MY NAME IS IN THE GUINNESS BOOK OF RECORDS - AGYA KOO

In what seemed a drought season for popular comedy actor Agya Koo for the past two years which led to a lot of speculations in the media, the once most popular actor has in an interview laid the facts bare.

Speaking with Nana Kwame on Skyy Power 93.5 FM in Takoradi, Agya Koo disclosed his absence has been due to the fact that most producers claimed his charges were too much and casting Liwin or any other was more affordable to them. He is quoted as saying;

“Let me tell you the truth today, the Producers say I charge so much and using someone like Lil Win can make you get extra cash. But same Producers brought Porpo (Osita Iheme) from Nigeria and paid him more than GHC40,000. My charges are not even GHC5,000.”

Speaking of his seemingly falling popularity, compared to Lilwin, Agya Koo explained the latter could in no way be compared to him.

“I am in the Guinness book of Record for acting more movies than anyone in the world, Judges, high profiled people like Kufuor and others watch my movies and you are asking if Lil Win is popular than me.”

“I am wealthier than he is and he cannot compare himself to me in anyway. My Production House (Titi Mbofra) raised the standard of local movies in Ghana. We were the saviors of local movies when no attention was paid to local movies.”

CELEBRITY RELATIONSHIP MUST BE SACRIFICIAL - ACTRESS

Life is indeed a journey and its experiences help shape our thoughts, attitudes and actions. This is the mantra of sassy actress, Christabel Ekeh, as her experiences have taught her to be cautious of the men who come her way and want to be more than just friends.

In an interview with her, she recounted her experience with a man (name withheld) who came into her life and wanted to be more than friends. She agreed but in her mind she decided to really examine the guy to find out if the words he professed to her were genuine or fake.

"He was caring, loving, understanding and was everything that a lady would want and at a point I felt I had found my Mr. Right. But on second thought and analyzing our conversations and his deeds, I realized that he was in because of my fame and worth,” she said.

"I immediately stepped aside as I wasn't ready for a heartbreak and don't like men who take advantage of women," she added.

Touching on other issues, Christabel said she doesn't believe in the myth that has been created around celebrities that their relationships do not last as she confidently and repeatedly made it clear that such relationships can work depending on the individual and she does not have a problem marrying a celebrity even though she's one and is aware of the circumstances surrounding such relationships especially with regards to making time for it.

In an answer to how hers would be different from Yvonne Nelson/Iyanya, Nadia Buari/Michael Essien, Okyeame Kwame and Nana Ama McBrown etc. she said a relationship has to be liberal, understanding and sacrificial.

"I will make sure I know him beyond his celebrity lifestyle. I will not be in a relationship because of his status or personality but it will be because I love him. I will also not listen to what people say about him because the relationship is just for the two of us," she said.

On the other hand she would not date a man who is insecure and is not humble.

The first runner-up of Miss Malaika 2008 contestant got her big break through in the movie industry when she featured in ‘Deadly Passions’ where she played a supporting role with John Dumelo and Yvonne Nelson. She is also the face of Star Assurance.

XCLUSIV FOTOS: FEMALE CELEBRITIES' MAKE-UP AT GHANA MOVIE AWARDS 2013

Ghana Movie Awards 2013 came off on December 30, 2013 with all its disorganized nature, various discrepancies and countless unanswered questions, yet the event was able to bring the entire Ghallywood under one roof to celebrate their achievements within the year.

As always, the only existing movie awards scheme in Ghana currently, attracted several celebrities especially movies stars looking stunning in their tuxedos and evening wears to show off on the red carpet which never was, due to a heavy downpour.

One observation Peacefmonline.com made on the glamorous night was the kind of make-up our female celebrities wore. In spite of their beautiful faces which off course looks more attractive with a little enhancement, our ladies looked as though they were competing with multicolored lipsticks, eye shadows and eye liners.

Even though some had their make-up on point, most of the female celebrities who graced the red carpet had way too much make-up on their faces to the extent that, what was supposed to enhance their beauty rather made some of them looked horrible and scary.

Check out your favourite female celebrities and their make-up at the just ended 2013 Ghana Movie Awards.

I'M FED UP WITH POLITICS -BARIMA SIDNEY

Political satirist cum musician Sidney Ofori, known in showbiz as Barima Sidney has told NEWS-ONE he has lost interest in doing political satires.

"People hate me for what I do and even that hatred to destroy my commercial investments. Political satire is allowed in any advanced multi-party democracy but in Ghana it has cost me a fortune and brought me hatred.

I think we have not reached there as a country because we can't take a joke without getting angry, we can't make fun and laugh at ourselves, we can't tolerate divergent views, and we tend to be overly partisan. I am just fed up with this whole idea and want to do thing else," Sidney told NEWS-ONE.

The musician said because recent song, ‘Donkomi', a senior political figure at the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Arts recently acted very rude towards him in public and treated him as someone who had a highly contagious disease.

Sidney noted further " I felt very sad and it dawned on me that if I was not doing satire and I was doing my normal music, I would not be facing some of the problems am facing now. They hated me for 'Enko yie', Gadindingadem’, 'Bye-Bye' and now 'Donkomi'.

They have blacklisted all the songs but they can't give any reason so they just ignore me like a bad boy. My brother, I would stop the satire and we would all be doing 'Shatta Wale' because that is what Ghana is ready for.

They think because I sing about hardship I am working for NPP or I am against the government or I am insulting the President.

What would I gain from insulting the President? It is very sad people think this way and treat me with enmity."

Barima said what made his plight pathetic was that while he was accused of doing the bidding of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the party neither recognized not appreciated his works.
"If I was doing this for the NPP I would have charged them for it but not a single person in the NPP has even called me to say, take this for your recording or take that for your videos. No, not one!
Each time my song gets blacklisted, it is my few media friends who show some sympathy.

The NPP people claim I am working for, does not give a hoot. They won't even call to say anything.
I use my own resources and gain nothing from it because the songs get blacklisted with no
one telling me anything. It started with GTV and now even the private stations have joined. It is very frustrating and I am sure that 2014 would see me doing something very different.
I did not start as a satirist and when I was doing Nananom, I was even better off," Sidney noted.

LIL WIN TELLS HIS BITTER LOVE STORY

Not many actors would want to share their past love experiences on the silver screen but actor Lil Win has done just that in a new movie called Big Boy Weezy.

Lil Win, who dated a girl called Naomi for four years and later found out that a movie director was also having an affair with her, wants the whole world to know about it.

Sharing his real life experience with Showbiz, Lil Win talked about a lady he had wanted to marry soon after starting his career in the movies.

According to him, he introduced his sweetheart to his parents and discussed plans about marrying her only to find out a movie director he had introduced his girlfriend to was having an affair with her.
“As poor as I was, I provided  everything she wanted because I knew she was from a poor background.  Despite that, she went ahead to have an affair with the movie director the very day they got to know each other through me, ” Lil Win said.

Lil Win, who was broken-hearted discovering the relationship between his girlfriend and the movie director, decided to team up with Mustapha Adams, popularly known as A.A Production, to tell his bitter tale on the big screen.

The Big Boy Weezy movie features Kwaku Manu, Pat Bentum, Faustina Amissah, Kojo Poku. Apart from Lil Win’s issue with Naomi, the film also touches on  the challenging  circumstances through which the popular actor met his current love, Patricia who is also mother of his son.

According to Mustapha Adams, the producer of the movie, he didn’t hesitate at all to put resources into the  production of the film when Lil Win told him he wanted to tell a true story about his love affair in a movie.

RAMSEY NOAH TELLS HIS TOUCHING STORY ABOUT LIFE

We all have been through times that are very rougher than smooth. That is why we all have different testimonies to give in the future.. Here is a life story from Nigerian Actor Ramsey when he had his rough times.. Read below:

Those were the times when things got really bad for my mother and I and we had nothing. It was so bad that we didn’t have a home or shelter to live in. We had to stay in a store, a small store that could take only one mat. My mother and I squeezed ourselves in that mat. We didn’t even have a cup to drink water not to talk of a stove to cook. And my mother had to borrow, beg and stuff like that. These were moments when I was young I didn’t realize the gravity of poverty we were in, I couldn’t tell. But it was a good orientation for me.

It was moments that I thank God for making me past through, because that has sustained and helped me even as an actor. The ability to deliver all the roles they give me because I have tasted both sides of the coin.

Yeah, those moments; those terrible moments when ………….

we had nothing and we were living off people. People were just helping us out. There were times we didn’t have food to eat three or four days. You haven’t eaten and your stomach is rumbling but you don’t have any place to go. There was a time I lived on the street, in shops. There was a time I slept under the bridge.

It was unfortunate that there were no records so that we can have memories we could play back now. To me, I am so extremely grateful that I went through it. At that time I hated everybody around me. In fact, I used to question why God was doing this to me. But I think God knew that I needed this for my future.

Ramsey told Christian Agadibe of Sunday Sun
