SEGUN ARINZE SHARES HIS OPINION ABOUT ACTORS GOING INTO POLITICS

Movie stars are leaving the industry in droves.

Some of them have become religious leaders but most other have or are currently in the process of joining politics.

Many fans have expressed varied opinions about it and now Segun Arinze has this to say:

“Someone who decides to run or come into an office knows why he or she decided to run for that office in the first place. I don’t think they are going into politics for the money. I’m not going to be one of the people who would come out and say they are going into politics for the money. But they are going there to positively affect society.

They are role models, people look up to them, they talk to people and they listen to them. Being a role model alone is a burden for them. So, they know that they just have to serve the right purpose. For now, I am not going to get involved in running for elective office, but I’m in politics already. I love politics and I like to work behind the scene for now. I have people I am supporting but I definitely would not want to mention their names. I would certainly encourage other entertainers to go into politics.”

A copy of the Statement below:

“KUMAWOOD IS NOT A MOVIE INDUSTRY; IT’S MY BRAND”

At the hearing of the name 'Kumawood', what hurriedly comes in mind is the Kumasi movie industry.

Movies produced from Kumasi has been classified as Kumawood but CEO of Samdackus Initiatives, Mr. Samuel Kwabena Darko; the brain behind Kumawood and Akoben Movie Awards has revealed that 'Kumawood' is not a movie industry but the name of his awards ceremony.

Samdackus, as he is popularly known in Adom Tv's series 'Abrabo Mu Nsem' in an interview with zionfelix.com, opined that “people refer to Kumasi movie industry and movies from Kumasi as Kumawood, that is wrong.

I personally don’t have a problem with the lame man making that mistake but when professionals who are to know more also follow what the multitudes are saying, then I start to worry,” he said.

According to Samdackus, “You might think it is to promote my brand but it goes the negative way. Some people don’t know it is the name of the awards until Kumawood and Akoben Movie Awards is held."

"Even with that they think it is an awards ceremony organized by the industry but it is not so. Companies start to look at me with their two eyes when I approach them,” he indicated.

The actor and movie producer added that he was ready to let the name go if he is approached for the name to be officially used for Kumasi movies.

He further affirmed, “I’m ready for the name to be used for our industry; it will even be an achievement in my name but the right thing must be done."

"I know Bill Asamoah (Kumasi Actors Guild President) has made this correction several times but it has made no impact so it won’t be bad using the name for the industry since erasing it from people’s mouth won’t work,” he added.

Speaking about this year’s Kumawood and Akoben Movie Awards, Mr. Samuel Kwabena Darko said they are partnering with Multi TV for this year’s award.

Adding that entries for nominations will be opened on Friday, September 26 on their website kumawoodgh.com. He further added that the awards which be launched October 13 is slated for the last Saturday of the year 2014.

Samdackus further pleaded with Ghanaians to support the awards ceremony the awards that seeks to promote local movies.

President John Dramani Mahama honoured Mr. Samuel Kwabena Darko, CEO of Samdackus Initiatives at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Kumasi in 2012 for promoting indigenous films.

ACTOR KOOMUSUO SLAMS BIG AKWES FOR PORTRAYING WOMEN AS 'CHEAP'

Actor, Bernard Aduse-Poku popularly known as Koomusuo, has described comments by his fellow actor, Big Akwes that actors, producers and movie directors sleep with female actresses for roles as unfortunate.

Akwasi Asamoah known in showbiz as Big Akwes on RTV’s 'Agoro Fie' challenged movie producers to deny his assertion that they have been sleeping with actresses, adding that whoever comes out to deny, he will curse him.

“Whoever says producers do not sleep with actors should follow me to Antoa. I will curse all of them, and we shall see who will die. Directors and producers have slept with the ladies. I have had sexual intercourse with some of them, and I continue to do it,” Big Akwes' declaration on RTV.

Responding to the claims on Radio Univers’ Brunch2Lunch with Abrantepa, Bernard stated that Big Akwes went too far., “a gentleman won’t speak in that manner. He has disgraced women by portraying them as cheap."

Adding, "the platform where he made such comments is very wrong. I don’t know whether he was trying to be boastful or what. If it were elsewhere, he would have paid dearly for his utterances.”

He further indicated that, “already, there is a wrong perception about actors and for an actor to make such a distasteful statement is unwarranted.”

Asked how he (Bernard) would have answered the question, he responded, “I would have asked why he is asking such a question knowing that it’s an open secret that, such acts happen in every human institution."

"But the way he (Big Akwes) said it made it seem you can take advantage of ladies just like that,” he said.

"I CRY WITHIN MYSELF OVER WHY I AM NOT ABLE TO APPROACH LADIES"

Perhaps, critics would not have bothered themselves so much expressing their angst over the supposed risqué meaning of Joey B’s Tonga song if they had known that the rapper himself cannot rap a lady no matter how beautiful she appears to him.

Joey B’s 'incapacity' that he would rather prefer to keep personal is the fact that he finds it very difficult chatting up a lady for fear of being bounced.

According to the Tonga hit-maker, any time he meets a lady he admires, he goes “chicken” and prays that the lady should rather approach and make the first move on him.

“I have met a number of beautiful ladies I wish I dated them but I allowed them go because I did’t want to be the first to approach them. Sometimes when I’m alone, I cry within myself over why I am not able to approach ladies”, Joey B told Showbiz on Tuesday.

Explaining why he will never approach a lady, Joey B said he cannot imagine a lady 'flexing' him; "For this reason, I prefer to admire the ladies, but not to approach them. Some ladies have said all sorts of things about me, but this is how I have been since a teenager,” he said.

Talking about his lady, Joey B, real name, Darryl Bannerman-Martin, said he prefers an average size lady with natural looks. “I don’t like women who put on excessive make-up or artificial hair. I like simple and natural ladies.”

Even though, Joey B claims he is romantic and caring, he failed to comment when he was asked whether his ex-girl friends were the first to make the approach on him.

Apart from Tonga, Joey B, who won New Artiste of the Year at the VGMA this year is known for other songs such as Strawberry Ginger, Cigarette and Benedicta.

Born to Mr. Samuel Bannerman-Martin and Madam Bridget Amoateng, Joey B came to limelight when Black Avenue Muzik boss and rapper, D-Black, featured him on his hit song Oh Vera.

He had his primary education from St. Theresa’s school and later went to Accra High Senior High School. He graduated at Zenith College two years ago.

“IT IS NORMAL FOR A PRODUCER TO SLEEP WITH ACTRESS; IT HAPPENED TO ME”

Movie producers and directors are taking advantage of ladies before assigning them movie roles has been a topical issue for some days now.

This comes after Kumawood actor, Big Akwes threatened to curse whoever denies that he has not slept with any actor, the producers-bonking-actors revelation has become the most talked about issue in the entertainment circles.

One actress who has also confirmed the hot romance wanna-be actors have with movie producers before getting a role is sexy and beautiful actress, Nikki Samonas.

The 'Bikini queen' in an interview on Radio Univers confirmed to Big Akwes' declaration that indeed producers lure ladies to sleep with them in exchange for movie roles.

“It is a national anthem. That is what happens when you are a lady in this entertainment industry.I heard it happens. It is normal because they are also human beings," Nikki said.

The Icon Remix host further revealed that she had been a victim of such situation stating, “Personally I’ve been through it before but I won’t mention names. If you are a beautiful and fair lady then, it is normal this will happen to you. I won’t blame them (producers) because it is a normal thing that happens in life.”

“At some point in life you meet certain challenges. I met one but won’t mention anybody’s name. So it is like that. That is the job,” she added.

Nikki Samonas further noted that whilst others are happy with the act of sleeping with ladies, others frown on it, “Everybody has their ways of getting money. If others think it is good for them, it works for them. Others don’t think it is good for them, so they don’t do it.”
