We Kill Babies: Anas In Juju Saga

The accused persons with the prosthetic baby and a police officer (middle)
Investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas has managed to get some dreaded witch doctors to confess on video that they literally kill babies, during an undercover operation that has raised questions on whether the journalist is using some spiritual powers to enhance his profession.
Anas had gone undercover to expose some powerful witch doctors whose job was to kill any child born with a disability, because such a child is believed to have evil powers that would bring misfortune to the parents and their neighbors.
The said powerful witch doctors operate at Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region and some parts of the Northern Region and one of them was seen in the video confessing in his local dialect:
“We kills babies who would bring bad luck to their parents. I have personally killed over 100 of such babies by preparing a special type of poison for them.
“Some of them manage to escape the poison and do not die but a majority of them die anyway. We bury them in the forest and put huge black stones on them so that animals do not eat them up.”
Anas said he presented an 18-month-old baby to the witch doctors and told them his business had never seen prosperity after the birth of the child.
The concoction men, after some spiritual consultations with ‘divinity’, then told him that the child was the source of his misfortunes and therefore must be killed through a specially brewed poison.
He said the killers charged him an equivalent of $40, three live fowls and some bottles of hard liquor after which an appointment was fixed for them to come to his home and feed the child with the concoction.
“I had contracted a London-based company to produce a prosthetic baby in the exact replica of the 18-month-old child because I was not very sure what might happen.
When they came, they saw the real child but after they had prepared the poison and were about to kill the innocent boy, I swapped it with the prosthetic baby and that was when the Police swooped in and took over.
Every single thing was being recorded secretly and the Police were in a separate room, monitoring everything on CCTV,” Anas noted.
Residents of Bolgatanga have expressed utter shock that such dreaded and powerful witch doctors could not see that they were dealing with an undercover agent.
“He must be using some powerful juju because the witch doctors see everything in a man’s heart.
If you go to them, they know your mission and whether it is a good one or a bad one.
So why did they not see that Anas had a bad motive if he himself is not using some strong juju?” Fiazal Omar, a Bolga resident wondered in a chat with NEWS-ONE.
This is about the third time the issue of whether or not Anas is using juju has come up.
In 2009, during an undercover job in Bimbila, a cattle owner had ordered his cattle to attack Anas, but the journalist spoke a strange language to the cows and they calmed down.
Again, during the recent undercover work that exposed a certain quack doctor who raped his patients, Anas was said to have walked through a wall during the investigation when a nurse saw him planting a camera and raised an alarm.

Is Jackie Appiah stylishly introducing new boyfriend, Michael Bobby Obodo?

With widespread rumours that Ghanaian star actress, Jackie Appiah has finally divorced her husband, and she would certainly be free to move on with another man.

Could Nigerian actor and activist Michael Bobby Obodo be the new man in her life, as the pair have been spotted together several times in Accra in the past few weeks?

With Bobby looking like Jackie’s date on these outings, we first spotted the pair at D-Black’s album launch (December 16) at the Movenpick Hotel, after which the two had a private meeting at the hotel’s lounge over some drinks.

They also made an appearance together at the Smirnoff Spotlight Shakedown on December 21.

The next time we saw them was at the Aphrodisiac Nightclub (December 22), again Jackie seemed to be showing Bobby around town.

The pair were at it again when they arrived at the Night of 1015 Laughs and Music together on December 26.

Could these two have something going on because their casual outings are raising eyebrows?

I did not refuse to perform at NDC victory party - Amakye Dede

Award winning highlife musician Daniel Amakye Dede has denied media reports that he deliberately refused to perform at the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) victory party held at the Trade Fair Centre at La in Accra on Monday, January 7.

According to him, although he was informed by one Fred Darko that the organizers of the NDC victory jam wanted him to perform for the party supporters, “I told them that because of the death of my beloved uncle I am in my hometown holding meetings with my family members and also preparing for my uncle’s funeral and burial.”

He told 'Beatwaves' in an interview: “It is not because I don’t want to perform for my fans, but the timing was bad for me since it coincided with my family meetings and the funeral arrangements for my late uncle.

I am a business man and I do business with music so I disagree with all those speculating that I deliberately refused to perform for the NDC.”

Amakye Dede, known as Tom Back, who has been consistent throughout his musical career, said “I am not a politician and do not involve myself in politics. I am a musician and because I get paid through my stage performances I am always ready to perform for individuals, organisations and political parties.”

The sober Amakye Dede, whose contribution to the development of highlife music in the country has been recognised by all, stressed that he loved all his fans and would not do things that will upset them, adding “sometimes circumstances do prevent musicians from satisfying their numerous fans.”

He is one of Ghana’s premier highlife musicians and is affectionately called ‘Iron boy’ or ‘Abrantie’ which means ‘gentleman’; a name he got from his late uncle who died recently and will be buried next month.

‘Kukere’ singer, Iyanya wanted by Police

Kukere singer, Iyanya Mbuk, according to reports is wanted by the Police at Mile 3 Division, Port Harcourt, Nigeria over a fraudulent act.

According to the story, the R&B singer allegedly defrauded popular show organizer of 'Nite Of A Thousand Laughs’, Opa Williams of N1.7m (US$ 10,848.76) being payment for the singer’s performance at two events.

According to sources Iyanya was paid the said amount to perform at two ‘Nite of a Thousand Laughs’ events which was held in Benin State and Port Harcourt.

The Kukere singer missed both shows. Guests had waited for the singer to step on stage and thrill them but he was conspicuously missing.

"We were all disappointed, we waited in vain. As soon as Bovi announced he was not going to show up, everybody started leaving", a source who attended the event held at the open ground of the Hotel Presidential, PH said.

Nigeriafilms.com gathered that the singer shunned Opa Williams’ event, performing instead, at another show in Omuma Local Government Area, also in Port Harcourt which also featured Timaya.

Thursday morning, sources say Policemen from the Nigerian Police invited Iyanya and his manager Ubi-Franklin Ekapong for questioning over the matter which was reported by the show organizers led by Opa Williams.

Officers could only get Ubi-Franklin to station but Ubi said, "Yes I was at the Police Station this morning, we have decided to return all money paid to us, it’s not a problem."

Ubi further explained, "We were paid to attend and perform at the Benin State and Port Harcourt shows but we missed both due to reasons beyond our control.”

He added that, “We missed the Benin gig because we were in Ghana as at that time and we arrived pretty late for the PH gig. We however had issues with initial payment from the show organizers also, so we needed to forfeit one for another."

Promote Indigenous Ghanaian Content – Kojo Antwi

Legendary Ghanaian musician, KOJO Antwi, is calling for the establishment of a ministry specifically tasked to manage the entertainment industry of Ghana.

In an interview on Kumasi based Ultimate Radio 106.9 with Kojo Akoto Boateng, the multiple award winning musician said establishing a Ministry of Entertainment is among the top three things he wishes to happen in 2013.

“What I’d like is to have a Ministry of Entertainment. I don’t think it is right that the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Culture oversee the entertainment sector. We need a ministry which will primarily ensure the growth of the industry”, he said.

The ‘Dadie Anoma’ hit maker also wants the general elections moved from December to November.

According to him, moving the general elections to November will prevent the slowing down of entertainment activities during the festive season of election years.

Kojo Antwi rocked Ghana on the 24th of December 2012 and says he’s ever ready to give Ghanaian a lot more in 2013 and a brand new album.

He further added that if he had the power to change anything in 2012, he would “ensure that the media promote indigenous Ghanaian content such that every genre would have a fair share of the market”.

“My new year message to all and sundry is that we have to be grateful to God that we are still alive. It’s great to be Ghanaian. I know we’ve discovered more oil and Ghana will be greater. We should be proud of our nation and I know 2013 will be a greater year for Ghana”, he added.
