I WILL BEAT ANYONE WHO TALKS AGAINST KUMASI MOVIES - KWAKU MANU

Kumasi Movies, mostly known as Kumawood movies have come under lots of criticisms for the quality of movies produced. Dominant among these condemnations is the unrestrained use of insults in the movies.

‘Kumawood’ superstar, Kwaku Manu has stated that he will personally beat anyone who talks against Kumasi movies.

In a conversation with Peace FM’s reporter, Akua Dufa Aboagye-Minta, he said those who complain about these insults in Kumasi movies buy American movies which are also dominated by insults and people going naked but because they are Americans, they find nothing wrong with it.

“Insult is part of our language but all the same, we have listened to complains of the usage of more insults in our movies. We are trying very hard to stop that act because we produce the movie for Ghanaians so if they complain, we must listen to them and change from that. For me Kwaku Manu, I’ve changed from it” He continued.

He added that most of Kumawood actors were brought up from the village so people shouldn’t be surprised for the manipulation of more insults in their movies.

“Looking at the movies we produce in Kumasi, they are village movies because most of us (Kumawood actors) are from the village. Over there, insults were used haphazardly. Our parents used to insults us anyhow even when they were calling us “

Kwaku Manu climaxed the interview with a warning to those who insult them with the pretense of criticizing their movies.

“Know how to criticize us. You don’t just condemn us anyhow and say we are illiterates that’s why we are talking like that. I, Kwaku Manu will personally beat you if I hear you insult us.”

KOJO ANTWI BREAKS SILENCE, SAYS HE RESPECTS A.B CRENTSIL

Some issues in our entertainment industry just cannot be ignored despite the fact that it will be treated by all platforms in Ghana.

One of such issues is the recent rumour and hearsay that Kojo Antwi was the legend who was to be honoured by Imajin Advertising through their Legends and Legacy annual concert until the tables turned for A.B Crentsil.

Shockingly to some people, their first hand information has proven to be false and without facts because the legend to be honoured this year is no more Kojo Antwi as speculated.

Since last week Thursday, when it became evidently clear that A.B. is the man of the moment, accusations, speculations and grapevine distribution of information has been the order of the day. The two parties involved in this brouhaha are the organizers of Legends and Legacy Ball Imajin Advertising and the music Maestro himself Kojo Antwi.

We at Flex newspaper are saying speculations because none of the two parties had confirmed the issue until last Saturday when Agyemang Prempeh, RTP nominee for best entertainment show host spoke to Kojo Antwi on phone during his Gh Entertainment show on Rainbow Radio 87.5.

In the interview, Kojo Antwi admitted that he had started negotiations with Imajin Advertising and that things fell apart along the way and the center could not hold any more.

“I have also heard many people making comments about me and my involvement with the legends concert. One thing is that I have respect for A.B Crentsil because whilst he was in his elements in his profession, I was just an elementary school person looking to him at that time and I know he is among the great musicians in our music industry. I even think such people should be honoured before us, but I won’t say much because every happening is God`s plan and at the right time, people will hear from us” he noted.

Kojo Antwi continued: “God`s time is the best so when it`s my turn and they want to honour me, it will happen. I never demanded anything strange from Imajin. Even if I will demand something, I will demand more on my stage act more than financial demands. My stagecraft is more important to me than anything.”

“Every true artiste has his or her special demands and I am no exception to that, so when a promoter starts talking to me and he is thinking about profits, I look for qualities such as sound, my stage act and the production as a whole. I have no battle with Imajin Advertising as people are saying but at the right time, you will see me” Kojo Antwi told Agyemang in a telephone interview last Saturday.

J-TOWN HONOURS AMAKYE DEDE

Ghanaian multitalented musician J-Town has dedicated his new song to Ghanaian highlife legend Amakye Dede.

The song titled ‘Amakye Dede’ is meant to give reverence to the highlife maestro Amakye Dede for his contribution and dedication to the music industry in Ghana.

“The song pays homage to Amakye Dede. He sang classic songs that people still relate and dance to and I’m doing the same thing showing that I am a serious musician. Because he—Amakye Dede—showed that he can make classics, I’m following in his footsteps to make classic music. That is why I titled the song after him,” J-Town told News One.

According J-Town who is known in real life as Stephen Menson, Amakye Dede’s popular phrase ‘serious’ in his songs makes Ghanaians go crazy when they hear the classic songs.

J-Town featured Edem and Screech on the ‘Amakye Dede’ single which was released online on Tuesday. Screech is the latest addition to J-Town’s
H.O.O.D. record label.

“I put together Edem and Screech, my artistes who is signed to my label on that song. I felt that the three of us on the song would make it classic so I wanted to combine highlife and hip-pop. Basically, we want our fans to know that the three of us together, we are serious.

If you listen to the song, you will realize that the two of us have done certain things in our careers to be here and we are very serious artistes. No matter what you do, you cannot take us a joke that is one of the reasons we are paying homage to Amakye Dede who said serious in his songs and made them classic. We trying to make this a classic hip-pop song,” J-Town stated.

The sensational rapper and singer is one of the few Ghanaians who have actually recognized and appreciated the works of music legends in Ghana.

AKON & WIZKID REJECT DARK SKINNED GIRLS IN GHANA...

Ahead of the upcoming concert that will see the likes of Akon, Wizkid, Sarkodie and more in Ghana, controversy sparks!

In a recent video shoot for an up and coming Akon and Wizkid video, some Ghanaian models and girl were called upon to participate by the directors a few days ahead of the shoot. Presumably prior to Akon and Wizkid’s arrival in Ghana.

A model reported on the day of the shoot some girls were turned away as the agent (or the man responsible for calling them) informed them that “they now want half cast girls”. A term used to describe girls with mixed heritage, usually ones with white blood in them.

“THEY”, most likely referring to Wizkid, Akon and/or his music video producer, turning away a fleet of arrivals originally requested to attend by the model scout. In fact, the agent requested if the girls could help him seek light skinned girls because ‘THEY’ were so adamant on this request even on late notice.

Nigeria, where Wizkid is from, and Senegal where Akon is from, are countries both flooded with girls bleaching their skin simply because of such discrimination and being made to feel ugly if dark.

Not just in media and modelling, but general favours in life. Whilst there are good people in both countries trying to reverse the self esteem damage of such activities such as Adama Paris who banned skinned bleach models from the Senegalese national fashion week, Akon and Wizkid’s team are trying to further such acts internationally.

If this is the intentions Akon and the arrogant side kick Wizkid wish to introduce to Ghana, then we will be more than glad to uninvite them. Unfortunately for these bigots, Ghana has never been a land where girls are discriminated for skin tone in any field. In such matters, it is obvious they will pass the blame onto an employee to maintain their reputation.

But for any such behavior, both these artists should be boycotted until their position is clarified.

It’s a shame that grown men who might be an inspiration to some still hover the Earth will a very small minded approach when it comes to reality.

It might come across as simply music video request, but it’s a habit existing in our countries born out of colonial rule, that unfortunately is also birth of skin colour discrimination and self esteem damage.

Thank God Sarkodie did not sign to Akon’s label Konvict. All I can say is I am looking forward to the departure of Akon and Wizkid from Ghana. That would be great news. In fact we would be very glad if any model continues to report any such activities going on in Africa (with remits) so we can name and shame the real perpetrators behind the skin bleaching epidemic.

"I SLEPT WITH OVER 200 LADIES INCLUDING FEMALE GOSPEL MUSICIAN"– MORRIS BABY FACE

The Bible says “If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He (God) is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”

Born again Musician and one time VGMA Best Music Producer, Morris Baby Face now known as Morris D’Voice surprised listeners of Kumasi based HELL0 101.5 FM, after confessing having myriad serious sex with “fine ladies “all over the country.

Morris D’Voice who was once a kingpin in Ghana’s secular music said he regrets living a worthless life before accepting Christ as his personal saviour.

According to him, having sex was his hobby, revealing that, he explored his erotic skills with over two hundred (200) ladies including some female gospel musicians he worked with as a beat maker.
“I can’t recall the number yet but I think it will exceed 200 including some known female gospel musicians” he said.

Morris sudden confession raised questions as to whether popular award winning gospel musician, Esther Smith was also one of his numerous “Sex-mate” aside producing her songs but he debunked the rumor saying “I never did anything with Esther Smith or dated her as people are saying. She was older than me and I respect her very well. We lived in the same area (Estate in Kumasi) so we see each other often”

Adding that, “I think people started speculating that I had something doing with Esther because everybody knew me to be bad so seeing both of us, they might think she (Esther Smith) was one of my numerous girls friends but let me say it here that Esther and I did nothing apart from being friends and music”

Speaking to HELLO FM’s Dave Hammah, Morris D’Voice opined that despite his iniquities, he is thankful to have accepted Christ at a time he nearly lost his life.

He noted that, he was prophesied by one Prophet Emmanuel Amoah to save perishing souls who after his friend had invited him to his church.
“I prayed to God to let me see signs and wonders to prove that he really sent me to the pastor and what he said was true. In my dream on that very day, I saw Jesus. Surprisingly, my friend who took me to the pastor also came to tell me the same thing.

“…It wasn't easy leaving my old life because after fasting from six to six, a lady will call me all in the name of sex. My soul will reject but the body will call for it. I woke up one day and couldn't work, paralyzed for some time before I came to my normal life. I would have been dead if not for God” he said.
