HOW CAN I BEAT MY ARTISTE- BULL DOG

rtiste Manager Bull Dog, Chief Executive of BullHaus Entertainment has described as a “naughty joke” a recent statement from him that he would physically beat up any of his artistes who would look down on him.

“It is not a smooth journey and I’ve always been open with the artistes. I face my problems but I don’t have any artiste looking down on me.

When you do that [I will beat you] and I will walk away after punching you,” Bull had stated on Joy FM’s Rhythmz A-Z last Saturday.

The statement immediately gained public attention perhaps because of the calibre of musicians under his management including VIP, IWAN, Shatta Wale, Koo Ntakra, Natural Face and new entrant Brianna.

But when NEWS-ONE asked Bull to explain what exactly he meant by punching his artiste, he said the statement was a “naughty joke meant to create fun.”

“I can’t beat any of my artistes. I am not a violent person and persons who know me would have realized I was even joking. I understand the laws of Ghana and it would never get to that. This was just one of my naughty jokes meant to create fun,” Bull told NEWS-ONE.

ACTOR URGES GOVERNMENT TO TAX GHANAIAN ACTORS AND ACTRESSES

Ghanaian actor Nana Osei Kwame Brempong known in showbiz as Sharpiro has started a crusade urging the government to tax actors and actresses in Ghana.

Nana Osei Kwame has revealed that actors and actresses in Ghana including himself have not been paying tax to the government of Ghana and this does not help to develop the country.

According to him, there should be a need for the government or the industry to tax actors in the country to sustain the country and film industry.

He said, ‘’ it is very worried  looking at the colossal amount of money some of the actors and actresses earn after shooting three or  four movies without paying any tax to the government or the entertainment industry’’

‘’The producers even don’t issue any VAT receipt when they are paying them which is wrong, it can never happen in Nigeria’’

‘’I learnt that the producers and other sectors in the industry pay taxes for the sustainability of the industry, and why is that actors don’t pay? ’’

Nana Osei Kwame said, if his colleague actors and actresses want the sustainability of the film industry, they should start paying taxes to the government or contribute financially to the industry to secure the industry’s future.

‘’I think if we are able to implement this suggestion, it will help us all because the money that we pay as taxes will help develop the country ‘’

Speaking about the current state of the Ghanaian film industry on Ashh fm Entertainment Zone, Sharpiro suggested that the Ghana Actors Guild must create a fund that will take care of ageing actors and actresses who fought for the industry and are now in a dilapidated condition.

He also agreed with Majid Michael that the Ghanaian movie industry cannot be compared to Nigerian Film Industry.

‘’ the Ghana Actors Guild is not effective as the Nigerian Actors Guild so I agree with Majid totally for what he said about our movie industry. He shouldn’t be blamed for that. We must work to improve on the current state of our industry than to hold peoples neck for their comments ’’

GHANA MUSIC INDUSTRY IS 'BOMBOCLAT' - SHATTA WALE FUMES

Dressed in sagging white apparel, a self-acclaimed dancehall king Shatta Wale blurted out that Ghana's music industry is "bomboclat" - a Jamaican term for foolish.

And he got the crowd gathered at Korlegonor beach to gleefully recite the rant with him.

The rapper, said in pidgin language, he felt sorry for Ghanaians because of the "lies" perpetuated in the music industry.

With a line-up of loyalist of his movement behind him on stage and a teeming audience before him, Shatta Wale might be feeling the world -certainly Ghana - is under his stage.

“If a dey perform then a dey cry because Ghana people lie you people too much. Say Ghana music industry Bomboclat", the leader of the Shattawale movement said last Friday.

It was not immediately known his reason for the rant.

What is known, however, is that the 'Like my thing' artiste maintains a fierce rivalry with a more established opponent Samini.

The two have been having running performance battles over who is the real dancehall king in Ghana.

Shatta Wale, last November, threatened to sue the Graphic Showbiz over a report that Samini outshone him on stage during the “Guinness Big Eruption Concert” in Accra.

I DON’T NEED DRUGS OR ALCOHOL TO PERFORM - ADOLF TAGOE

Ace musician Adolf Tagoe has described as surprising and disheartening, reports that some artistes require stimulants such as alcohol and drugs before they can find their rhythm or perform on stage, saying such persons were missing the true essence of music.

Mr Tagoe, popularly known as the ‘Kakalika man’ for his latest hit, says music is “the best thing that has happened” to him in his decades on earth, and strongly believes such persons may be hiding behind music to perpetuate a negative vice.

“I don’t believe in drugs. Those who want to do drugs will hide behind anything and give so many excuses. If somebody says he needs drugs to perform I don’t believe it. For me, stage is my home. I don’t drink, I don’t smoke, I don’t do anything. I think they are just using music as an excuse.”

Reports have been rife about drug and alcohol use among musicians, especially upcoming ones, although their managers and publicists have consistently denied such reports. Nevertheless such rumours have refused to go away.

According to Adolf Tagoe, although there are other things that bring him happiness, “just seeing the joy that music, both mine and others, brings to people’s faces and hearts is a constant blessing to me, and I don’t need drugs to do that.”

The Ghanaian born American citizen, who is a Civil Engineer by profession, says he “designs and builds for fun but my first love is music, and I have enjoyed doing it all these years. I can never stop.”

Known for a number of hits including his latest singles ‘Kakalika’ and ‘Hotshot’, which continue to receive serious air play, Adolf Tagoe told Adomonline.com he was putting finishing touches to the 12 tracks on his songs fifth album. His first album was released in 2001, followed by others in 2004, 2006 and 2009 respectively.

He advised his colleague musicians caught in the web of alcohol and drug use to do whatever it takes to quit, “because sooner or later it will hit you like a time bomb.”

I HAVE NO INTENTION TO LEAVE BIG J NOW OR EVER- SELLY TELLS HER CRITICS

Ghana’s female representative at last year’s Big Brother Africa, Selly, has asked people who would want to see her relationship with Praye Tiatia crash to watch out for a knot-tying date soon.

According to Selly who came under heavy criticisms last year for her “misconduct” in the Big Brother house, she relishes successful marriage relationship with the “love of her life”.

“I don’t know why when it comes to what the future holds for Big J and I, people think that there is no future. Maybe, they don’t have an idea how much we are in love and what we have been through together. We are serious This relationship is no child’s play. Please wish us well”, she told Showbiz last Tuesday.

She said the brouhaha about their possible break up heightened on her return from Big Brother Africa but her boyfriend stood by her and she was not ready to let such “ man of that caliber” slip away.

“I don’t think that I am bigger than the Praye brand and I know that I have not achieved anything close to what they have done with their career so I wonder why anybody would think that Selly will leave Praye Tiatia because I have also become a moidest celebrity.

“Yes, I admit that Big Brother gave me the exposure that no other platform has given me but that doesn't make me feel special than Praye Tiatia. He has been my inspiration and source of strength when the going got tough. Big J is more like my personal manager and I have no intention to leave him now or ever.

“Others even think that I rode on his popularity to get this far and is likely I will leave him because I am also in the limelight now but the truth is that, I also had my talent and used it to my advantage to get this far. What sets us moving is love and not who wants to be popular or whose brand is better” she said.

Selly told Showbiz that her hope of having a future with Praye Tiatia was fired up last Friday when they celebrated five years of being together as a couple remarking “ I didn't even know we could get this far. We have seen it all and know where we are heading to”.

Selly who refused to comment on Praye Tiatia’s past marriage, said that she was ready to settle down and had no other person in mind than Praye.

Currently the host of Premieres Multi TV’ Cine Afrik, Selly believes that she has achieved her childhood dream of being a TV presenter and said she is ready to take the movie industry by storm after being featured in African Child and Juliet’s Ibrahim’s No 1 Fan.

She said the year has started on a good note and was hopeful to get some endorsement deals as well.

“I will also do a lot of charity work. My African Child Vision 2020 Foundation did its first project last two weeks raising funds to provide basic education for some needy children. That is my way of giving back to society and I hope to do more this year” she stated.

SHATTA MOVEMENT FAMILY DISOWN SHATTA WALE

A young and aggressive group known as the Shatta Movement Family (SMF), who claim to have nurtured popular dancehall artiste Shatta Wale to fame, have come out to say that they have disowned the artiste and asked him to stop using the name of the Movement in his endeavours.

Members of Shatta Movement, who visited Showbiz offices last week, said they have brought on board a new dancehall artiste, Vibrant Faya, who they believe can push the movement’s brand forward. According to them, their new artiste would overtake Shatta Wale in no time.

“We made Shatta Wale who he is and now we are saying it is Vibrant Faya. Shatta Wale betrayed the family by registering the family’s name as his but the Movement is not for any individual and that is the reason we now have Vibrant Faya as a replacement for Shatta Wale,” Cyfa the spokesperson and leader for the Movement said.

“We know Shatta Wale’s potential and that of Vibrant Faya and we can say for sure that Vibrant Faya is by far a better musician than Shatta Wale. We have had the opportunity to listen to songs from both artistes and we are confident that Vibrant Faya is the better singer” he said.

Emmanuel Kojo Quayson aka Vibrant Faya told Showbiz he was glad to have been discovered by the Shatta Movement Family and as an artiste who was to take over from Shatta Wale.

“I have learnt so many things since I joined the family. As an artiste with energy and good lyrics. Already I have four hot singles, Mambi, Bad Like We, Pretty Body and The First Day which are all ‘killer tracks’,” he said.

He said that when it comes to a one on one, Shatta Wale is no match for him and that Shatta Wale himself knows that as well.

When Showbiz contacted Shatta Wale for his view, he referred this reporter to his manager. His manager, Bull Dog, subsequently made it clear that Shatta Wale is not in competition with anyone because he has already made a name.

Bull Dog stated that he was waiting to see what Vibrant Faya has to offer Ghanaians. “Shatta Wale is the best dancehall artiste we have in Ghana at the moment and if there is an artiste who thinks he can challenge Shatta Wale, we only wish him luck”

Commenting on allegations that Shatta Wale stole his brand name from SMF, Bull dog explained that Shatta Wale registered his brand name as Shatta Movement and not Shatta Movement Family.

“It is true that the group helped Shatta Wale but in this world, everyone needs help to be able to survive. Shatta has established himself and is now doing fantastic” he said.

EX-GIRLFRIENDS OF SLIM BUSTERR THREATEN TO DISRUPT HIS WEDDING

Ghana’s exciting musician and dancer, Ebenezer Asare aka Slim Busterr, is contemplating on having a secret marriage ceremony at a secret location in the capital to avoid those who have threatened to disrupt it.

The dancer-cum-musician, who disclosed a few weeks ago that preparations were far advanced for him to get married, explained that his decision to have a secret ceremony was based on threats he recently received from certain ladies he had dated some years back who felt cheated.

Slim Busterr however stressed that though he was not disturbed by the threats, measures would be put in place to deal with the situation, adding, “I do not think the plans of the ladies will work. They are only trying to be smart.”

Two weeks ago 'Beatwaves' carried a story that Slim Busterr was ready to get married to his sweetheart at a red carpet event and that sooner or later his numerous fans would hear the wedding bells.

Speaking to 'Beatwaves' Slim disclosed that as soon as the news was made public some of friends and fans called to congratulate him for taking such a bold decision to get married.

However, “others, including certain ladies, also warned me that I should not make the attempt which I will regret very soon,” he added.
