Naterial and Miriam, winners of the
MTN Hit Maker music reality contest, have not been given the GH¢100,000
and GH¢50,000 they were respectively promised for emerging winner and
first runner-up of the contest.
Though all the contestants,
general public and media were made to understand that the winner of the
MTN Hit Maker would walk home with a cool GH¢100,000 from MTN and a
year’s promotional package and other souvenirs, and the first runner-up,
an amount of GH¢50,000 from the MTN Foundation, plus a promotional
package, none of them has received a pesewa after emerging winner.
According
to MTN, it did not promise to give cash to any of the winners but
rather to keep the money in an account and use it to promote the music
careers of the two winners. Almost a month after the event, neither
Naterial nor Miriam has received any money from MTN and their music
careers have also not been injected with any money whatsoever.
When
NEWS-ONE contacted MTN over the seeming disappointment, the paper was
directed to speak to Eugene Ntri, who claimed that all the contestants
were made to understand that the money would be used for their career
but not given to them.
According to Eugene, MTN would ensure the
money is well accounted for and that there was no cause for worry. But
NEWS-ONE checks revealed that the contestants were never made aware that
they would not be given the cash amount.
Their understanding was that the cash amount was different from the year’s promotional package MTN promised.
Just
before the final event, NEWS-ONE had an exclusive with all the four
finalists, during which each of them explained in detail what they would
do with the cash amount should they emerge winner.
When NEWS-ONE
asked Mirian what plans she had with the prize money, this was her
response: “I need that money badly and I want Ghanaians to vote for me.
We are being ejected from our house and I need the money to pay our rent
else we would be stranded….Oh yeah.
You can add it because it is
true. I went to Takoradi over the weekend and we are being ejected so I
need the money. So they should vote for me.” Naterial also had a
similar response when he was asked the plans he had for the cash amount:
“I’m the only man standing in my nuclear family.
My dad is gone
and I am the only son. Secondly I am not from a rich home though we are
very gifted. I would use the money to help my mum set up an income
generating venture to keep us going.
I would use part to promote
my music career because when I hit, I would rake in more money. I also
intend opening a music and dance school to help others just like MTN is
helping us.
There are several other talents even better than me
out there and they also need my help.” As it stands now, the two
winners, despite the national fame the MTN Hit Maker platform has given
them, are still walking about cashless and their financial challenges
have worsened.
Chikicherker and Atimbilla, the other two finalists, have also not received a dime from MTN.
Nollywood
superstar Osita Oheme, popularly known as 'Pawpaw' is no doubt flying
high in his acting career. Aside doing well on the silver screens, the
pint-sized actor is getting endorsements from all corners as many
organizations and individuals want to do business with him.
Just
recently, the one half of ‘Aki and Pawpaw’ fame landed an 11million
naira deal in South Africa. Soon after, Pawpaw got himself entangled, as
seen in a picture, with two ladies in bathtub, unclothed.
The
photo, according to nigeriafilms.com, was from a photo-shoot of a
commercial the actor shot for VUSU Entertainment TV, which got him the
11million naira deal in South Africa. As the face of the TV station and
part of his deal, Pawpaw had to shoot the commercial for the TV channel.
Ayodeji Balogun otherwise known as Wizkid hit the Nigerian music industry few years ago when he released his hit single Holla At Your Boy.
The song became an instant hit especially when it became the favourite of many hit TV stations across Africa.
It is very usual for celebrities to have crush on some people before they also became stars themselves.
While
answering questions from Toolz on Ndani TV, Wizkid revealed that he had
crush on Nollywood superstar actress, Genevieve Nnaji.
According to Wizkid, “I really had a crush on Genevieve until I met her and I realized she was my aunty. I love her.
“When
I was a kid, I loved watching her movies. I met her when I was with my
older uncles, they told her to come meet their boy (me) and I said ‘Good
evening ma’. It is all good though, I still love you Genevieve,”
When
teased by Toolz if he could still date the 33 years old screen goddess,
22-year-old Wizkid said,” Yea, definitely, but I doubt she would date
me.”
He was then given a tip on how to get Genevieve. ”I think
you should send a private jet to go pick her (Genevieve) up at her house
and take her to wherever you are just for dinner,” Toolz told Wizkid.
”I promise, I am going to do that, the EME artiste assured Toolz.
For some time now, star actor, Kenneth Okonkwo, who played the movie role of Andy in the popular movie Living in Bondage, has not been prominent on the screens.
What
Nigeriafilms.com can confirm to you is that the prolific actor has
added soul winning for God to his two professions; acting and law.
The actor surprised many when he was seen at a lawyers’ forum few years ago.
Now, Kenneth has shown that aside acting and law practice, he is a good Evangelist; a fisher of men for God.
Kenneth Okonkwo recently headlined a 3-day crusade held in Ikorodu, Lagos as a guest minister of God of the event.
The
'3-Day Explosive Fire and Total Deliverance' crusade was tagged ‘Night
of Dominion’ and was held between September 26-28. 2012.
The service took place at Evangelist Peter Nwabueze’s Christ Mission Worldwide Church, Owode Onirin, Ikorodu Lagos.
Liz Benson, Pat Attah, Eucharia Anunobi are among some renowned actors who have become 'fishers of men'.
It is with deep regret that the entire management team of Merqury
Republic presents this information in connection with the eleventh hour
postponement of Ghana DJ Awards 2012 which was due to unforeseen
technical circumstances.
Many are entertainment pundits and critics who have read meanings
into the sudden and the unfortunate postponement of our maiden awards
show Ghana DJ Awards 2012 which was slated at the national theatre last
week Friday 26th October.
The Ghana DJ Awards production team deems it fit to set the records
straight especially to its fans and supporters who have been angered by
the myriad of false information which has been widely spread by
entertainment reviewers and news reporters. It was really unfortunate
that just some few minutes before the main event, after successfully
setting up stage and even preparing the foyer, it was realized that the
quality in the sound which was of accepted standard from the beginning
was deteriorating, demeaning the standard meant to be set.
Again knowing the premium that had placed on the show and revelers
alike, it became obligatory to save the outfit’s image and credibility
by postponing the event at the eleventh hour.
Mercury Republic is much aware of the effects that this postponement
is likely to have brought to the numerous ticket buyers and press men
who got accredited to cover the event. It is in the wake of this that
the team writes to apologize to the numerous fans out there who were
hurt in one way or the other about the sudden postponement of the DJ
Awards.
Meanwhile, consultations are ongoing with authorities of the National
Theatre to come up with the new date as early as possible. Tickets
purchased are still valid to Ghana DJ Awards 2012.
“Again, we want to by this press release state emphatically that we
did not owe authorities of the national theatre in any way as has been
spread by some industry reviewers”.
The events team apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused
to all DJs in Ghana, nominees and international DJs who traveled from
their respective countries to grace this initiative.

Ace radio presenter and all-round entertainer Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey,
popularly known as Abeiku Santana of ‘Ekwanso Dwodwo’ on Okay 107.1 FM,
is in hot waters over his recent public declaration of support for
President John Mahama’s 2012 presidential ambition.
NEWS-ONE has information that Abeiku Santana’s declaration for the
National Democratic Congress (NDC’s) presidential candidate has not only
cost him an award at the recently organized Radio & Television
(RTP) Awards but also caused trouble for him at his station.
Though Abeiku Santana’s ‘Ekwanso Dwodwo’ had won the Evening Drive Time
show at the RTP Awards, information said an eleventh hour decision was
taken by the organizers not to present the award to him because it would
be lending credence to his drive time show which has been largely
tagged ‘political’ because of the political stance of the host.
Organizers of the event mentioned and awarded all winners on the night
except Abeiku Santana and NEWS-ONE’s checks have revealed that it was
purely because of the recent political stance taken by the ace
presenter.
The organizers however explained that they forgot to mention Abeiku as a
winner on the night and that they called him behind closed doors and
told him he won the award.
The organizers have since not found it necessary to inform the public that Abeiku’s show had won such an award.
Meanwhile, NEWS-ONE has also gathered that some key persons within the
Despite Group of Companies, owners of Okay FM, have expressed misgivings
about Abeiku Santana’s public declaration of support for John Mahama
and have even called for his dismissal.
Abeiku Santana recently announced that he had founded a group, Youth
For Mahama (YFM), to galvanize the support of Ghanaian youth for
President Mahama’s candidature.
Abeiku founded YFM with another journalist Selorm Amevor, formerly of the Public Agenda.
Ace sports journalist Yaw Ampofo Ankrah has also announced his support
for John Mahama and has indeed embarked on a national campaign for him.
Reports reaching NEWS-ONE also say controversial political satirist
A-Plus is no longer devoted to the New Patriotic Party and has switched
camps to the NDC.
OMG!Ghana as well as many other ‘conscious’ music lovers chastised
Multiple Award winner Sarkodie’s ‘Irish Cream’ goof on the Black
Entertainment Television (BET) 2012 cypher. An issue that ignited a
feud between many of our musicians. But it looks like a blessing in
disguise for One time discovery of the year ‘ASEM’ who somewhere last
year was entangled in a rape scandal.
The ‘Wobe Da Ntem’ hitmaker who has just a quarter of Sarkodie’s awards
has cashed in on the lyrical mishap to make an early release of what
has become an annual showbiz review ‘Fylla’ which he now calls ‘Last
Fylla’.
Obviously Asem was ‘Ayarigated’ by the ‘irish cream’ flow and in an
attempt to make the headlines again (as was in his rape scandal) decided
to pounce on his ‘secret competition’ Sarkodie to make the latter a
laughing stock once again.
I personally think Sarkodie goofed with the ‘irish cream’ line which went viral on social media soon after its release.
My question is Should that be a Trump Card for Asem to make a hurried release of his usual December ending review?
The Vibrant Lyricist formerly of Lynx Entertainment should be in for a
lot of ‘Wahala’ since he made a mockery of the ‘FOKN BOIS’ too. The
likes of Appietus ,Sister Debbie, Keche, DKB and E.L were on the
creative rapper’s hitlist.
Asem please make music! ‘You are in trouble with your Sarko mock,Y3be ka no double double so say u go know say ibi lame!
There are disturbing reports that Ghanaian actor Eddie Nartey has been
knifed by his Nigerian lover, Miss Abli and that the actor had to be
rushed to a private hospital and was almost anemic due to excessive
bleeding.
But the emotionally hurt Nigerian lover has told News-one that she
caught Eddy Nartey completely nude in bed with another woman and this
led to a nasty fight between them.
Miss Abli said when she caught Eddy in bed with the “boyfriend
snatcher”, she tried chasing out the new girl but the actor got furious
and this led to a fight that saw louver blades shattering, with
electronic gadgets flying in all directions as loud noise woke sleeping
neighbours. “I didn’t stab Eddie; I was the one who was rather hurt, not
him. Eddie was not admitted to any hospital,” Miss Abli told News-One.
Interestingly, Eddy Nartey, when contacted, declined to comment. Eddy
Nartey had always told the Ghanaian media he was a virgin; therefore the
situation in which he finds himself now comes as a surprise.
Miss Abli revealed that she and Eddy both attended the premiere of his
new movie, ‘Testing The Waters’, at the Silverbird Cinema at the Accra
Mall last Friday night but she had to meet someone at a popular hotel
near the National Theater in Accra and therefore asked the actor to take
the lead home.
She narrated further that on reaching her boyfriend’s home later in the
night, she caught him pants down in bed with a naked woman. Miss Abli
said when she confronted Eddie, he said he was drunk and might have
taken the lady home under the influence of alcohol.
Miss Abli said she then confronted the “strange lady” and tried chasing
her out of the room but Eddie tried to stop her and that led to the
fight. She said she even stepped on some broken louver blades that got
shattered during their struggle.
Sometime this year, Eddie swore to News-One that he had never inserted
his manhood into any woman and that he was still a virgin at age 27.
But after that statement, close sources to him told the paper that
actor was not speaking that truth about his sex life. He allegedly had
sex with one beautiful actress while they were shooting the movie
‘Somewhere In Africa’.
The said lady is the girlfriend of another actor, who is among the list
of diminutive actors in Ghana. “It happened on the set of ‘Somewhere In
Africa’. Everyone knows this story. The girl is a video clip girl so
she won’t come out,” a source added.
But in a rebuttal, Eddie said,” I know many will own up that they have
slept with me before that I don’t even know. If I was a nobody on the
street, how many of these ladies who even comment on the internet that
they have had something to do with me will say that. I don’t know what
they are talking about and I am amazed. I did say that if you know that I
have slept with you, own up and don’t sit somewhere and say I have.”
With the latest incident, it is still unclear what Eddie Nartey’s reaction to his virginity status will be.
