MOVIE PRODUCER FIRES LIL WIN, AKROBETO AND MORE OVER UTV SAGA

Movie producer, Nakwadus, CEO of Nakwadus Production has described Kumawood actors, Kwaku Manu, Kwadwo Nkansah Liwin and Kwasi Boadi also known as Akrobeto as people who are afraid of competition. The ace movie producer stated that the three have plotted means of sabotaging upcoming actors who are better than them, hence their accusations against him.

The three actors through the Ashanti regional president of the Ghana Actors Guild, Bill Asamoah have threatened a legal action against UTV over their upcoming TV series “Abrabo” produced by Nakwadus Production

According to the disappointed actors, Nakwadus production paid them to shoot a movie but later realized that the scenes were for the “Abrabo” series which will start showing on UTV this Saturday. They also charged the movie producer for compiling different scenes from their previous movies for the series.

Reacting to the accusations by the actors on Radio Univers, Nakwadus called their allegation a bluff stating that he has paid them for their services “so whatever I use the scenes for, its none of their business”.

There are over hundred people in the series so why are they the only people angry? Are they more human than the others in the series?

They are actors and I paid them to work for me. They looked at the story and they charged me according to that.

The angry movie producer told Abrantepa, host of “Brunch to Lunch” that the agreement between them did not state categorically that the scenes were for a movie or a series.

We agreed for them to act and they did that and I also fulfilled my portion of the agreement by paying them.

It is not a song they composed for me, it is a movie and I can use it for anything I want.
The movie producer again refuted claims that he pieced together different scenes from several movies for the series.

Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG), Mr. Asare Hackman also revealed on the show that the association together with copyright office will meet on Thursday, September 4 to solve the issue.

OUR POLITICAL LEADERS ARE ALL CORRUPT – NICHOLAS OMANE

The ever-audacious gospel musician, Nicholas Omane Acheampong, seem not to be too happy at the current state of Ghana and has added that God has withdrawn his hand on the nation because of our leaders who are corrupt and have compromised the truth.

“Sometimes when I hear some critics say people in showbiz should not talk about politics or engage in political discourse I don’t get it. Its beats my mind! Are we not human beings living in the same country? Whatever that is going on the country affects us too.”

“Some also say Christians should not engage in politics! Don’t our pastors vote? They do! So it means we all do politics. This country is made up of about 60% Christians – so if we in the Christian fraternity assert that it is not proper for us to share our opinions on political issues, then which people vote then?” Nicholas Omane Acheampong told Razz Newspaper.

What he begs to differ is partisan politics – which he is against. “I am against showbiz people or musicians openly professing their support for party A or B. I think as artistes, we should be seen as neutral and stand for the nation, so when we make our political colours or affiliations known, we turn to divide our fans. The fans lose confidence in us.”

“However, we should talk about the issues affecting the country and not focus on political parties because they come and go. Why should a nation like Ghana which God has specially planted in the center of planet earth and endowed with gold, diamond, manganese, timber, cocoa and finally oil, go begging to survive? Even toothpick we import! It’s a curse for a nation blessed with gold to beg,” he stated.

He further stated that, “Then nation is in a current messy state because of our leaders who have compromised the truth. They are corrupt! From the top to the bottom! They are all corrupt! They all don’t tell the truth – I’m referring to all of them, not this current President alone.”

According to Nicholas: “God told me to tell the nation that he, God, is the truth so once our leaders have embraced lies and betrayed the truth, he has withdrawn his hands from the nation, hence the current state of the nation. So currently, Ghana is on its own - no support from God. But, he says if our leaders will practice truthful character, he will come to our aid.”

The ‘Zaphenath Panea’ hit maker also revealed that, since Ghana is situated in the middle of the earth, if any fight erupts due to some economic hardship, it has a strong potency of spreading to many countries.

He also admitted that his latest song Akua 1957 has a strong political undertone but he care less whatever meaning people read into it.
“Even the Ama Ghana that we call Ghana is wrong because the 6th of March is a Wednesday and not a Saturday. Many people don’t know! The video is coming soon! I don’t care whether some see it as a political song or not! At the end of the day, the message must go out for all to hear and see,” he concluded.

GHANAIANS HAVE MADE PIRACY SO ATTRACTIVE - SOCRATES SARFO

Controversial movie producer, Socrates Sarfo, has for the umpteenth time complained about ‘piracy’ in Ghana’s movie industry.

Socrates told NEWS-ONE that even though piracy is considered a more serious crime than armed robbery in other countries, Ghanaians make the act look very beautiful and more attractive than armed robbery.

“Piracy is an old canker. In the first place, the TV stations showing our movies for free and piracy are the two main issues that are affecting the industry. As for piracy it is so beautiful now because we have made it so attractive. Pirates are not scared of engaging in the act again. It is more beautiful to be a pirate than to be an armed robber, even though piracy is more serious than armed robbery. We have made piracy so attractive, “the ‘Hot Fork’ producer stated.

According to him, the legal system in Ghana makes it very stressful to pursue piracy issues, which in a way encourages the act.

After the movie producers are done with the production phase and get the movie on CDs, these pirates make their own copies of the same movie and market them separately.

“Now when you catch a pirate and send him to the police station, the police will keep asking you to go and come till you get tired; then the pirate is granted bail and goes away. Since the pirates know this, they are somewhat encouraged to do the act. Even if by some miracle you get to court over the issue, there is also another delay: they will keep adjourning the case, and since we producers cannot keep up with the delay, they get tired and stop going to the court. Those who manage to pursue the case end up getting some few prison years for the pirate,” he added.

Socrates noted that Ghana needs to start seeing piracy as a serious crime, which is also a major ingredient responsible for killing the movie industry.

“To me, it is about time we treated piracy as a high crime and did something to the culprits; that will deter others from venturing into the act. Let’s treat pirates in such a way that their colleagues will advise themselves to quit the act because they are killing the industry, people’s investments are going down the drain and they are having a field day because we have given them so much room to operate,” he said.

ARREST WANLOV FOR HAVING GAY SEX – LAWYER

A private legal practitioner, Dr Maurice Ampaw, has called for the immediate arrest of controversial afro-pop Star, Wanlov da Kubolor, for having gay sex.

According to the lawyer, the singer’s admission that he had sex with a fellow man some years back is a criminal offence, which must be investigated and punished.

Kubolor, in a recent television interview, confessed to having sex with a boy some years ago. “I wanted to fulfill my sexual desires one time, and a guy was the only one around and that led to having sex with the boy”, he confessed.

The 33-year-old Romanian-Ghanaian also said he has so far bedded more than 300 women. Dr Ampaw told OKAY FM Thursday that Wanlov's confession must not be forgiven.

“Kubolor must be arrested immediately. First he admits to having gay sex with a boy, which is criminal, because our laws do not entertain gay practices, and then he is publicly talking about it. That is appalling because that amounts to an abuse, which must never be overlooked. He should be arrested, the police must arrest him.

“It’s also criminal for him to even say publicly that he has slept with over 300 women. That guy must be arrested over all these loose talks. It’s against our laws for a man to disclose publicly the women he slept with. Even though he is not mentioning names, it is still wrong. He is clearly embarrassing those women which is against the laws of the land”, he fumed.
