Kumawood actor, Akwesi Asamoah popularly known as Big Akwes, has been
banned by the Film Producers Association of Ghana from shooting movies
in Ghana for the next twenty-four months, Zionfelix.com can confirm.
A statement captioned 'SUSPENSION OF ENGAGEMENT OF SERVICE' and signed by FIPAG General Secretary, James Aboagye, states that “FIPAG has therefore sanctioned him for a period of twenty-four months effective September 23, 2014. Any FIPAG member, Marketer or Distributor, who engages his service as an actor or either wise does so at his or her risk.”
The statement cautioned “Any film he is engaged in during this period will not be scheduled for release”. The a copy of the statement was sent to associations in the movie industry to ensure its members do not hire the services of the actor, Akwesi Asamoah.
The Film Producers Association of Ghana put the 2 year ban on the actor for his allegation made on RTV’s “Agoro Fie” hosted by Papa Kumasi that producers, directors and actors sleep with actresses before assigning them roles.
Before this ban by FIPAG, ‘Actresses Association of Ghana’ led by actress Mercy Asiedu had sent him a letter to retract his statement within three days or a court action will be taken against him.
