Loquacious TV presenter and actress,
Afia Schwarzenegger, known for speaking her mind without as little as a
look over her shoulder, says she has a crush on President John Mahama.
According to her, she does not care what people will say about her because she finds President Mahama handsome and a gentleman.
“I go crazy anytime I see him speak on television. When he smiles, ha! I feel like giving him a big hug.
“His wife, Mrs Lordina Mahama is aware I have a crush on her husband because the few times we have met, I have told her about it and she even calls me her rival” Afia Schwarzenegger told Showbiz in an interview last Tuesday.
Afia said she did not have any political party affiliation, neither NPP nor NDC, but she has always had a thing for presidents and it is President Mahama’s turn now.
Commenting on a statement she made in 2002 that she had a crush on NPP presidential candidate, Nana Akufo Addo, Afia said her crush shifted to President Mahama when Nana Addo lost the election.
Asked whether her husband would not be upset about her crushes on other men, Afia whose television programme has been nominated for the Most Popular TV Show at the forthcoming Television Awards said her husband is very much aware of her feelings.
According to her, “Anytime I tell him I have a crush on President Mahama, he laughs over it because he knows I am not the type who would cheat on him. He is not bothered if I have a crush on someone because he knows who I am”.
Talking about her Kokooko programme, Afia said there was no entertainment show on television in Ghana today that beats her programme. She explained that since she started hosting the show four months ago, her viewers have kept growing in number which testifies that she is doing a great job.
The 33-year-old actress who has featured in Kumawood movies became popular when she played the lead character in the popular Afia Schwarzenegger TV drama series.
She is married to a pastor and she is a mother of two sons, James and John. Afia graduated from Word of Faith Bible Institute in Accra last two years and she says she is a good Christian despite what people think about her.
“I know many people think I am the craziest female celebrity in Ghana but they are yet to see the other side of me. I am crazy alright but I take God seriously. He is the only Man who takes care of me and my family members,” she said amidst laugher.
Aside presenting Kokooko on UTV, Afia Schwarzenegger is the drive time show host on Happy FM.
Although combining TV and radio can be difficult for Afia sometimes, she says it motivates her to work harder.
