"I DIDN’T HAVE MONEY TO ORGANIZE MY SHOW"

It is quite surprising to have a maiden event score such high marks, win accolades and plaudits from critics and still lack the necessary sponsorship to have a follow-up while, the many mediocre shows get support every year.

That is what happened to one of the best shows ever to have been staged in Ghana, ‘Mr. Versatile Show’ in the Ghanaian entertainment industry, which was staged in 2012 and received such glowing reviews, topping the list at the best-organized event that year.

Expectations were high that a follow-up to the very successful event will be showcased in 2013 considering the rave reviews it garnered the previous year, but to the consternation and disappointment of many, the show failed to hold.

Okyeame Kwame has disclosed the circumstances that prevented the critically-acclaimed show from at staging last year and assured Ghanaians of the show’s comeback in the next few months.

According to the venerated rapper, who spoke on ‘Flex on Pluzz’ on Pluzz FM; his firm could not get the needed sponsorship to ensure that production of the show materialized.

He also attributed the no-show to the General Election Petition that had the whole country on lockdown for months in 2013.

“Last year, we could not get half of the sponsorship we got the first time to do the show and I didn’t have money personally to support whatever we had in order for the show to be organized,” he stated.

The ‘Try Another Time’ singer has assured the many followers of the event that, enough sponsorship has been accumulated to ensure that the show comes off in November, this year.

“This year, we want to stage the show 4 times on two different times, 2-4pm and 8-10pm. This is to help spread the cost of production and for us to make a profit as well,” he confirmed.

‘Mr. Versatile Show’ is a musical show laden with comedy and satire that was produced by Okyeame Kwame’s One Mic’ Entertainment that contracted Rover man and Prof. Yartey for the acting and choreography skills for the show.
