STOP UNNECESSARY KISSING IN MOVIES – NANA AMA MCBROWN

Beautiful Ghanaian actress and movie producer, Nana Mcbrown has added her voice to the call for avoiding unnecessary kissing in movies.

The actress who found mainstream success following her rousing performance in the Twi-language movie, Nsem Pii on Radio Univers suggested that the Ghanaian value should be at heart when shooting a movie than paying attention to the financial benefits the kissing scenes will come with.

The actress stated that kissing in movies cannot be faked or omitted but should be done when needed.

“If you really understand movies, you will realize that kissing cannot be deleted from it but there are some kissing scenes which are really not necessary – the scenes doesn’t call for kissing. Just because the person is your partner does not necessary mean you should kiss.”

“Kids of today have access to the internet and many things which they can use to get hold of our movies at any point in time so as a Ghanaian, you should exhibit our culture, tradition and values first”

She added that “kissing doesn’t belong to the western world but for human beings and that doesn’t mean you should do it anyhow in movies”

The actress born Felicity Ama Agyemang revealed that some kissing scenes are unnecessary but shot in movies for advertisement sake.

“There are so many scenes that do not call for it but because they know if they show those scenes in adverts it will sell the movie then they shoot it. I will read the translate the script with you and if the scene does not call for a kiss, it will be omitted” Mcbrown told Abrantepa, host of the show.

ABRANTIE ROCKS LONDON

Abrantie Amakye Dede’s performance at the Dominion Centre, Wood Green in London, three weeks ago will be remembered as the best put up by any artiste this year.

The event, which was organised by Akwaaba Promotion, attracted thousands of music fans who turned up to reunite with old pals and reminisce about ‘the good old days’.

Abrantie became the toast of Ghanaian music fans in London including top stars from the Ghanaian movie, radio and music industries when he put up splendid performances there.

Amakye Dede, also known as ‘Seeeeerious’, was at his best. He sent fans into a frenzy when he performed some of his chart toppers.

Exhibiting abundance of energy and excellent stage skills, as usual, he sang melodious songs for close to four-hours that sent highlife music fans to the dancing floor.

He dazzled with well-known tunes such as ‘To Be a Man’, ‘odo Da Babi’, ‘Broken Promise’, ‘Odontinamesu’, and ‘odo Men Su’–as he jogged around and the crowd sang along loudly.

The highlife legend proved to everybody that he is still as strong as ever, and he can also deliver whenever he is called upon for a performance. ‘Emaa Pe Sokoo’ he blared into the microphone, and the crowd in unison responded ‘Sokoo Ne Emaa Pe’.

Good and vibrant music aside, what has kept Amakye Dede going is his humility and his sense of realisation that he belongs to a place of rich cultural heritage.

Amakye Dede has not only got talent as a musician, but character as a humble and disciplined performer, a combination that has made him not only a role model, but a powerful magnet that could bring great men and women together.

Amakye has never succumbed to the iniquities of foreign cultures that adore obscenity and profanity. What others may say with filthy vulgarity, Amakye would weave in intricate proverbs and wise sayings of our great forebears and arrive effectively with the same meaning without any offence.

He is one of Ghana’s premier highlife artistes and is called ‘Iron Boy’, ‘The highlife maestro’ and ‘Abrantie’.

Dede began his career in 1973 when he joined the Kumapim Royals as a composer and vocalist. This band, led by Akwasi Ampofo Agyei (AAA), had hits like ‘Abebi Bewua Eso’, ‘Wanware Me A’, ‘Odo Mani Agyina’ and the seminal ‘Ohohoo Batani’. Dede moved to Nigeria where he had his hit ‘Jealousy Go Shame’.

He then formed his own band, the Apollo High Kings, in 1980. He dominated the highlife scene in the 1980s and 1990s and continues to have hit songs in the 21st century.

He has almost 20 albums to his credit. In his later career, he experimented with different genres; soca, calypso, lovers rock and pop music.

"I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH AGYA KOO"

Actor Wayoosi has said he is in good terms with his fellow actor, Agya Koo. The actor who has been off cameras since 2012 debunked claims that, Agya Koo didn’t want to act with him and also, it was neither because producers had neglected him.

Speaking to Abrantepa on Radio Univers’ Brunch2Lunch, Wayoosi said, “It’s true I have not been acting for a while. My absence from movies is as a result of a problem I had with my leg.

I had to travel to America to seek medical attention. I thought I would recover soon, but that couldn’t happen. Consequently, I had to stay off cameras. Thank God I have fully recovered."

This was in response to Agya Koo’s earlier claim that Kumasi producers had decided not to feature Wayoosi, Katawere, Mercy Asiedu and many others in their movies.

Chief Executive Officer of Miracle Films, Mr. Samuel Nyamekye had earlier said the absence of those veterans was as a result of Agya Koo’s decision not to act with them.

Wayoosi however recounted that, Agya Koo decided not to act with him in the past. In effect, he (Wayoosi) went to apologize to Agya Koo and as such, resolving the issue.

“He (Agya Koo) said he wouldn’t act with me due to some incidence during one of our travels. But I apologized to him through Samuel Nyamekye of Miracle Films. We have no differences to settle now.

Producers were not engaging me not because Agya Koo decided not to act with me, but because of my health conditions," Wayoosi said.

She said there was no feud between them as widely reported and preferred people enjoyed their individual talents instead of attacking their personal lives.

“I don’t know why people will say we have issues with each other. I appreciate Vera’s talent and if she is doing well I’m happy for her. We need more of that and she is good at it so why not?”

Kaakie took a year’s break off the music scene to complete her Nursing Program at the University of Ghana, Legon.

In her absence, promising artiste MzVee shot up and is winning the hearts of dancehall lovers.

WE CAN’T ARREST ASAMOAH GYAN – POLICE

The Police Administration has downplayed calls to arrest Asamoah Gyan, the captain of the Black Stars, over the disappearance of hiplife artiste Theophilus Tagoe, aka ‘Castro the Destroyer’.

The police have come under constant attacks by the general public over their failure to arrest Asamoah Gyan, aka Baby Jet, as the ‘prime suspect’ months after the disappearance of Castro and his lady friend, Janet Bandu.

It will be recalled that the father of Janet Bandu, Staff Sergeant (rtd) Joe Bandu, recently petitioned the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to arrest Asamoah Gyan, in respect of his (Joe Bandu’s) missing daughter and Castro.

Castro, together with Janet Bandu, went missing during a jet-ski ride at the Aqua Safari Beach Resort, Ada in the Greater Accra Region, on July 6, 2014.

This was after Castro and Baby Jet had gone to the resort for recreation.

Addressing a news conference in Accra yesterday, Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, DCOP Prosper K. Agblor, said the police could not arrest Asamoah Gyan for any offence.

He said, “I have told you that they are assisting us; we don’t just rush to arrest, arrest him for what offence?” DCOP Agblor added that the police would not hesitate to arrest Asamoah Gyan “if there is the need to.”

The CID boss stated that Baby Jet was “tremendously” assisting the police in their investigations.

Still Missing

DCOP Agblor said the police were still treating the two as missing.

“For now the police are treating them as missing until they are found either dead or alive in accordance with the Evidence Decree of 1975 (NRCD 323) Section 33,” he said.

He continued, “The missing persons cannot be said to be dead until they have not been heard of for seven years, despite diligent efforts.”

He said after the disappearance of Castro and Janet, two bodies of adult males had been discovered at the Sakumono and Anyanui beaches but none of them had been identified to be that of Castro.

He claimed that the search for the two was still ongoing, adding that the Ghana police were also in contact with neighbouring countries through INTERPOL in their investigations.

Dr. Ampaw’s Invitation

Meanwhile, the Director-General of the CID also disclosed that plans were underway to invite private legal practitioner, Dr. Maurice Ampaw, in connection with his recent comments on the matter.

The legal practitioner is quoted as having said that he would by the end of this month reveal the whole truth surrounding the whereabouts of Castro.

He is reported to have said that Asamoah Gyan must come out with the truth.

“You cannot hide the truth; the truth is only one and I promise by the end of this month, I will come out with more revelations,” Dr. Ampaw is quoted as saying.

Dr. Ampaw is reported to have said that upon his own investigation, he had found out that a necklace worn by Castro was later found in a dustbin hours before he and his lady friend got missing.

I don’t know what you mean by that, but I have made it my policy not to date an industry person, and John and I find ourselves in the same showbiz industry,” Joselyn explained on Peace FM’s Entertainment Review last Saturday.

“I am a proud mother, and it is already out there that I have a child, but what people are not sure of is whether the child is a son or a daughter. My child is still young, and until she becomes an adult, I am responsible for making decisions for her. I am the one who has decided to be in the media; my child has not made such a decision so I have to keep her out, and I think you must understand me and respect the decisions I make for my child.

“When she becomes of age, and she decides to be in the media, I would allow her; all I may do is to guide her. But until then, I have decided to protect her from the media and the public for now,” the actress explained.

The actress had gone to the Entertainment Review programme to propagate her upcoming campaign against the spread of cholera, but the discussion panel decided to ask her a few questions outside the subject for which she went there.

“On Tuesday, we would be at Okaishie, in the Central Bussiness District of Accra, to preach against cholera. I would be there in person, Tinny would be there, several of my fellow filmmakers and friends from the music industry would also be there to create awareness on cholera.

“Our focus would be to create awareness on the prevention of cholera and also to let people know it has a cure. This whole thing is about maintaining good hygienic lifestyles and nothing more,” Joselyn explained.

BEWARE OF LONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIP - BISA KDEI

If there is one thing that highlife singer, Bisa Kdei, will never encourage anyone to go in for, is long distance relationship. This is evident in his latest work, Distance Relationship where he advises people to be wary of such unions.

Based on a true life story, Distance Relationship which features upcoming artiste, Medikal, talks about how an ex-girlfriend he (Bisa Kdei) trusted betrayed his love by dumping him for another guy because of the distance.

He sings about how he had travelled to the US to seek greener pastures to make life better for himself and his ex-girlfriend referred to as Florence in the song. While he was hustling abroad, Florence was two-timing and to add insults to injury, Florence spent the remittances he sent to her on her boyfriends.

Bisa Kdei is noted for singing on his previous songs such as Odo Carpenter, Azonto Ghost, Baba, Over and Metanfo but he takes a different twist on Distance Relationship when he spiced it up with some raps.

Touching on his new song in an interview with Graphic Showbiz, Bisa Kdei said he wouldn’t advise anyone to get involved in a long distance relationship.

“I have been there before and I know what I am talking about. Long distance relationships are not something I will encourage my friends or any family member to engage in. It is better to have your partner around you all the time” Bisa said.

The Odo Carpenter hit maker said he would be embarking on a nationwide tour soon to give his fans all over the country the opportunity to watch him live in performance.

“I haven’t been close to my fans and I know they are waiting to interact with me and I will do that on this tour.

He is currently working on his second album which is scheduled for release in December this year.

MY HUSBAND KEEPS ME TRENDY

Award Winning gospel singer, Herty Borngreat, maintains a type of taste of trendy fashion that does not make her look like the mother of six, but rather a young married woman yet to give birth.

Known as ‘The Lady With The Holy Swagg’, Herty has physical looks that have always remained a subject of public discussion. Some have even doubted if she indeed has six children.

NEWS-ONE put the question to her on how come she always looks trendy despite her number of children, and she said her husband played a direct role in the way she looks.

“It all started after I got married. Before then, I had not even worn a weave-on or synthetic hair. I was just a very simple girl doing my own thing in my own small way.

It could be because I was born and raised in a mission house and it was not easy for me to wear jeans trousers and such things. I never wore them until I got married and my husband said I should start wearing them because he wants me to look very nice for him. He even had to force me to go to the salon to do my hair. I was a university graduate but I was not really into fashion. Hope you get me?” Herty disclosed.

She recently made history by becoming the first Ghanaian musician to cross a million likes on facebook. Her page, ‘Herty Borngreat Music’, was created less than two years ago—in the latter part of 2012—and is mostly filled with photos of the musician, updates on her concerts, daily Christian messages, words of encouragement and inspirational quotes which attract thousands of likes and comments on a daily basis.

Hitting over a million likes from a global audience, ranks Herty Borngreat among the likes of Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan, Nigerian actress Omotola, Pastor E. Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God and Ghanaian actor John Dumelo, who also earned a million likes on his facebook page in 2014, six years after it was created in 2008

CASTRO’S FAMILY ATTACKS SPIRITUALIST IN HIS HOUSE AND DEMANDS CASTRO WITHIN SEVEN (7) DAYS

Embittered family of Hiplife musician, Castro, real name Theophilus Tagoe, who is feared dead or missing, has confronted a spiritualist they once consulted to produce Castro within 7 days or face the family’s wrath.

On Saturday 6th September, 2014, one Prophet Samuel Baffoe, Founder of Elshadai Prayer Ministry, located in Spintex, revealed on Adom TV’s ‘Anansekrom’ that family of Castro consulted him to find out why Castro’s tragic fate and to find out if he is dead or alive.

Speaking to GhanaCelebrities.Com, Prophet Baffoe reiterated what he said on TV has caught the fury of Castro’s family. “Castro’s family consulted me some few weeks after the whole tragedy happened. I told them before I work on the issue they should go and meet another spiritualist because the case is a thorny one.

“I therefore directed them to a spiritualist and the things they heard into their own ears, they were shocked! The spiritualist disclosed to them that Castro has been consulting him. The man said he has been helping Castro to make hits!” Prophet Baffoe said. He further revealed that just after the show when he got out of the studio, Castro’s father called and threatened him.

“After that TV interview, Castro’s father called – haranguing on the phone out of fury, that why did I reveal on the show that they consulted me! Meanwhile, I did not go to the show to speak about Castro. The host asked me a question about Castro and Asamoah Gyan’s recent anger at a journalist and in answering I said Castro’s family consulted me.

“Castro’s father threatened me on phone! Last week Tuesday (9th Sept, 2014), Castro’s father and a fair lady he claimed is Castro’s wife, stormed my outfit at 10am and started insulting me – creating a scene! He attacked me and also threatened to expose a conversation I had with them earlier when they visited me to the police to arrest me!

“They are now demanding Castro from me. As we speak, they have given me 7 days to produce Castro else they will teach me a lesson” he said. Prophet Baffoe, who believes in spiritual justice, said he will not report the case to the police but he won’t also leave the matter to rest.

For Castro’s family’s side, GhanaCelebrities.Com gathered from one family member that though they are very angry at the turn of events, they have convened a family meeting and have strongly resolved not to grant interviews on the issue any more because they want to allow the police to do their work.

However, Prophet Baffoe is of a strong conviction that Castro is not dead. “Castro is not dead. He is alive. At the right time, the truth will come out for all to see.” He ended with the paper. In another development, social interest lawyer, Maurice Ampaw, has also reckoned that from his independent investigations, Castro is alive but Janet Bandu is dead.

“You cannot hide the truth! The truth is only one and I promise by the end of this month, I will come out with more revelations” lawyer Ampaw has assured the general public.

Castro and a female acquaintance Janet Bandu got missing on the Volta estuary when he and Asamoah Gyan, Baffour Gyan, Samuel Anim, and others went jet skiing in the waters at Aqua Safari Beach Resort in Ada on 6th July, 2014.

The Ghana police service told a section of the media on Monday that they are still earnestly searching for Castro and Janet. We wait to see what will come up in subsequent times. Until then…MOTWUM!!

"AGYA KOO TALKS TOO MUCH"- BANDEX

Ahmed Banda known in showbiz circles as Bandex has asked actor Agya Koo to stop talking on issues related to his grudge with Kumasi movie producers.

In an interview on Radio Univers’ Brunch2Lunch hosted by Abrantepa, Bandex noted that the more Agya Koo talks on the issue, the more he steps on so many toes.

“He talks too much. I will advise him to avoid talking about the issue on air. As he tries to justify his stance, he ends up muddying the waters. He misfires even when he has a point. This is all due to bitterness”, he said.

Agya Koo over the weekend had a verbal altercation with movie producer Samuel Nyamekye over the latter’s comments that Agya Koo deemed derogatory. The issue has spread like wildfire leading to many entertainment critics raising lots of criticisms from different angles.

Bandex who expressed displeasure about the trend the issue was taking advised Agya Koo to be mindful of how he handles it.

Meanwhile, the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG) has asked the two parties to cease fire now as the association tries to bring the issue to rest.

Public Relations Officer of FIPAG, Ola confirmed on the show that the two have agreed not to continue the radio upfront again.

He disclosed that FIPAG will be meeting them this week.

I DON’T KNOW WHERE CASTRO IS...

Lawyer Maurice Ampaw, who claimed he had information about the whereabouts of Theophilus Tagoe also known as Castro and Janet Bandu, now says “I don’t know where Castro is.”

According to him, it was a misreport by a section of the media which suggested that he said he knew the whereabouts of the two persons who disappeared on the shores of Ada.

Castro and Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan were at the Aqua Safari, a beach resort in Ada, together with some friends in July, 2014, for recreation when the musician (Castro) went jet skiing.

Reports were that Castro might have drowned while trying to save Janet who was alleged to have fallen off the bike.

“If I knew where Castro was, why should I wait for end of September?” Mr. Ampaw questioned.

He had indicated that he would be presenting his investigations into the matter to the police at the end of September, this year.

Mr. Ampaw has been invited by the police to help with investigations because of his assertions in the media that he knew the location of Castro and Janet.

He confirmed to Joy News’ Kwakye Afreh Nuamah that he has been contacted by DSP Cephas Arthur and Director in-charge of the Homicide Unit to help the police in their investigations and indicated he would honour it.

He had called for two types of investigations – search and intelligence gathering and investigations into the sudden disappearance of the two persons.

The Director General of the police CID, COP Prosper Kwame Agblor said at a news conference Monday that “Anyone who has any information should come to us and volunteer the information. Because I’ve already stated that we are still searching for them. If the lawyer feels that they are not dead.

“It’s in line with what I’ve stated that we are not considering them dead until we find their bodies. So if that lawyer has anything, he should come and volunteer the information to us then together we will work to unravel the mystery.”

Mr. Ampaw said “I think I want to say kudos to the Ghana Police. They are doing a great job and I think that it is the duty of every citizen to respond to the call of the police to help police in their investigations.”

“And as a citizen, I think I owe the nation a duty; the police a duty to help in the investigations so it’s a call in the right direction,” he added.

He continued he would be glad to go out there to assist the police in whatever capacity to give them the needed information.

He also assured the police he would share his legal experience with them as to how best they could all unravel the mystery behind Castro and Janet’s disappearance.

“I OWN MY WORDS" - JIM IYKE

Nollywood actor, Jim Iyke, has expressed his feelings to fans that he owns his words but owe people the interpretation to anything he says or write as it is best known to him.

Jim Iyke explained that a person might say something but people might have different perception to whatever is said and as such, might get people confused.

He added that though people might think bad about a person, he will always remain who he is.

Hear him;

“I own my words but I owe people the interpretation. Men dt wear their intentions on their faces sometimes. As much as one might have a good intention for their actions, his action may seem parallel to his intention depending on hw peo perceive it. As much as perception is good, when viewed wrongly can lead to deception. Even tho wat peo think about you may bear relevance, I am what I think. #Introspection #InsideOut #EmpireStateOfMind #LawsOfRecognition #Impervious #MyDarkThots #DmBae.”

I DON’T WANT TO GET MARRIED NOW - SELLY

Former Big Brother Africa housemate, Selly, can be a rather funny young woman sometimes, people who are close to her say. The actress and television show host is asking her boyfriend of four years-plus to do an unusual thing – propose to her all over again.

Selly’s boyfriend, Praye Tietia, a member of the once popular Praye hiplife trio, curiously was the one who set Selly’s mind to the unusual request.

Last month, when Selly’s mother was marking her birthday, Praye sent her a message on Facebook referring to her as “mother -in-law”.

He wrote, “Happy Birthday to the most amazing mother-in-law. I love you”. But it seems the harmless gesture was taken quite seriously by some people. Their case?

Praye Tietia also known as Big J should not refer to Selly’s mother as an in-law since there had not been formal rites to tie their union.

The argument had gone back and forth in social media circles until last Tuesday when Selly came to the defence of her heartthrob. “We have both noted the concerns of many of our fans and followers but we don’t want to be pressured at all.

Why the pressure? There shouldn’t be anything of that sort because we are two mature adults and know what we are about,” she said.

According to Selly who is in her twenties, as the only child, she has been receiving similar concerns from her mother but has convinced her into understanding that the “real deal will come on when the time is due”.

The exposure from her Big Brother participation no doubt opened many opportunities for Selly afterwards and she admitted that, she is poised to make a success out of such endeavours, the reason she said have put their legalising their relationship on hold for now.

“It is not that I appreciate being with a man who has not formally married me. I know my worth as a woman. It hurts to read some demeaning comments about my person but I want people to know that, I don’t want my children to go hungry so I’m building a strong future for them.

“Thankfully, after Big Brother, I have had big deals and opportunities and I want to build my career. That is what I’m doing now. Marriage would come afterwards. But for now, I say ‘we don’t need this pressure’,” she stated.

Even though Selly has been defending Big J, she took a romantic swipe at her sweetheart when she issued an “ultimatum” to him to officially propose to her again.

“He gave me a promissory ring two years ago just to drive away the men but I want a special proposal this time around. That proposal has expired. I want a new one,” she jokingly said.

Currently, the host of Cine Afrik Premieres on Multi TV, Selly who lost out on the award for the Most Promising Actress at the City People’s Awards earlier this year said she has plans on hitting it big on the screens next year.

“I thank God that my show on Multi TV is really doing well and my acting career is also getting better each day. I’m just grateful people appreciate the talent that I have. But the public should expect something big from Big J and I soon”, she hinted.

When asked to give details of the “hidden” project, she remarked, “It is a surprise so would lose its secrecy when I disclose what we have in store. What I can say for now is that, there is a new branded Praye Tietia in the making”.

As a way of giving back to the society, Selly noted that she plans on spending her birthday which falls on September 26, with some orphanages in the country.

She said that her fans should watch out for the launch of her new cosmetic range of products this year.
