world. Grant interviews and appear on the media and other social networks to promote the Black stars and the country as a whole.

Justice Dzamefe, however, overruled a question posed by one of the commissioners requesting Miss Becca to use the opportunity to clear “any rumour” making the rounds about her conduct in Brazil.

The judge explained, he intervened because he did not want the commission to drift from the main reason they called the singer before the commission.

“Please to all sitting here, I have to apologise to Commissioner Kofi for overruling his question because we don’t want to stray into anything… no that’s not why we invited her so we don’t want to go into anything,” he said.

HAMMER: MOST GHANAIAN MUSICIANS ARE NOT PROFESSIONALS

Award-winning sound engineer, Hammer of ‘Last Two’, has stated that most of the musicians in Ghana do not attach any professionalism to the trade.

According to him, most of these artistes now do their music in a freestyle manner and noted that this is affecting the industry.

Edward Nana Poku Osei, as he is known in real life, disclosed that he had converted his ‘Last Two Music Group’ studio into a private one which allows him to handpick certain breed of artistes who are creative and exhibit professionalism when it comes to music.

He indicated, “It seems to us that most of the artistes now do things like the freestyle; they just do things from the head. The way they go about their stuff is not quite professional, so we decided to go back and deal with artistes that we feel deserve to work with us.

Adding, “I don’t do mass production. My studio is a private studio now, and I have the power to choose who I want to work with. It is not like the commercial studio that you can walk into and just pay money and record."

"We are quite ‘choosey’. We want a particular breed of artiste to work with. About professionalism and creativity, we want a certain calibre of artistes,” he told NEWS-ONE.

Hammer is one of the producers responsible for training and producing some of Ghana’s recognized Hiplife acts like Obrafour, Edem, Okra Tom Dawidi and Kwaw Kese among others.

His ‘Last Two’ record label recently signed on new lyrical soldier, Teephlow.

SHATTA WALE CONTRACT IN DANGER

Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited (GGBL) has started top level meetings over a possible review of a recent contract the company signed with Ghana’s reigning Artiste of the Year, Shatta Wale, to make him an ambassador of the ‘Guinness #MadeOfBlack’ campaign, NEWS-ONE has gathered.

Though the company has not issued an official confirmation, a source at the management level told NEWS-ONE there has been concerns as to whether the artiste’s recent public conduct and utterances reflect what Guinness stands for.

“Even before he was signed, there was a split opinion; but within the last week, the complaints and feedback have been disturbing and all options are now on table on how to protect the brand’s reputation and image,” the top management source noted.

Guinness Ghana recently announced the company had signed BBnZ’s EL, Reggie Rockstone, Fuse ODG and Shatta Wale as ambassadors for the #MadeOfBlack campaign.

“The four ambassadors will lead the conversation with their own #madeofblack selfie videos in which they will ask Ghanaians what they are made of. Consumers can get involved by uploading their own selfie videos. If your video is selected, you could see it shown on MTV Base during the Guinness Hour Black in October,” Judith Osei Ampofo, Ag Marketing Director for GGBL, explained at the unveiling ceremony.

On whether there has been any official petition presented against Shatta Wale, the source said there was none but added that there had been rising verbal complaints from various people. The source further stated that the current self-made videos the artiste is publishing on his social media sites have become a major issue of concern.

“We selected him because we wanted to ride on the fact that he was underground for ten years but remained resolute and determined to make it to the top and eventually his dreams came to pass. We felt that attitude of determination, strong will power and positivity reflects our brand.

But the feedback is not exactly what we expected; and the complaints keep rising.

The concerns have been whether our brand represents and endorses his public outbursts, insulting nature, usage of vulgar words on media platforms and taking videos of himself insulting and running down other companies, some of which are our stakeholders, clients and customers,” the source added.

Shatta has been in the news for the wrong reasons in recent times, the latest being his selfie videos in which he made rather defamatory statements against several persons.

The artiste incurred the wrath of many journalists when he recently took to his official facebook page to write: “IN FACT GHANA MEDIA IS THE MOST FOOLISH MEDIA I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE…ANY MEDIA THAT PUBLISH ANY FAKE NEWS ABOUT ME SHATTA WALE IS A PUSSY…!!! I HAVE SAID IT…PUSSY.” Surprisingly, the first person to like the statement on Shatta Wale’s wall was Bull Dog, his manager.

The artiste shot to fame about two years ago when he vandalised property at the International Conference Centre after it became evident that he had lost the Dancehall Artiste of the Year to his fellow musician, Kaakie.

He followed that up by insulting Kaakie and making a couple of nasty comments about her genitals. He went as far as releasing a song in which he insulted Chater House, organisers of the award.

MY WORLD CUP AMBASSADORIAL WORK WAS VOLUNTARY BUT I WAS PAID $3,750 - BECCA

Songstress Rebecca Acheampong, popularly known on stage as Becca, has disclosed that she was paid $3,750 for her services an ambassador for Ghana’s participation at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

The $3,750, according to her, was the total sum of $250 she received as per diem for 15 days during her stay in Brazil.

The songstress was among 14 persons selected by the Ministry for Youth and Sports to serve as ambassadors to rally support for the Black Stars, as well as help raise funds for supporters and brand Ghana during the country’s participation at the World Cup in Brazil in June.

She told the Justice Dzamefe Commission, tasked to inquire about the country’s participation in the tournament, Thursday that it was made known to her that her ambassadorial work was voluntary and therefore was not going to be paid for it but only received a per diem.

“As its spelt in the certificate they gave me, it said voluntary so I knew from the beginning that I wasn’t going to be given any kind of money,” Becca said.

According to her, money was not her main priority and that, “the most important thing for me is that I was a proud Ghanaian and so I was honoured to have been chosen to be an ambassador and I was going to make sure that whatever role that was given as long as it wasn’t anything negative I was going to push hard and work at it”.

Asked how she was selected as an ambassador, Becca said she got a call from Mr Fred Darko of the Ministry of Youth and Sports “who said that I had been one of the names that was shortlisted to be an ambassador for Brazil 2014,” adding that she was later given a letter, signed by then Sports Minister Elvis Afriye Ankrah, to that effect.

She explained that she was tasked as one of Ghana’s brand icons and she was to promote and market Ghana’s participation at the World Cup; create and enhance corporate participation in Ghana’s participation at the World Cup; and also make public appearances at key events for the country.

Becca was supposed to help sell Ghana to the world and also be a symbol for the country: “I went to corporate bodies in an attempt to solicit for funds to support the Black Stars” an endeavour she described as successful. “I think for me as an artiste, I did pretty well,” even though she was not able to collect physical cash.

The bubbly songstress revealed that this was her first time in Brazil and admitted that there were a few challenges as things didn’t go according to plan.

Becca, who performed twice with a live band, said her performance “was mind blowing, it was thrilling for me as an artiste. It was an opportunity for me to showcase what I’m made of, where I come from to promote Ghana…my performance attracted a lot of media attention even in Brazil.”

For her overall performance as an ambassador, the singer was positive that she did her best as an ambassador because she “was able to sell Ghana using my talent which is music. I promoted the name of Ghana…”

Asked if she met the Black Stars during her stay, the ‘No Away’ hit singer said she was in Natal throughout her time in Brazil and therefore did not meet the Senior National team.
