Nollywood actress, Genevieve Nnaji,
has explained that her long absence in movie industry is as a result of
poorly written scripts which she feels are not worthy for her
professional character.
According to the screen diva, Nollywood
was initially known for quantity, but with the trend of things in the
make-belief world today, quality needs to be the watchword of every
producer.
Being an advocate of change, the actress stressed that
she cannot take part in any movie that does not have quality and great
professionalism in telling the stories in a convincing manner.
“I
am among the people who advocate for the improvement of the industry.
So said, I am constantly watching out for the kind of stories I take
part in. I am in support of movies that show a great deal of
professionalism and creativity,” Genevieve said.
Having featured
in top class movies like ‘Ije’, ‘Mirror Boy,’ and ‘Tango With Me’, the
actress noted that she can never imagine herself taking in any weak
films.
“Having practiced my art in international and
professionally produced stories like ‘Ije’; ‘Mirror Boy;’ and ‘Tango
With Me’, I don’t think I can return to the blandness and mediocrity
that characterised Nollywood in the past,” she added.
Nicholas Omane Achemapong is one of the long lasting gospel musicians that have carried the cross of Jesus high.
He
is popularly known by his musical terms such as Tabita Kum, Zaphanath
Paneah and still Mahal Shala Hashbash. He is classified as one of the
best song writers in Ghana. His credibility as a professional artiste is
with no doubt. He has written a lot of hit songs that have taken the
whole nation by surprise and has won him more following.
Most
music pundits say Nicholas is one musician whose style of singing is
totally different from any other musician in Ghana. His style of singing
can only be somehow likened with that of Yaw Sarpong and the Asomafo.
In
this piece, your most reliable Flex newspaper, can authoritatively tell
you that Nicholas Omane Acheampong has turned into a gospel rap
artiste. His latest album waiting to be released anytime soon has some
serious rap style that was made by Nicholas himself.
This rap
song will go a long way to justify the fact that Nicholas is not just a
mere musician but a musician full of talent. It is high time, today’s
youth who are interested in coming into the music industry began to
follow the steps of some of these artistes or go close to them and learn
from them.
A bird has whispered into our ears that, the latest
album of the award winning gospel musician Nicholas Omane Acheampong
will once again take over this nation. According to our informant, the
song is purported to be an insinuation to a certain renowned musician in
Ghana who needs to change her ways in order to receive real blessings
from God.
It is difficult to conclude if
popular Ghanaian actress Khareema Aguiar is trying to justify divorce,
but she says certain marriages are not meant to be.
According to the sexy-eyed ‘Checkmate’ actress, the moment a marriage hits the rocks; it simply means it was not meant to be.
Khareema’s
comment follows reports of actress Juliet Ibrahim parting ways with her
husband after a marriage that produced a child.
Subsequent reports to the issue to confirm whether she was divorce.
She
rather told News-One: “As mature that I have become now, I have realize
that God instituted marriage to be a lifetime thing. So if a marriage
hits the rocks, it simply means it wasn’t meant to be and if it wasn’t
meant to be, it’s as good as it not happening at all.”
Khareema,
who is expected to launch her upcoming TV reality show soon, confessed
some months ago that she was dating 22-year-old Gershon Koffie, a
Canana-based Ghanaian midfielder, who plays for White Caps in Vancouver.
She however refused to substantiate claims that they were planning to get married.
Singer and showstopper, Mzbel, says
that she is going to remain single for the rest of her life as she is
convinced that marriage is not meant for her.
“I am not looking
forward to marriage because I do not want to feel dedicated to anyone. I
want to be my own woman and infact, I am enjoying being a single
parent,” she told Showbiz in an interview last monday.
“I have no
problem being in a relationship; infact, I am currently dating but
marriage is a no go area for me. I am a hard working woman with three
kids and all this while, I have been doing everything on my own so I
don’t see the reason why I would allow myself to be pinned down all in
the name of love and marriage. I want to be a free bird,” she said.
In
an answer to why she had reached that decision she said, “it is simple,
I do not want any one to disturb my peace. You know as soon as you get
married, it’s like there are some rules that you need to follow and I am
not ready to abide by those rules.
“I nearly got married this
year but I declined after thinking through and realising that marriage
was not meant for me. I don’t want to feel obliged to cook or do certain
things for any man. With my current single mother status, as and when I
feel like doing something, I do it and so far I love it”
Mzbel’s
children, her own son and two adopted others, she said, were also part
of her decision. If I get married, my children will not get the best of
me as I will have to divide my attention. My children need me more and I
would like to dedicate the rest of my life to them so that they do not
have to share me with anyone,” she said.
“Moreover, I have seen
how terrible some marriages end, some to the extent of the woman
committing suicide and knowing how fragile I am, I do not want to find
myself in any of such situations. The bottom line is, I am an
independent woman and getting married will spoil things. I am happy the
way I am,” she stated.
In response to what people may think of
her decision, she said, “I don’t care what people are going to say, I
have listened to people on several occasions and it did not help me so I
have decided to turn a deaf ear to what they will say. I have reached a
point where what matters to me is how I feel and I am focusing on doing
what will make me happy.”
Commenting on her seemingly stalled
music career, Mzbel attributed her delay in bouncing back soon after
delivering her baby to motherhood saying that it had been very difficult
combing that with her music career.
“I have not been out yet
because I am taking care of my son. I have nobody helping and it makes
it difficult for me to go to the studio and record want to get
everything right before I come out but I hope to come out very soon.”
Mzbel
told Showbiz that her fans should still keep their fingers crossed and
watch out for the new Mzbel with swag. “I have not forgotten my fans, I
love them and I thank God for their lives. I am putting certain things
in place and when I’m done, I will release my singles prolly before the
end of this year.”
Mzbel, real name, Belinda Ekua Amoah, has in
the past churned out hit songs such as Run Away, Saucy Girl, Yopoo,
Bonnet, Awoso Me, Logoligi, Bra Fii, 16 Years, Mama Sweet, Twe Ma Me,
San Bra, E Dey Be and Bra.
She also has a awesome stage presence that has earned her lots of fans.
In the world of show business, there
always exist issues of in-fighting, bickering, back-biting, gossip,
hatred and envy amongst the main players especially the female
entertainers.
Over the years, there have been reports of rift
between female Ghanaian celebrities including the documented squabbles
between Jackie Appiah and Nadia Buari, Yvonne Nelson and Jackie Appiah
as well as reported fall-out between the likes of Jocelyn Dumas and
Yvonne Okoro and of course, the famous wrangle between ‘frenemies’
Sandra Ankobiah and Yvonne Nelson.
Razz Newspapers has uncovered
yet another possible ‘bad blood’ that is brewing between two popular
Ghanaian female celebrities, Sandra Ankobiah and Jocelyn Dumas. The two
are said to be not the best of friends and have not been speaking highly
of each other.
Their show of contempt for each other came to
light when they presented themselves as invited guests at the
recently-held private wedding of Uche Ofodile and Captain Planet of
Hiplife group, 4X4.
According to reliable sources that were
present at the ceremony, Sandra was seated at one of the tables during
the reception with other prominent guests while Jocelyn was also seated
with other guests on another table.
Observers did not know what
might have triggered the outburst, but a visibly agitated Sandra was
said to have told the other people on her table how Jocelyn sees highly
of herself, is ‘too-known’, pompous and has less regard for others.
Sandra
is also purported to have confirmed that she was not friends with
Jocelyn and is on a different class as compared to the actress/TV
Presenter. Interestingly, another male presenter who was seated on
Sandra’s table and who is also in good terms with Jocelyn was quite
baffled and asked Sandra what Jocelyn had done to her and why she was
issuing such invectives against her.
When news of Sandra’s
outbursts got to Jocelyn, she also had some strong words for Sandra,
stating that the ‘This Day’ presenter is an attention freak, always in a
haste to make the headlines and her new car that she’s flaunting around
was purchased by her boyfriend who is in prison.
The sources are
not sure what must have instigated the two stars not seeing eye-to-eye,
but surely, some are attributing the latest rift to the usual case of
envy, ego, jealousy, gossip and back-biting as the possible precursors
to the situation.
Jocelyn, who is arguably the most popular of
the two is turning out to be the go-to actress at the moment after
starring in two critically-acclaimed movies, the Leila Djansi-directed
‘Northern Affair’ and Shirley Frimpong-Manso’s ‘ Love Or Something Like
That’.
Sandra, after the botched’ Fashion 101’ show, which
catapulted her to stardom, is one of the host for TV3’s Morning Show,
‘This Day’- fast-rising to be one of the most-talked-about celebrities
in the country at the moment. Well, Razz Newspaper would like to
admonish the two pretty presenters that, they are all doing tremendously
well in the industry and they must rise above the petty envy, hatred
and disdain that comes with the job.
Elsewhere, other astute
female celebrities are co-habiting and relating without drama; Paris
Hilton and Nicole Richie, Rihanna and Katie Perry as well as Taylor
Swift and Selena Gomez and many others co-exist happily in a very
competitive industry.
