TAKE ME SERIOUSLY AS A MAN OF GOD - KENYA

Three years ago, hiplife rap heavyweight champion, Lord Kenya decided to stop rapping to “entertain the world” and start preaching the gospel after he had had “a personal encounter with God”.

The born again musician also declared that he was going to make every effort to bring his hiplife fans along with him to his new-found Christian world.

Last weekend, he celebrated three years of evangelism and the thick crowd that thronged the venue for the celebrations, the auditorium of the Kumasi Technical Institute (KTI), indicated that Lord Kenya’s dream of winning more souls for Christ was becoming a reality.

Lord Kenya was joined by top gospel stars, Rev Seth Frimpong, Joe Beecham, Moses OK, Jack Alolome, Esther Smith, Agnes Opoku Agyemang and Frank Boakye to minister to the audience through the power of music.

Other musicians on the bill were Brother Sammy, Slim Becky, Brother Jackson, the Levites, Frank Boakye, Agape Incorporated, Angel Michael Osei and Brother Gideon.

He was supported by some pastors in word ministration. The preachers included, Apostle Sampson Offen, Rev Ama Nyantekyiwaa and Pastor Agyemang Dua.

Also present at the event was the Nzema Community Chief of Kumasi, Nana Akpor Kainya and his wife, who came to support, Lord Kenya, a son of Nzema in the Western Region.

The former hiplife icon repeated his call on people who doubted his call to evangelism to have a change of mind and begin to take him seriously as a man of God.

“They were with me on the other side (hiplife world), now I have moved to the side of Jesus Christ and I am pleading with them to follow me so that we can all be together as one big family in Christ,” he said.

Lord Kenya aka Abraham Philip Kojo Akpor Kainya was the first hiplife artiste to win the coveted Artiste of the Year prize at the Ghana Music Awards (GMA) in the year 2000.

He has also won Hiplife Album of the Year twice, Song of the Year (with the hit track, Medo on the Yeesom Sika album, released in 2001); and the Best Rap Artiste, plus several nominations at the GMAs over the last decade.

In October, 2010 he announced his retirement from hiplife showmanship, saying he had been called to serve God as an evangelist.

MASTER RICHARD: ACTING IS SPIRITUAL

He was a delight to watch as he cracked ribs playing Master Richard in Taxi Driver.

He did same as Dada Boat in Dada Boat and after about a decade hiatus, Mikki Osei-Berko is back again to endear himself to viewers as Dada Cash in the Yello Cafe television series.

And how is he able to consistently do that? Well, while most actors attribute their success in acting to passion, for Master Richard, his ‘little secret’ over the years has been his consideration that, ‘“acting is spiritual”.

“It takes one with a spiritual mind to understand what acting is all about. I have always given a spiritual interpretation to my roles because I play characters that are different from the real me and to perfectly perform such roles, my spirit being must understand that role so that I can effectively communicate” he said in an interview with Showbiz last Tuesday.

“God has blessed me with the talent to be versatile because acting is spiritual for me. I interpret my role based on the communication I have with my spirit being and that has been my little weapon till date,” he stated.

Speaking on his new role as Dada Cash in the new Yello Café television series, Mikki who made his debut appearance last Saturday said that even though he is yet to receive feedback on his performance, he was quite optimistic it will bring back nostalgia and take viewers down memory lane

Mikki who had a stint with Adom FM for about a year when he returned to Ghana after his about 10 years sojourn in the UK said that he is yet to get his groove back even though it has been “interesting, funny and a bit difficult”.

“I was away for quite a long time and need to learn the new trend in the industry as things are quite different now. There are new players and they all have their style so you need to study the new things that have emerged and that is what I am doing now.

“I came back feeling more educated and matured as a performer. I learnt a lot when I travelled outside and I feel I am now a better actor and performer than I used to be and now back home I have to put all that into practice.

“I have watched a couple of my series and movies that I starred in and I must admit that I get embarrassed sometimes because I feel I could have performed better. I can beat my chest and say that I am a better person now,” he added.

Mikki who is also a stand up comedian hinted of a comedy show scheduled for December to raise money to promote and create awareness on breast cancer which he described as a “committed task”.
He said that even though he has held a number of stand-up comedy shows both in and outside the country, they were not publicised and believes the time is now right for people to have a taste of that aspect of his character.

“We have great talents in comedy in the country but we have not provided the right platform for them and that is why our comedy industry is not growing. We need to support our own”.
Mikki started as a theatre stage performer who later hosted Radio Gold’s drive time programme Agoro.

He holds an English FA 2010/2011 UEFA B Football coaching certificate and is very optimistic that he will coach one of the clubs in the Ghana Premier League “when the right opportunity comes.”

GHAMRO UNDER PRESSURE TO ELECT SUBSTANTIVE EXECUTIVES

Pressure is once again mounting at the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO) where displeased members have intensified their call on the leadership to hold election and pave way for a permanent administration.

The Spectator Agoro is reliably informed that the current 14-member Board was constituted almost two years ago at the birth of the organization and given a one-year mandate to oversee its affairs and subsequently hold elections to elect a permanent Board.

However, two years down the line, the Board has yet to hold fresh elections that would pave way for a new administration.

GHAMRO received the certification to operate as a collective society for Ghanaian musicians on December 23, 2011, replacing the erstwhile Copyright Society of Ghana (COSGA) which was supervised by the Attorney-General.

The organization has since been rocked by internal agitations which have crippled the realization of the expectations of some member. The payment and administration of royalties due members have particularly featured in such wranglings.

This is not the first time the conduct of elections and the formation of a permanent Board have come up. In recent past, some key figures, including one-time members of the interim Board, have all called for elections but to no avail.

Two celebrated Highlife musicians, Rex Omar and Charles Amoah, who, hitherto, were members of the Board, resigned their positions earlier this year and cited the issue about the election as part of their reasons.

Election Coming?
Amakyi Dede Highlife legends Nana Kwame Ampadu and Abrantie Amakye Dede, among others, have all shared similar sentiments in the past, among a host of stakeholder forums where the issue has come up.

Nonetheless, latest information available to the Spectator Agoro indicates that, the Board may finally be holding the election in the coming weeks – either in December or early 2014.

A source told this reporter that the issue came up strongly during a recent meeting of the board held on Friday, September 20, and attended by all its members, with the exception of Amandzeba Nat Brew, a deputy Chairman, who had travelled.

Present were the Chairman, Carlos Sakyi; deputy chair K.K Kabobo, Mary Ghansah, Kojo Antwi, Mark Okreku-Mantey, Abebe (please, add the rest….)

The Spectator Agoro will keep you posted on emerging developments, including an exclusive story on ‘candidates’ who have nursed ambitions to vie for the chairman’s seat.

WE DIDN’T BAN MERCY JOHNSON, SHE IS RUDE AND WALKS OUT ON SET – FILM MARKETERS

I believe this is the first time one will be hearing that Mercy Johnson is rude. This is what the Onitsha marketers who filed a petition against her claims. They said apart from charging high, Mercy Johnson is rude and walks out on set.
This was revealed by the chairman of the association in an interview with The Nation Newspaper.

He said complaints were brought against Mercy Johnson for her rudeness and how she often walks out from movie location without proper notice.

He said the Onitsha branch of the organization made several petitions against Mercy Johnson that she often dictates to people who pay her to work on movie set.

Ajaegbu said a meeting to address Mercy Johnson’s indiscipline has been fixed for Thursday November 7th, 2013.

This is what the chairman of Film, Video Producers and Markers Association of Nigeria, (FVPMAN) said on the issue:

We did not ban Mercy Johnson, and this is authoritative. Let me tell you what happened; we had a National Working Committee meeting which I presided over. The leadership of the Onitsha branch came up with an issue that most of the artistes are charging exceedingly high. On that issue I ruled that such is the function of a competitive market; arguing that if an artiste is charging for example, N5 million, they are free to pick another artiste, who may charge N500, 000, if that is what they can afford.

On Mercy Johnson’s high movie fee, FVPMAN chairman said:

I also made them to understand that we are gunning for the day an artiste in Nigeria would be paid N100 million or sign N100 million as a contract fee, because that is the way to show that we are progressing. We can’t afford to remain in one spot for years Mercy Johnson’s Rudeness & Indiscipline On Movie Set I think they understood that, but they also brought complaints against Mercy that she sometimes walks out on set.

They said sometimes, people would pay her for a job but she would prefer to give priority to those that are paying higher. On that issue, I said we cannot take a decision because there is no formal petition.

I told them to go back to their zone, discuss it and come out with a formal decision. We have fixed another meeting for Thursday, November 7, to see if there will be any petition. That was all that was said, so I am surprised that there is false news flying around that Mercy has been banned. If action would be taken, we would call her personally and inform her primary guild.”

If the case brought against her is true, then Mercy Johnson needs to be careful because pride goes before a fall.

The outcome of their meeting on Thursday will determine Mercy Johnson‘s fate in Nollywood.

SARKODIE PUNCHES EVENT ORGANIZERS

The most influential artist in Ghana for seasons now, Sarkodie is actually throwing punches
to Event Organizers In Ghana for using his picture for advert, knowing very well that Sarkodie inst going to perform on that said Event.

He stated it out that the organizers couldn’t meet his demands for that event and started saying he is a (TOO KNOWN) Artist just because he asked of a dressing room for that show.. HMMMMMM…

According to his punches, it is more likely that he actually contacted the event organizers on this issue after he realized they are not going to put him on that platform, asking them about his image on the bill when he inst performing but these organizers said they don’t know who actually printed Sarkodie’s image.

This made the organizers publish a new poster without Sarkodie’s image forgetting the old one is still on the net winning the attention of Sarkodie’s fans, which is automatically and indirectly increasing the fan base for that show.

I don't actually know Sarkodie in person but he doesnt look like he has ever been this mad and pissed even though he faced a lot of temptations climbing up the ladder.. But within these few hours, if any one knows the mood of Obidi now then it will be nothing different from PISSED…

Check out some of his tweets……… All these tweets are actually sourced from Sarkodie’s official twitter page @sarkodie

“Event organisers ve been shittin on gh musicians 4 loong”
“I Ve never been this type but it hurts….. show some respect… cos we deserve…”

“Same media gon make u look like u arrogant when u speak out cos they dun wan people 2 know da shit they do”

“They choose to meet all demands made by foreign acts … and tell me im too known cos I said I need dressing room.. WTF”

“We don’t ve one musician taking gh 2 da nxt level cos they get killed even b4 they get der….. But watch me… God forbid”

“All they waiting 4 is 4 me 2 fall so they wudn’t ve 2 go by ma rules… goodluck… they never wanna see a powerful musician”

Sarkodie really throwing punches on twitter.
We hope he cools and chill up cos its just part of the obstacles in the entertainment industry…

‘BACK IN THE DAY’ CONCERT RETURNS

In the year 2012, the Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre was the place to be as the organizers, Empire Entertainment, in their usual fashion drew Ghanaians to come out and have fun, sing along and dance to their favourite tunes that made wave way back in the late 90s and early 2000.

That year, being the maiden event from the organizers, it lived up to its expectation from the delivery of tunes as the audience had nothing to leave back as they sang to every old tune that kept them awake those days. And to say the least, the boom box styled stage was just brilliant.

That night had a long list of ‘old soldiers’ rock the stage with their hops, bounces and swags; the roll call were T-Blaze, Ded Buddy, TH4Kwages, Abrewa Nana, Joe Fraizer, NFL, Akatakyie, Keteke, Ex-Doe, Chicago, Slim Buster, Kontihene, Sonny Achiba, Lord Kenya, Obrafour, VIP, et al.

This year, on the 6th of December, 2013, the organizers in their strength are bringing the legendary American hip hop group, Naughty By Nature to headline the night.

The group will be backed to rock the audience with Reggie Rockstone and Obrafour who returns to thrill with intense back-in-the-days sounds.

The night will also present loads of surprises from the artistes that are lined up to join the already mentioned to the take-home-gifts which will take music enthusiasts back to the days when baggy jeans and bling-bling shirts dominated the atmosphere.

The initiative is in effort to celebrate artistes who have made hits back in the day, accomplished success and contributed to Hiplife over the years.

GRACE ASHY SAYS GFA & THE BLACK STARS ARE UNGRATEFUL

Gospel artiste Grace Ashy known for her cheer songs for the senior national team of Ghana, the Black Stars, in an interview with Flex Newspaper says she is not going to do any cheer song for the team this time round when Ghana has qualified for the World Cup.

“I don’t have any plans in doing a new song for the Black Stars of Ghana. I have done my part; I do all I do with my own money. No one sponsors me. Since 2006 up till date, the songs I recorded for the Black Stars are from my own coffers, and I promote them with my own money.

Neither management of the GFA nor the Black Stars management team have ever called me to even thank me or show me any appreciation. I don’t earn anything from the songs I have done for the Black Stars and I don’t regret for doing them because I did it for God and country.

I therefore encourage each and every one of us to add his or her quota to the development of our dear country” Grace Ashy said categorically.

“I managed to meet the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Mr. Kwasi Nyantakyi sometime but he has never said anything or called me before. I only keep on doing what I do for the sake of the love of this country and our Black Stars.

My brother, whenever Black Stars have a match to play, if I tell you the kind of calls I receive from the media across the world, you won’t believe. I feel so much pressured and frustrated when this calls come to me. You know I’m also a family woman, a proprietor of a school and a business woman. I want to cut down this pressure because I am not getting any younger” Grace Ashly added.

“I say without fear or favour that the GFA, the Black Stars of Ghana and the Ministry of Sports have been ungrateful to this honourable woman. This, to me, is unpardonable. It is high time Ghanaians and institutions begin to show appreciation to people who have on their own will, decided to do something to help build and develop our country. We need to encourage patriotism so as to enhance the course of Ghana”, a management member of Grace Ashy stated with a hidden face.

RAHIM BANDA, MAAME SERWAH NEEDS VARIED ROLES… ENOUGH OF THE USUAL

As written in Proverbs 22:6, ‘Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it’.

But some parents of this generation seem to have totally forgotten that the kind of up-bring, responsibilities and decisions they make for their children, though might be seen as the right path, can as well affect their way of thinking and living their lives without them.

As the wise saying goes, ‘Life is full of surprises accompanied by experiences’; that is exactly what our movie and music industries puts in as much efforts to depict sometimes their personal, people and/or imaginary life experiences to help educate the world.

But as pathetic ignorant attitudes portrayed by most youth of this generation, almost everything (be it good or bad) they see in movies, music videos and songs they hear entice them. Matters worse when the characters in some of these movies and music videos are their favorites who deliver their roles admirably.

Well patronized role models include the likes of Jackie Appiah, Nadia Buari, Yvonne Nelson, Yvonne Okoro, Ebi Bright, Martha Ankomah, Nana Ama McBrown, Akua Ataa ‘Kyeiwaa’, Mercy Aseidu, Vivian Jill, Emilia Brobbey, Jocelyn Dumas, Naa Ashorkor, Maame Serwah, Omotola, Mercy Johnson, James Gardiner, Majid Michel, John Dumelo, Adjetey Annang, Agya Koo, Bill Asamoah, Rahim Banda, Kwadwo Nkansah Lil Wayne, Kwaku Manu, Alatiawe, Idikoko and Chris Attoh, just as few to mention.

Although children in the Ghanaian Movie Industry are very few; well-liked kids, deluxe whiz-kid actor, Rahim Banda (Accra-based) and the famous ‘Kumasiano’ witch-kid, Maame Serwah (Clera Benson) can never be disputed of their great acting cleverness among their co-kid actors.

These two kids have something very much in common but opposite in terms of their screen works; same scene character with different script roles in movies.

Rahim Banda ever since he joined the movie industry in 2011 is always seen acting the goody-comfy and sometimes a ‘modernized wizard’ (magician) in a lead or supporting roles who may just be having quire challenges memorizing his scripts and satisfying movie directors.

Instead of letting him face realities of life’s challenging moments, he is at all times the son of wealthy parents which to me is nothing new to Rahim who is already exposed to such luxurious living because his lovely father, Alhaji Banda alias Bandex is a blessed well-to-do man.

Unlike Maame Serwah, who was a pioneer contestant in the maiden edition of Talented Kids on TVAfrica whose background though I cannot confirm is from a well-to-do or destitute home yet always given roles of a suffering child who ends up being ‘demonic’.

Her challenges may just be the ‘tough’ translation of the English written script to the local dialect, Twi as she is already good at what she does in terms performing.

Even if it’s the movie directors who always give her known-usual scripts to act; can’t she for once reject her one-way role and ask for other roles or these movie directors only recognize her witchy-act talent in the name of nurturing her talent or they feel that’s all she’s got in her?

I beg to ask, are Maame Serwah’s parents not ‘responsible’ enough to discuss with these movie directors to minimize trooping in with such scripts for the wellbeing and good up bring of their daughter? Oh, I read she seem to have chosen acting-tour to school and that confirms their irresponsibility.

Since her parents seem much interested in the money their daughter is bringing home, the entire world pray they don’t regret when she starts apportioning blames later when she is all grown up and things don’t go as she expects.

With the kind of character she is always seen depict in movies, I am sure to say it might as well be affecting her persona in real life and as well causing her a mood-swing disorder prior to her usual roles. Societal perception about her screen life is very worrying.

In my opinion, I think these unwitting kids are being inflicted with the roles given by movie producers ‘in the name of helping them nurture their God giving talents’ and out of parental-ignorance and naivetĂ©’s; they also look out for fame without thinking twice of the negative impact these relentless roles can affect their kids as they grow. The phrase ‘in-future’ no more exist because the future is now.

I humbly present my CHANGE OF ROLE petition to all movie directors, script writers and those hoping to work with these kids must endeavor to approach them with new roles preferably a role that will help Rahim Banda learn the realities of how kids from deprived homes survive with or without the support of their parents.

And Maaame Serwah also be given roles that girls at her age are facing in reality as well as the luxuries Rahim has been enjoying both on and off the screen. She needs to act her age, therefore movie directors must end giving her grown up roles. She is a student in her adolescent stage hence needs to be well guided.

Movies have possible impacts on its performer and viewers; the performer educates, nurtures and steps up his or her game in a negative or positive change when off and on screen. The viewer learns, entertains and practices what they see in movies either in a negative or positive way as well.

I NEVER FADED OUT OF GHANAIAN MUSIC SCENE - SHILO

Call him one of the finest Ga rappers and you will not be far from wrong. A strong musical force who registered his name in the minds of many Ghanaians some few years only to fade into thin air just when he seemed to have hit the peak of stardom but Shilo as he is known believes neither his name nor music ever faded away but although it took a nose dive.

Speaking with NY DJ on the Kapital Entertainment Unplugged Show on Kapital Radio, Shilo disclosed he had to take a long break due to managerial and production problems as well as financial challenges.

Shilo who would not accept his name faded in the Ghanaian music scene said he only had to re-strategize as the music scene had taken a different dive altogether.

Shilo who is currently out with a new single Bossu which features another established Ga musician Screwface believes Ghanaians are yet to experience the best of him as he is now with a reputable management which is already working around the clock to re-launch his career.

DANCEHALL IS NEXT TO RULE IN GHANA - SHATTA RAKO

Shatta Rako believes this is the time for Dancehall music to dominate in Ghana. According the smooth reggae/dancehall artist, people are getting fed up with the ‘Azonto’ regime and they are turning to Dancehall.

“Afro Dancehall is a high tempo thing so it’s an advantage for the genre.” According to him, the sudden rise in Dancehall music is because the people are fed up and are sticking to the next available option.

“I just think Dancehall time is up,” he explained Shatta Rako believes that Afro Dancehall artists should do more to improve to sustain the interest of the masses or risk losing the good fortunes to something else that may come up.

He has assured his fans he will continue to feed them with good music till the year end. “My fans should expect continuous release of singles...to show them ‘mi ah di Original Shatta’”.

He recently added Kojo Legend to his name and he believes the brand addition will catch up with music lovers soon.

Dancehall music has become very popular with the rise of artists like Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Iwan, Kaakie etc. The recent releases of R2Bees, Samini and Wizkid have pushed the genre a notch higher.

The popularity of the genre saw the organization of the BASS Awards, a wholly reggae, ragga and dancehall award scheme.

“I WAS A SERIAL WOMANIZER”- MORRIS

One of Ghana's most talented sound engineers based in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, Moris D'Voice has said that he was a serial womanizer until he met Christ.

He said this during a program organized by Sky TV in Takoradi in the Western Region during their festive Gospel music jam last weekend. As the program was nearing its end, he called back the audience and displayed a little performance indicating where Satan took him to by singing to the audience worldly songs he composed and recorded.

In the confession, he said that there were some sinful deeds that he never committed when he was with Satan because he was trained and nurtured in a Christian home. “Sinful activities like taking in alcohol, was a taboo for me. Wee, cigarette and other demonic activities were something you could never see me doing. The only problem I had was womanizing. I used to womanize than a dog. It got to a time, I had to sleep with more than four ladies in a day and I thought I was the hottest guy in town; not knowing Satan was the one fooling me,” Morris De Voice narrated.

“My brothers and sisters, this continued until I came to possess demons that had sexual intercourse with me anytime I close my eyes to sleep. I stopped going to church. Then one day, God revealed Himself to me and coincidentally met with prophesy of a man of God who told me the same things I saw in my dreams. Even though I still doubted it, God continued to speak to me until I was deeply convinced that God was calling me,” he added.

At the moment, Morris says he is now a Christian and has accepted Jesus as his saviour. “I have left behind all the mess and I have promised myself I will never turn back. Now Jesus is ruling my heart”.

“My brothers and sisters, Jesus is coming soon. Let us give our lives to Christ before the judgment day takes us unawares. We need to remember one thing that, at the end of death, there will be judgment” he preached.

I’M NOT DEAD - DADDY LUMBA

I’m not dead, I am alive by the special grace of God,” this was the response of Ghana’s finest high life musician, Charles Kwadwo Fosu aka Daddy Lumba (DL), who was rumoured dead a few days ago in Kumasi.

In the early hours of Friday, November 1, 2013, the entire Garden City was thrown into a state of shock and disbelief when rumour mongers went to town with unconfirmed report that Lumba had died the previous night.

Soon, what started as a mere rumour gathered momentum as people could be seen in groups discussing the supposed demise of the respected musician. Indeed, what gave credence to the story was the fact that there had been earlier speculation across the country over the last few months that Daddy Lumba was very sick, hence his long absence from the entertainment scene.

However, Lumba lovers and admirers who were shocked by the sad news and were thrown into perpetual mourning heaved a huge sigh of relief later that morning when the award winning musician granted an interview to Roman Father on his ‘Sika Mmere’ program on SIKKA FM 89.5 to say that he was hale and hearty.

‘I don’t know why anybody would wish me dead. I am alive and kicking by the grace of God. Nothing is wrong with me. I want to tell all my fans in Kumasi that their favourite Lumba is still alive and well. It is God who gives life and He alone decides when anyone should leave the world. Thankfully, my time is not due yet so am still alive ’.

On why he thought anybody could come up with such a death rumour about him, Lumba said he had no idea saying ‘This is not the first time that I have been rumoured dead. It has happened several times. Indeed, Lumba has ‘died’ so many times. You see, am a very quiet and private person who is always at home. Maybe it’s my long absence from the public space which facilitates such rumours’.

Daddy Lumba finally thanked Roman Father for offering him the platform to interact with his fans and lovers and also hinted that his latest album will soon hit the market.

Daddy Lumba was born at Nsuta near Mampong in the Ashanti Region on September 29, 1964. In the early 1980s, he debuted on the highlife scene with his massive hit "Yeeye Aka Akwantuo Mu" with Nana Acheampong. He has been consistent with the release of multiple-hit albums since then and has established himself as one of Ghana's most popular singers of his genre, Highlife.

DAVIDO’S BODYGUARD STABBED AT A NIGHTCLUB IN LAGOS

On Sunday, news broke out that Davido‘s bodyguard was involved in a club fight.

Today his management has released a statement on the issue, wanting to “clear the air” on the falsified accounts of the incident which took place at the Grotto Club, Victoria Island, Lagos.

A number of images were sent to us, but we choose not to include them in the article as they are quite disturbing.

Full Statement From Davido’s Management

After a successful outing at a recent concert on Sunday November 3 at Eko Hotels, popular musician Davido headed to the Grotto Nightclub on Victoria Island. After a brief stay at the club, Davido and his crew proceeded to his vehicle outside to head home.

Upon entering the vehicle, he realized that his ATM card was missing. His bodyguard Tijani Olamilekan Ogbeide better known as Teejay got down from the vehicle to search for the ATM card in the club.

Upon alighting, he was accosted by an already drunk “DJ Jay Dee” who had in his hand a champagne flute. This DJ Jaydee informed Teejay that he had the ATM card in his hand and would like to personally deliver it to Davido.

Teejay politely asked him to hand over the ATM card as it was clear that Davido was right in his view in his car. DJ Jaydee refused to hand over the card without payment and instead proceeded to shout that he knew who Davido was personally and that he (DJ Jaydee) was a known person in Lagos.

Teejay refused him access to Davido which led DJ Jaydee to throw the ATM card on the ground in anger. As Teejay bent to retrieve the card, DJ Jaydee stabbed him in the neck with the champagne flute he was holding.

An oblivious Teejay threw him off his back and proceeded to return the ATM card to Davido. As he was entering the car to leave, one of the occupants noticed the stab wounds and called his attention to the blood. Teejay promptly alighted from the car and went to confront DJ Jaydee who was still yelling outside.

DJ Jaydee apparently not done with his violence stabbed the bodyguard a second time, this time on his hands and ran off into the club. Teejay searched for him to no avail and left the club soon after.

Tijani Olamilekan Ogbeide has since reported the matter to the police and they have been to the club to invite DJ Jaydee for questioning. Grotto has been unable to deliver DJ Jaydee to the police, instead malicious and falsified accounts of the incident have found their way on social media portals being championed of course by sources intent on casting vile aspersions on Davido and his bodyguard Teejay.

DJ Jaydee is yet to surface. Tijani Olamilekan Ogbeide has pressed charges to this effect.

Davido’s management categorically refutes all the allegations of violence as insinuated by some. Teejay was carrying out his job by restricting access to Davido from an unknown and obviously inebriated and violent individual.

He performed his duties as bodyguard and instead of resorting to violence, followed the dictates of the law. Members of the public and fans should please note that Davido was not present at this unfortunate incident that occurred that night as erroneously reported in a few quarters.

I AM WORRIED...MY BRAND IS NOT WELL KNOWN OUTSIDE GHANA - OKYEAME KWAME

Ghanaian musician Okyeame Kwame says he is worried his brand is not well known outside Ghana. To this end, he is projecting his brand across Africa through collaborations with established arts with similar brands as his. He has already finished the video on one of such collaborations with J. Martins from Nigeria.

Okyeame Kwame who granted KFM’s Kwame Scientific an interview on the “secrets of hit songs” revealed he is working on other collaborations with Kuli Chana from South Africa, Magic Systems from Ivory Coast among others.

For his take on what made a hit song, Bra Kwame observed that “Making a hit song involves creating a song people can relate to”. He says half of a good song is the production whilst the other half has to do with marketing.

He adds that the “music should match the persona of artiste and the artiste will have to be marketed along with his music”.

He also emphasized the need for customer satisfaction in ensuring an artiste remains a consistent success. He says musicians should handle radio presenters, newscasters, media critics and other industry players with respect in order to get their music out there.

He wants young musicians to get knowledge in music and get good managers in order to be successful.

The faithful man revealed to Kwame Scientific that though he usually expects his songs to become hits, he didn’t have that expectation for woara. All he cared about was doing a good song which posterity could remember him by.
