BANDEX ADVISES SON

Father of Rahim Banda who is popularly known as Bandex has told Capital TV`s Entertainment Capital hosted by Sammy Flex that he showed sex tapes of unfortunate people to his teenage star, Rahim Banda.

During a discussion on Capital TV to verify how Bandex is managing his own son Rahim Banda, who has been touted to be Ghana`s number one child actor after winning numerous awards.

He spelt out some disciplinary measures including not allowing him to film during school days, giving him the chance and the opportunity to do the things he wants to do including allowing him a chance on the field as a footballer.

Bandex stated emphatically that, at the moment, he is not sure if movies will be his son`s first choice when he grows up in the future but he was quick to add that he will be giving that authority to him when he turns 18.

He added that now that he is still under age, the best he can do is to manage Rahim himself as a father and when he becomes an adult; he will find a manager for him as well.

When asked how he advises him with regards to proper upbringing and even about women, his statement came through as a shocking revelation as most of the issues he raised were very alarming.

"Because I know he is still a child, I try to correct him when he goes wrong and I point out some dangers in life to him. For instance, any time there is a sex tape out which becomes the talk about town, I make sure I show it to him to have a fair knowledge of it.

In the process, I make him aware that this can happen to him if he should make the mistake of indulging in some acts like this. He has seen almost all the sex tapes I had also seen before” he noted.

The question one will be asking at this time is why would Bandex do this knowing that Rahim is still a child, and he might not be able to differentiate between the good and the bad.

This was his response “the secret is that my brother if you don't show it to him in-doors, someone else will show it to him out-doors, and that might end up causing more harm than you will expect.

There are several occasions that he goes out with his friends alone without the company of any of his elder sisters or myself. So the best I can do, is to let him know the harm that can come out of his actions” Bandex told Sammy Flex during Entertainment Capital on Capital TV.

Meanwhile, Bandex is ready to release a new movie he calls Aisha, which featured Rahim Banda, Kwaku Manu and that Chinese looking lady under his Bandex Movies Production stables. Watch out for that movie soon!

"I DON'T NEED A HIT SONG"

Ghanaian songwriter Chemphe, born Henry Agyekum introduced his style of music some years ago which he named 'Urban Life'; a fusion of soulful R&B vocals and grooves from Ghana some years ago and years on, he has been stuck to his style.

In an exclusive interview with Flex newspaper last Saturday about his musical career, Chemphe said he doesn't worry too much when people think a song of his is not a hit. “Not every song becomes a hit. I can boast of 'Number 1', which equally had impact and even better because I had several nominations in the country.

There are songs that have made me popular around the world that doesn't necessarily mean it made me popular in Ghana. It's music, and it's not just about portion of people, is your target audience,” he said.

He indicated that musically he is doing great because he is accepted all over the world and that he is not too eager to come out with a hit song that will be washed away within three months.

“I want to do a song that will last in people's heart and what they can relate to, that's why I did 'why you dey treat am bad' because in that song it talks about how women are being abused.

1You can't determine a good song or a hit song according to what you hear on the radio because when you enter into the club or people's cars, there are songs that are played which are not on the radio. Most people will love to listen to great music and most people think Ghanaian music is noisy but thank God, when my songs come out, they are being sold,” he added.

Chemphe also intimated that he is recognized internationally because he blends African languages and English. According to him, in the outside world they love messages and melodies but in the African system people love rhythms and say less in the music.

“So all the music we do are disposable music. They last for two or three months. In the outside world, they love melodies so after years they still have shows on songs they have sung five years ago.

I am the only Ghanaian on the world chart show; no Ghanaian has been on the world chart show. I am the world ambassador of the YMCA the biggest and largest community in the world,” he concluded.

SAMINI IS PROUD OF ME

Dancehall and Reggae artiste, Livingstone Satekla, popularly known as Stonebwoy says his mentor, Samini is proud of the successes he has chalked up so far with his career.

According to him, many people wrongly presume that he is in some kind of war with Samini after leaving his camp some years ago.

He said in an interview on Showbiz Today on Hitz FM's with Mic Gizo Saturday that the ‘King of African dancehall’, Samini appreciates how he has improved after he exited his camp, the 'High Grade Family'.

“Samini is happy for me, because I have grown well and doing my own thing”, he stated.

His first hit single was ‘Climax’ featuring Samini, released off of his Grade1 album released in June 2012. ‘Climax’ went on to gain him a nomination for the Best Reggae Song of the Year in the 2012 Ghana Music Awards.

Asked if he regrets leaving Samini’s camp, Stonebwoy responded, “I don’t regret leaving High Grade Family for I have gathered the experience that I needed."

I HAVE A CRUSH ON PREZ MAHAMA

Loquacious TV presenter and actress, Afia Schwarzenegger, known for speaking her mind without as little as a look over her shoulder, says she has a crush on President John Mahama.

According to her, she does not care what people will say about her because she finds President Mahama handsome and a gentleman.

“I go crazy anytime I see him speak on television. When he smiles, ha! I feel like giving him a big hug.

“His wife, Mrs Lordina Mahama is aware I have a crush on her husband because the few times we have met, I have told her about it and she even calls me her rival” Afia Schwarzenegger told Showbiz in an interview last Tuesday.

Afia said she did not have any political party affiliation, neither NPP nor NDC, but she has always had a thing for presidents and it is President Mahama’s turn now.

Commenting on a statement she made in 2002 that she had a crush on NPP presidential candidate, Nana Akufo Addo, Afia said her crush shifted to President Mahama when Nana Addo lost the election.

Asked whether her husband would not be upset about her crushes on other men, Afia whose television programme has been nominated for the Most Popular TV Show at the forthcoming Television Awards said her husband is very much aware of her feelings.

According to her, “Anytime I tell him I have a crush on President Mahama, he laughs over it because he knows I am not the type who would cheat on him. He is not bothered if I have a crush on someone because he knows who I am”.

Talking about her Kokooko programme, Afia said there was no entertainment show on television in Ghana today that beats her programme. She explained that since she started hosting the show four months ago, her viewers have kept growing in number which testifies that she is doing a great job.

The 33-year-old actress who has featured in Kumawood movies became popular when she played the lead character in the popular Afia Schwarzenegger TV drama series.

She is married to a pastor and she is a mother of two sons, James and John. Afia graduated from Word of Faith Bible Institute in Accra last two years and she says she is a good Christian despite what people think about her.

“I know many people think I am the craziest female celebrity in Ghana but they are yet to see the other side of me. I am crazy alright but I take God seriously. He is the only Man who takes care of me and my family members,” she said amidst laugher.

Aside presenting Kokooko on UTV, Afia Schwarzenegger is the drive time show host on Happy FM.

Although combining TV and radio can be difficult for Afia sometimes, she says it motivates her to work harder.

CARLOS SAKYI INVITED BY THE POLICE...

The ousted Chairman of the Ghana Music Rights Organisation(GHAMRO), Carlos Sakyi, has been invited by the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service over what is suspected to be financial fraud, NEWS-ONE has gathered.

Mr Sakyi was invited with two other signatories to GHAMRO’s accounts, Amandzeba Nat Brew and K.K. Kabobo.

They are expected to help the police investigate a report, filed by the current interim management committee of GHAMRO, in which it alleged that some huge cash withdrawals made from the accounts of the organisation by the Carlos Sakyi-led Board cannot be accounted for.

Mr Sakyi and the two signatories to GHAMRO’s accounts are likely to be processed for court if the investigations implicate them to have acted in a manner deemed financially inappropriate.

Several letters written to Mr Sakyi by the new committee, inviting him for a meeting over the said withdrawals, have not yielded much as he never turned up for any of the said meetings, NEWS-ONE gathered.

Missing GHAMRO Car

Renowned music producer and Chief Executive of Slip Music, Mark Okraku Mantey, has publicly disclosed that though he was a member of the Carlos Sakyi-led GHAMRO Board, he never knew that the three signatories had signed in the name of the Board to buy a Toyota Land Cruiser Sequoia.

According to Mr Mantey, he only got to know that GHAMRO bought the Land Cruiser after the Carlos Sakyi-led Board was dissolved by the court and a new one was asked to take over.

The said vehicle, for which an amount of GH¢55,000 was withdrawn from GHAMRO’s accounts, is currently missing, and the new interim managers have said they have no idea where it is.

They also claim all attempts to get the ousted Board to give details of the vehicle have proved futile.

Strange Withdrawals

Though the Human Rights High Court on July 11, 2014 ordered Carlos Sakyi and the old Board to stay away from management of GHAMRO, checks have revealed that four days after the court’s ruling an amount in excess of GH¢33,800 was withdrawn from GHAMRO’s accounts without the knowledge of the new managers the court asked to take over.

The amount has not been accounted for, though it has been proven they were withdrawn in three installments on the same day. One of the three signatories to the cheques is believed to be the father of a top management member of the said bank.
