Cwesi Oteng Tops 2013 Africa Gospel Music Awards Nominations

Award-winning Ghanaian contemporary gospel music artiste, Cwesi Oteng and his BBnZ Live team should be all smiles now as he leads the whole of Africa in terms of nominations in the recently released 2013 Africa Gospel Music Awards (AGMA) nominations list.

Cwesi bagged the highest nominations of five in the following high profile categories: Overall Artiste of the Year (Male), Song of the Year, Album of the Year, West African Artiste of the Year and Event of the Year.

The sensational gospel artiste is also billed as a headline performing artiste for the award ceremony which is slated for Saturday 6th July, 2013 at the plush Great Hall of Queen Mary’s University of London, in East End of London.

The 2013 VGMA Gospel Album of the Year winner had an incredible year in 2012 which saw his major hit songs God Dey Bless Me and Kabiyesi making huge waves all over Africa by getting on to top gospel music radio and TV shows and charts in countries such as Kenya, Gambia, Nigeria, Malawi, Togo, South Africa among others and even on Christian radio outside Africa in the UK, US and Europe. It therefore came as no surprise that Cwesi leads the nominations list for Africa’s most prestigious gospel honorary event.

Cwesi comments: ‘I am humbled by recognition my team and I are getting for the music and message are putting out. Our aim has always been to reach out to all people no matter their background, geographic location, culture and belief and therefore though we are uncompromising on the message of the gospel we try to be very diverse in terms of our approach to music composition and delivery in order to have greater reach.

So it is always fulfilling to get feedback about our reach to people, in this case Africa. I congratulate all nominees especially the nominated Ghanaian artistes and wish everyone the best. I encourage all fans to go to www.africagospelawards.com and vote.’ Following Cwesi closely is South Africa’s female gospel music icon

Ntokozo Mbambo who bagged four categories nominations and Ghanaian gospel rap group, Preachers, who earned three nominations. Some celebrated African gospel artistes who also made the nomination list include Sammie Okposo, Sonnie Badu, Daddy Owen, Frank Edwards, Jimmy Gait, among others.
