Actress Yvonne Nelson was on the EFGH show over the weekend, where she talked about her journey through life, career and more.
When
asked why she was single, she disclosed, ”I am single because a lot of
men ‘suck’ and ain’t loyal”, adding that she has a free heart and that
she does not have any problems with anyone in Ghana. She said that if
anyone has a problem with her, then it’s his/her own issue.
According
to the bubbly actress, her glaucoma foundation is a little bit shaky
now because there is not enough funding to cater for the victims. She
said most of the drugs are very expensive so it has been very
challenging for her doing that alone.
She also indicated that the
sequel of her previous movie, Single and Married which is titled

and later in September for Nigeria. The actress, producer and model

education adds value to oneself.
Ghanaian comedy icon, David Oscar
took to the stage last Saturday after his performance, to preach the
gospel of home grown comedy to overflowing patrons including fans,
critics and even haters of #GHComedy at the silver lounge of Accra
Shopping Mall.
After the comedy sermon, the seeming patrons who
were seeking to put the potency of Ghanaian comedians to the test might
have had a change of perception about #GHComedy.
David Oscar
headed on to invite patrons to join the #GHComedy train as the corporate
comedy series road shows dubbed ‘comedy bar’ moves to Takoradi on the
September 12 this year at the Atlantic Hotel.
Comedians who
showed up on the night delivered, constantly throwing rounds of
hilarious jokes passing the test with which patrons had initially thrown
to them (comedians) leaving the event grounds with satisfaction.
Ghanaian
comedians in recent times have created platforms for themselves, giving
them bragging rights. One such initiative is the comedy bar, which
happens every last Saturday of the month.
Over the past years, the topic of #GHComedy is one that tickles a cord in the hearts of skeptics and critics.
This
is because the art form has risen above taunts, hate and criticism and
has become the most talked about branch of the entertainment industry.
One of the hallmarks of a celebrity
is the ability to turn negative publicity into positive expose’ and one
person who has been able to live it is celebrated actress, Emelia
Brobbey.
The actress, who has been doing such humanitarian and
philanthropic works with her organization, ‘Emelia Brobbey Charity
Organization’ – has been able to raise an amount of GHc 6,000 within a
spate of three (3) weeks as support for the building of a childrens’
home for the Patmos Childens’ Home at Tewobaabi, a suburb of Obuasi.

the weekend, the actress and her organization organized a well-attended
programme dubbed, ‘The Obuasi Kiddiefest’ at the Anyinam Lodge, Obuasi
in a bid to raise the funds for the development and completion of the
building for Patmos Childrens Home.

Rapper Akoo Nana says despite the
various accounts on how hip-life musician Castro disappeared on the
Volta Lake, some people are taking advantage of the situation to
disgrace the singer.
Akoo Nana, speaking on Peace FM’s
Entertainment Review over the weekend, stated that while spiritualists
were taking advantage of Castro’s disappearance to blackmail some
industry members, other people were seizing the opportunity to disgrace
him.
“Comparing what happened at Ada, the stories are too much.
The white guy who said he saw Castro on the water has been giving three
different accounts. Then we have some spiritualists also coming out to
demand money before they reveal the whereabouts of Castro. Some people
want to use the event to make their churches and themselves popular.
Some others are even taking advantage to disgrace him. More or less I
feel there is blackmailing and other things going on regarding the
issue,” the ‘Nahna’ hit maker said.
Castro drowned in the Volta
Lake at Ada on July 6 with a female acquaintance, Janet Bandu while jet
skiing. He was with Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan among other friends
at the Peace Holiday Resort when the unfortunate incident happened.
According
to Akoo Nana, “Comparing the various accounts surrounding the incident,
I feel there are no facts in there. Castro and I have been friends for
more than 18 years. We are so close. I feel Castro is alive.”
Akoo
Nana received serious bashing after alleging that Castro had been
kidnapped. Others thought the musician was using Castro’s misfortunate
to make himself popular.
Former Hip-life star, Abraham Philip
Akpor Kojo Kenya, popularly known as Lord Kenya has cautioned radio
presenters and DJ’s across the country to stop playing his hip-life
songs he describes as “ungodly”.
He said once he has repented
from his old lifestyle, anything “worldly” should not be associated with
him because he is now born again.
The former “Sika Baa” hit
maker was speaking at a thanksgiving service organized by Raffle
International Schools at Kumasi-Tanoso.
The one-time rap
heavyweight stated “If they continue to play my old songs and lead
people into destruction, God will hold them [the DJs] accountable not me
Lord Kenya,”
“They should stop playing the music - it’s my own
intellectual property and I have seen the light now so the DJ’s should
stop enjoying my songs on air” he stressed.
Lord Kenya, now
Evangelist Lord Kenya, expressed shock at the refusal of radio
presenters in Ghana to play songs from his new gospel album, "Christ
Life" which was released in 2011, but they keep playing secular songs he
recorded in the late ’90 and early 2000s.
He reiterated that he had given up on his old lifestyle and given his life to Christ so he is a new person.
Lord
Kenya is noted for secular songs like ‘Driver Susu Ko’, ‘Sika Baa’,
‘Okafuo Didi’, ‘Sika Mpo Nfaneho’ and ‘Born Again’ among others.
He
won Artiste of the Year, Hiplife Ariste of the Year, and Hiplife Album
of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards 2001, and Best Ghanaian Rap Music
Award at the Anansekrom Festival in Canada 2000 among others.
Meanwhile,
popular DJs Bills Gborgli (Papa Bills) and Samuel Nartey (DJ Awana) of
Adom FM and Hitz FM respectively disagree with Lord Kenya.
Papa
Bills thinks Lord Kenya should rather focus on promoting his gospel
songs as he promoted his hiplife songs back in the days, instead of
trying to stop DJs from playing his secular songs.
Intellectual
Property Lawyer, Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi said it will be difficult for the
presenters to heed to Lord Kenya’s directive.
He therefore
advised Lord Kenya to concentrate on his new carrier as a man of God,
and forget about what DJs do with his old songs.
Not many celebrities openly admit the
challenges that life throws at them but for rapper and Afrobeat singer,
Eazzy, it has not been difficult for her to come out boldly to say so
as she releases her first gospel song, Unknown.
The Wengeze
singer narrates in her song how she had to silently go through the most
difficult time in her life last year when all odds seemed to be against
her in her career and also in her relationship.
She told Showbiz
on Tuesday that as a young lady working hard to make life meaningful for
herself, she has learnt a great lesson that God is the solution to
everyone’s problem.
“Yes, last year, many people saw me
performing at shows and probably for some, those were the best moments
in my life but in reality, things were not going well for me at all.
I
had to brace myself for the public anytime I stepped out because as a
celebrity, one is expected to be happy all the time and that is what I
did.
“But at a point in time, I realised that if I didn’t turn to
God, things would get worse. I wasn’t happy within and what was
happening to me was beyond my understanding.
It is not as if I
was disappointed in life. But it is just that I got to a point that I
needed God to intervene. I needed Him to strengthen me to fight ahead”,
she said.
Eazzy who wasn’t interested in giving details of the
“trials” she went through said that she is happy things are gradually
turning out well for her.
Like the story of the Prodigal Son,
Eazzy, who sang about how she wants God to help her know what it takes
to be strong and hold on to life on Unknown refuted claims that she has
turned to gospel music because things were not really going on well for
her in her music career.
“It’s interesting how people have read
meanings into the song since it was released. Some have even attributed
the lyrics to my break-up with Keitta. It is not easy at all in this
journey sometimes, things really get tough and you want to give up.
“A
lot falls on my shoulders as one popular person in my family and
sometimes, it is really challenging combining personal stuff with career
ambitions,” a sober Eazzy said.
But Eazzy said despite the new
path she has taken to draw closer to God, she has no intentions to be a
gospel artiste as some people are speculating.
For her, as one
who was brought up in a God fearing way, turning to God in the most
difficult moment in her life is what is important.
“I believe the
calling of God is real and I need not pretend that I’m ready to work
for God. That is far from it. When I have the calling, I will do it.
I
don’t think that I have erred at all; the late Whitney Houston released
some gospel songs too. Sometimes, we need to let the world know what we
also go through as celebrities”, she stated.
Eazzy who is
currently working on her second album told Showbiz that she has resolved
to compose more inspirational songs henceforth and called on her fans
not to cease praying for her.
Barely 24 hours after publication
that Ghanaian radio personality and fashion designer Kofi Okyere Darko
popularly known as K.O.D will soon exit his 6 year marriage with his
wife Ophelia Crossland, the on-air personality has refuted such claims
and stated his family is intact contrary to the publications.
Refuting
the news via his Instagram page, the fashion designer shared a picture
of himself with his wife Ophelia under the caption, “To those who know
us and called because you care, thanks for the love but my house is not
on fire. Dearest Cross is still the same old warm person and there’s no
breakup. We are a happy family“.
Earlier, Beatwaves reported
that: "KOD and Ophelia are having a real hard time trying to deal with
their marital challenges, and the two are also at each other’s throat
fighting over the custody of their two children.
"The two during
their six years’ marriage organised a number of fashion shows in the
country are yet to finalize their divorce documents.
"On several occasions, celebrities have debunked news of such issues but time will definitely tell".
