When Oscar Yao Doe, Group Chairman and President of Eurostar Group of Companies bought a 1960 Oscar Tella Guitar belonging to Agya Koo Nimo
during the auction at the Musiga Grand Ball event on 5th September 2014
at the State Banquet Hall, he had no idea that 3 weeks after, the
legendary musician was going to pay him a visit in his office to say
‘Thank you’ personally in grand style.
Agya Koo Nimo came all the way from Kumasi in the company of his student master guitarist popularly called Sporatz and a team from Musiga headed by the President, Bice Osei Kuffour.
After saying Thank you to Oscar Doe for purchasing his guitar for GHC15, 000.00 at the Grand Ball auction in aid of the Ageing Musicians Welfare Fund, Agya Koo Nimo and his disciple serenaded the guests with sweet authentic live music from their acoustic guitars.
Tune after tune with accompanying history and all present couldn’t help but join with claps and dances as they partied deep into the night.
“This is too much …. We do not deserve this, Just a small gesture at the Grand Ball event and I get the Legendary Koo Nimo to be my guest. My God this is too much” Oscar Doe said in his usual humble voice.
The Grand Ball Event raised a total of GHC100, 000.00 for the Musiga Academy and Ageing Musicians Welfare Fund (AMWEF).
Cheques of Ghc 40,000 and Ghc 60,000 were presented the Academy and the Amwef Fund respectively at a ceremony at Alisa hotel on 23th September 2014 where the www.amwefghana.com website was outdoored.
