MISS GHANA IN A MESS....

Exclusive Events Ghana, organisers of the Miss Ghana event, is yet to explain why there is no one to represent Ghana at this year’s Miss World contest.

The reigning Miss Ghana and her two runners-up have all resigned from their positions.

Though Exclusive Events recently issued a press statement which said the company had sacked Miss Ghana, Nana Akua Baafi, from her position and taken her crown from her because of a chain of bad behaviour, it has emerged that the beauty queen was the one who resigned months before that press statement was issued.

Second runner-up Crystal Selorm Amudzi also confirmed to Peace Fm on Thursday that she resigned from the position and stopped working with Exclusive Events over a year ago.

First runner-up Margaret Kuma Mintah is also reported to have stepped aside.

Surprisingly, Exclusive Events has declined to speak to the media over the development, insisting that journalists who want information on the disaster at hand should stick to a rather confusing press statement the company issued.

Never in the history of the Miss Ghana pageant has the brand name suffered such embarrassment, with all three top winners resigning.

According to media reports, the mother of Inna Mariam Patty, Chief Executive of Exclusive Events, got into a public fight with Nana Akua Baafi.

Inna’s mother was said to have gone to the official residence of Nana Akua Baafi to thrash out a few misunderstandings.

The intended dialogue, however, turned into a scuffle that attracted neighbours to rush to the house to intervene. The case later landed at the Airport Police Station.

Though Exclusive Events has not officially commented on the development, NEWS-ONE’s checks showed that Inna Patty’s mother is one of the directors of the company and that she had gone to Nana Akua Baafi’s residence on behalf of the company.

Inna Party herself is a former Miss Ghana (2004) and is best remembered for giving the then organisers, Sparrow Productions, a lot of problems over delayed prizes.

PETER OF P-SQAURE UNDER ATTACK OVER HIS ABSENCE AT JUDE OKOYE'S WEDDING

Fans of singer Peter Okoye have attacked the P-Square member for allegedly skipping out on his elder brother Jude Okoye‘s wedding.

It is being reported that Peter didn't travel with friends and family to Nnewi, Anambra State, where the traditional ceremony was held on Thursday, July 17, 2014.

NET could not confirm Okoye’s location at the time of this report, but the singer posted pictures on his Instagram account that seem to show he was in Lagos State during the event.

"Shhhhhhhhh", Peter Okoye wrote, posting a picture of himself in front of an unidentified hotel lobby. He then posted another photo, pictured in the Square ville mansion.

Fans have rained abuses on the singer, describing his actions as ‘ungrateful’ and ‘spiteful’. It is believed that Peter Okoye’s absence is a response to Jude’s absence at his own wedding in October 2013.

“You are really acting out… He that forgives is the bravest…. IT SEEMS YOUR MUM WAS THE PILLAR OF PEACE AND UNITY IN YOUR FAMILY..Always remember the #goodtimes.

“people don’t remember How many times you helped them . They only remember one moment u never helped” He is your blood, remember.. #Always think before u act. ALWAYS PUT ANGER IN THE BOOT.@peterpsquare”, an Instagram user @sparklingola wrote.

Others felt Peter Okoye has done nothing wrong, as he is only paying his elder brother back in his own coin.

“good thing you said shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh to them, but they won’t listen if Nigerians should be worried, let them face and be more concern about our missing girls what if ur sisters were among? Now you here Killing urself over Jude’s marriage n family dude! These people don’t fucking know youuuuuuuuuu! Geeez man wake up to reality lol”, another Instagram user @nabbyluv wrote.

CHRISTIANS SHOULD SUPPORT MUSLIMS DURING RAMADAN – DSP KOFI SARPONG

Popular gospel musician Superintendent Kofi Sarpong says it is proper for true Christians to support Muslims during the month of Ramadan because the long period of fasting is not an easy task.

“If you have not fasted before, you would not understand where I am coming from but what I mean is that as Christians we should show empathy and put ourselves in the shoes of our Muslim brothers and sisters during these long days of fasting.

“There are several things we can do to support them by making the fasting less difficult for them. For example if you know you have a Muslim neighbour who is fasting, why would you chose to be eating some sumptuous meal with a nice aroma in the person’s presence when there are other places you can eat without the person seeing you to get tempted?

“There are also many people who do not have enough to break their fast with and we can all do some charity especially in these times. The blessing of the fasting would not only go to the Muslims; it comes to us all because we are worshiping one creator,” Kofi Sarpong noted.

He said Ghanaians should appreciate and continue to protect the peaceful religious co-existence the country is enjoying and not take it for granted.

Kofi Sarpong made these remarks last week after he presented items worth over GH¢3000 to the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Nuhu Sharubutu in Accra. The items included bags of rice, boxes of milo and ideal milk, boxes of Bel-Aqua drinking water, soft drinks among others.

The musician disclosed that it has been a tradition for him to make donations to the Muslim community during Ramadan. He thanked the Chief Imam for his continuous support.

Kofi Sarpong was accompanied by his manager, Ernest Kwasi Ennin.

Sheikh Nuhu Sharubutu expressed gratitude and wished the blessings of Allah for Kofi Sarpong.

GHANA ACTORS GUILD PRESIDENT TO STEP DOWN

Nicknamed by some movie industry stakeholders as the ‘Mugabe of the Actor’s Guild’ for his seemingly long stay in office, President of Ghana Actors Guild (GAG), Mr Samuel Nii Odoi Mensah, has finally disclosed that he’s had enough and will step down during the next elections.

Speaking to Razz Newspaper, Mr Mensah stated that he’s not going to contest for the Guild’s Presidency in the upcoming elections; rather, his aim is to monitor and make sure the Guild has a very successful election.

Over the period, Mr Samuel Nii Odoi Mensah, who has always blamed the inability of the Guild to organise elections to lack of funds, also stated that; at the end of this year, the Guild will have new executives including a new President.

He lamented that many people in the industry have always wanted him out so he sees no need for him to even think of standing for any position and considering the fact that; he has exhausted two terms in office. Actually, Mr Odoi-Mensah has stayed in office for 10 years instead of the constitutionally mandated 8 years.

Mr Odoi-Mensah, who has no suitable successor in mind for the Guild, said: “I have done what I can. I can’t do it all, so it will be better for the Guild members to identify who’s the best candidate to continue with where I got to. The members know what they need so based on those needs, they can choose a suitable person who will work on their needs and I have no problem with that.”

He continued: “I will never think of using my means to campaign or endorse any candidate. All I will do is to ensure we have peaceful elections.”

When asked about the timeline for the elections, he said that, the old executives are still preparing their report whilst a new committee will be formed to monitor and set a date for the general elections.
“Hopefully, the election will come off before December,” Mr Odoi-Mensah assured.

Talking about some of the challenging times during his tenure of office, he said the media has not been friendly with his administration right from day one till date but it got to a point he realised that no matter what one does, a section of the media will criticise, so he realised that, such actions by the media is part of the game and he takes it in his stride.

“even in your family, sometimes, some of your family members try to find fault in certain things you do, so if your family can criticize you, you need to be ready to take any criticism that comes to you as a leader anytime and move forward,” he said.
