IT’S ABSURD TO LINK MUSIGA TO FENNEC’S DEATH – AHUMA BOSCO OCANSEY

The leadership of the Musicians Union of Ghana, MUSIGA, has rubbished speculations that the death of Emmanuel Fennec Okyere, Manager of Hiplife Artiste, Kwaw Kese, could be linked to industry-related hatred for the young promising music producer. Fennec Okyere was brutally murdered on Thursday dawn at his plush Manet Gardens residence on the Spintex road in Accra.

The unknown assailants, who did not steal any item of the deceased, cut the security wires and scaled into the house and shot him dead. Preliminary reports by police suggest there was a struggle in the bedroom with blood all over, when they found him lying in a pool of blood.

But even before the police concludes investigations, speculations in the media and on social networks is rife with suggestions that the deceased, who is reportedly at loggerheads with several artistes in the entertainment industry including MUSIGA, may have been killed by some industry players.

The most common of the speculated conspiracy theories was that Fennec’s death may have something to do with his recent public tussle with the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) over the ownership of the Ghana Music Week. Another angle of accusations is a NEWS-ONE story published on February 13, 2013 in which Fennec complained he was receiving death threats because of MUSIGA.

MUSIGA, has however, taken a strong exception to the suggestions and has called on the public and the media to desist from such speculations, which it fears has the tendency to jeopardize police investigations.

In an interview with Kumasi-based Ultimate Radio, the Administrator of MUSIGA, Ahuma Bosco Ocansey, told Julius Caesar Anadem, “it is ridiculous, and it is the height of absurdity for someone to even imagine that the leadership of Musiga would stoop so low as to countenance such an atrocious idea. And I will urge the members of the media to respect the sensibility of Fennec’s family in these trying moments and avoid fanning the embers of sensationalism and rumor”.

Ahuma Bosco Ocansey described Fennec as a vibrant, enthusiastic and energetic forward thinking young man who had huge dreams for the music industry in Ghana and for the artiste Kwaw Kese. “Kwaw Kese’s talent needed the managerial acumen of Fennec to enable that blossom”.

He asked all well wishers to rather celebrate the life lived by the young man. Meanwhile, Police have begun investigations into the gruesome murder.

The deceased, a popular and successful music producer, also worked with waste management firm Zoomlion as Project Manager and was close confidant to the CEO of Zoomlion.

Fennec was also the Manager of the Accra International Conference Centre, and had great ambitions for Ghana’s entertainment industry. Ultimate Radio’s investigations also revealed that Fennec also owns a plush residence at the executive beach road vicinity in the oil city of Takoradi. Fennec was married with two male kids, a two and three year old.

Fennec is related to Ablekuma South MP, Ursula Owusu, who according to our sources is an Auntie with whom the deceased had stayed with for many years before he got married.
