I am confident of winning Best DJ in Africa - DJ Black

Barely a month after winning Best Ghana DJ of the Year at the maiden Ghana DJ Awards, DJ Black has set his eyes on the African DJ of the Year award.

The host of the Open House Party on Joy FM has been nominated forBest African DJ at the maiden African Global DJ Awards (AGDA Awards) scheduled for South Africa.

Born Kwadwo Ampfo, DJ Black told Myjoyonline.com in an interview that “Let’s give glory to God for the Best DJ in Ghana award. Winning the best African DJ, wow that would be an icing on the cake.”

According to him, “Winning the top award is a big thing. To be nominated in that category itself is awesome, it means your skills qualify as the Best African DJ.”

Asked what his chances of winning the award are, DJ Blacked, who happens to be the first African DJ to have a personal app, said, he is “confident,” of picking up Africa’s ultimate DJ award. (Click on link to download the app.)

Mr Black, as he is affectionately called, also got nominations in theBest Western African DJ and Best Radio DJ.

The road to winning that award will not be easy as DJ Black has to shake off stiff competition from some of Africa’s finest DJs including DJ Aly and
Fila (EGYPT), DJ Fresh (South Africa), DJ Xclusive (Nigeria), DJ Crème de la crème (Kenya) and DJ Oskido (South Africa).

The African Global DJ Awards is aimed at recognizing and celebrating the talent of the Africa’s greatest DJs. This event, according to organizers, Stronghold Entertainment and Statsmedia Group, will hold annually and is the first and only African DJ awards ceremony to be held in the continent.

Top African DJs, entertainment executives, radio stations and club owners came up with the categories as well compiled the final nomination list.

Voting for the awards starts March 15, 2013 and winners will be announced at the main event on May 4, 2013 at the Sandton Convention Center, Johannesburg, South Africa.
