DANCEHALL IS NEXT TO RULE IN GHANA - SHATTA RAKO

Shatta Rako believes this is the time for Dancehall music to dominate in Ghana. According the smooth reggae/dancehall artist, people are getting fed up with the ‘Azonto’ regime and they are turning to Dancehall.

“Afro Dancehall is a high tempo thing so it’s an advantage for the genre.” According to him, the sudden rise in Dancehall music is because the people are fed up and are sticking to the next available option.

“I just think Dancehall time is up,” he explained Shatta Rako believes that Afro Dancehall artists should do more to improve to sustain the interest of the masses or risk losing the good fortunes to something else that may come up.

He has assured his fans he will continue to feed them with good music till the year end. “My fans should expect continuous release of singles...to show them ‘mi ah di Original Shatta’”.

He recently added Kojo Legend to his name and he believes the brand addition will catch up with music lovers soon.

Dancehall music has become very popular with the rise of artists like Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Iwan, Kaakie etc. The recent releases of R2Bees, Samini and Wizkid have pushed the genre a notch higher.

The popularity of the genre saw the organization of the BASS Awards, a wholly reggae, ragga and dancehall award scheme.
