Love gone sour: My wife wants me dead - John Okafor (Mr. Ibu)

Famous actor and comic star John Ikechukwu Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu is one entertainer whose face and acts are antidotes for the depressed.

For almost three decades, the actor, comedian, and singer has endlessly dazzled and wowed comedy and movie buffs with his hilarious persona, making him one of the most popular acts in the nation’s entertainment industry globally known as Nollywood.

However, even though Mr. Ibu’s life revolves around entertainment and making people happy, the Enugu State-born thespian is a man with a bleeding heart and many hidden pains.

In this no-holds-barred and exclusive encounter, Mr. Ibu, for the first time revealed the agonies he went through in the hands of his ex-wife, whom he alleged made several attempts on his life and that of his immediate family.

“My ex wife and her cohorts planned and kidnapped my wife and child; they were later released after 10 days... That child later died a year after through poisoning. The fact later came out, but I don’t want to act on it now; I don’t want to massacre anybody…,” he told Entertainment Express.

The humour merchant and star of numerous blockbusters in this riveting chat also spoke extensively on other germane issues, including his battle with poverty, encounter with homosexuals, women and more. The interview, refreshing and fascinating, is a bird’s eye view and also a close up on Mr. Ibu’s world.

Ghanaian Celebs Mourn Melcom Disaster Victims

A number of popular Ghanaian stars have commiserated with families of victims of the ‘Melcom building disaster’ that killed an unconfirmed number of people and injured over 70 others.

The Achimota branch of the Melcom Shopping Centre in Accra collapsed and trapped over 70 people on Wednesday. The five-storey building collapsed at about 9:45 pm, according to eye-witnesses.

The incident has since thrown the country into shock. A number of government officials including President John Mahama and other opposition leaders visited the scene of the disaster.

Some Ghana celebrities also took to different social networks to express their shock.

Among them were Yvonne Okoro, Deborah Vanessa, Ama K. Abebrese, Eazzy, EL and Mimi.

News-One monitored what they tweeted on social network twitter.

Below are their tweets;

Yvonne Okoro: “Omg is the Melcom Incident true if it’s true, wats (what’s) being done abt (about)…tragic, so sorry for the victims, God be with the families.”

Deborah Vanessa: “As for the Melcom disaster, till you are in the victim’s or their family’s shoes, you will not comprehend. I cannot say I can imagine how it will feel, I would be lying. So sad… innocent people have died because of a cheap job done probably through greed.”

Eazzy: “Omg fuck hell…melcom collapsed? Jesoz (Jesus)! Lord pls save souls.”

No video released this year can match my Heyba – Edem

Rapper Edem, born Denning Edem Agbeviadey has stressed that although he was forced to redraw his last major video, Over Again due to the mixed reactions the video received from his fans, his latest work will make up for the loss.

In his bid to satisfy his fans, Edem will be premiering his latest work, Heyba (Not On My Level) Saturday on Cine Afrik Premieres on Cine Afrik on MultiTV at 7pm and he believes that no video released this year will match up his video.

“I don’t think any video that has been released this year could match up to Heyba. From January to date, I think Heyba will really do well against a lot of videos that have been released,” he told Myjoyonline.com in an interview.

According to him, “this video is going to generate a lot of interest…I think that with the past video and the comments from a cross section of the fans, this video is going to prove to them that yes my team listens to them and how they respect the brand and we don’t plan to downplay the Edem band below their expectation.”

The Ghetto Arise singer was of the view that, “the song itself - Heyba – has a lot of energy at a point when everybody is doing dance related music…the video brings to bear the amount of lyrical dexterity the artiste Edem has.”

While he was “hoping to see the fans' reaction,” Edem believes that, “fans are going to love the video” because “a lot went into this video.”

Asked why he decided to premiere the video on live TV, which will also be simulcast at the Obra Sport at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle, he said it was part of his quest to always do things differently.

“I started off my career doing a lot of things differently. I started by rapping in my dialect, I moved on to do an autograph session at the Mall which has become something replicated over the years. We proceeded to do a lot of charity related stuff based on my personal interest for giving hope to people…we are just trying to be different,” he said.

For his choice of Cine Afrik as the medium to premiere the video, Edem said he chose the premium African channel “because the elements of the song Heyba are actually very African and Cine Afrik identifies with stuffs that are African.”

Sarkodie’s Illuminati affiliation heightens

After his massive appearance in 2008 with hits like 'Baby', 'Lay Away' and a host of others. With his different and well calculated punch lines which gained five awards including Artiste of the Year in 2010. Again he was adjudged Artiste of the Year in 2012 making him the only Ghanaian act to win Artiste of the Year twice in the history of Ghana Music.

With his style of flow which have gained him Black Entertainment Awards 2012 nomination for the category of Best African International Act which he won. My research shows that the day Sarkodie had his BET nomination; his grandmother died. People might doubt me but well establish music followers will bare with me that immediately Kanye West started gaining fame, his mother died. To add to the list, P-Square’s mother recently died after their two hit remixes. Any sign of connection to my hint or it is a mere coincidence?

Ever since the fastest rapper in Ghana and Africa alike has become large, his lyrics have kept people speculating of his Illuminate involvement; better still, is it that people are misunderstanding creativity for something else, as they did misconstrued his lines in the BET Hiphop Awards 2012 Cypher?

There is a hand shake which is a sign in the ‘other’ world and thus people have their meanings to it pertaining to this Illuminate stories. This same hand shake was seen gestured between the American Rapper Ludacris and Sarkodie recently at the 020 Live Concert in Ghana, immediately the two had finished performing a remix to the ‘How Long’ song.
