SONY ACHIBA WASHES BOWLS IN LONDON

Many are those who travel outside Ghana to search for jobs which can give them more than what they would have earned if they were here.

In our music industry, one artiste cannot reign for a long time so if you are hailed by many at a particular time, you need to use your head fast and make fortunes out of it or else you will go back to the village few years after.

You won’t believe your ears what movie cum music producer Alhaji Banda disclosed about Sony Achiba – the hiplife artiste who sings like an Indian. Flexghana.com after hearing this allegation by Bandex filed this report. We at OMG!Ghana hope this is not true because if it is then a lot needs to be invested in our industry.

Ghanaian hipdia music originator, Sony Achiba, who is currently domiciled in the United Kingdom, washes bowls in a pantry in London, flexghana.com has learnt allegedly.
This information was disclosed on Saturday 25th January, 2014, by one of Ghana’s influential music and movie producers, Alhaji Banda aka Bandex on Adom fm`s Entertainment Hall hosted by Kojo Preko Dankwah.

According to Bandex who was opining on challenges of the music industry, most musicians who could not stand the vagaries of the music industry, relocated abroad to find some menial jobs to do. He said most of these musicians were going through hard times to survive.

“Could you imagine that an artiste like Sony Achiba now works in a pantry in London, where he washes utensils? This is how our music industry has deteriorated to. Our musicians are suffering a lot and so we need to help them,’’ Bandex revealed.

Our attempts to reach Sony Achiba to get his side of this story has been abortive but we promise to get in touch with him and when we do, we will get his response published.

However, flexghana.com is not by this underrating any particular job or profession. We are just throwing light on why our musicians would abandon the music profession to actively engage in something else.

MARRIAGE IS AS SWEET AS FLIRTING - EDDIE WATSON

It is said that there is more pleasure and fun in flirting with a beautiful woman than getting married to her but actor Eddie Watson says he sees no difference in flirting, dating, courting and marriage.

About six months ago, Eddie secretly got married to his long-time TV actress girlfriend, Naomi Wood and he says the feeling of enjoyment is still the same as when they were dating.

“Marriage is no different from the wonderful friendship, love and great partnership I already shared with my wife before we married. Only difference is we are legally tied,” the popular Liberia born Ghanaian actor told NEWS-ONE.

Eddie made the comment when asked how marriage had been treating him and if the union had met his expectations.

Eddie’s wife, Naomi, is a TV actress who has been in the entertainment industry for some time now. The two dated for two years before getting married.

Before Eddie’s marriage to Naomi, there was a well reported drama between him and fellow actress Sika Da Diva.

Sika had fallen in love with Eddie but was not able to disclose her feelings for him. Consequently, she suffered heartbreak when the actor started dating Naomi.

When NEWS-ONE contacted Sika over the issue, she initially expressed anger, then surprise, before admitting that she indeed was dying for Eddie.

“I am falling for somebody and so what? Yes I remember saying I had a crush on Eddie but that does not mean I want to have sex with him,” she stated.

Sika revealed, however, that she had been having ‘funny dreams’ about Eddie.

Meanwhile, Eddie has stated that his career was successful last year and expects same this year.

He also made history last year, when he partnered Pascal Amanfo for a production titled, ‘Jack and Jill’. The movie, which is being edited currently, will hit the big screens very soon.

Presently, Eddie has a couple of productions in Nigeria this year and he is hopeful 2014 will be a good career year for him.

"ORIGINAL" AFIA SCHWARZENEGGER BOUNCED AT A CLUB IN KUMASI

According to a reliable source, Afia Schwarzenegger (Original) tried to enter a popular night club in Kumasi but was bounced.

According to the report, she wanted to use her fame to enter for free but unfortunately, the bouncers who hardly watch her programme did not recognize her and demanded she pays.

According to the source, when they asked her to pay, she said in Twi, “Oh! Mo nnim me, eye mu nipa oh! Afia! Afia Schwarzenegger” meaning, “Oh! Don’t you recognize me, it’s me oh! Your sister, Afia! Afia! Afia Schwarzenegger”

The bouncer in charge retorted, “Schwarzenegger? Hwe!!! Wo! Woo wo ye Schwarzenegger, yen yeye Terminators na ye gyina ha no, toa sika no na gyae dea wo kyire no woho” meaning, “Schwarzenegger?! You’re Schwarzenegger, we’re Terminators as we stand here, pay and stop what you’re saying”

But for the timely intervention of the Club Manager, it would have been a different case.

The musician says he does not intend marrying although he already has five children with five women.

Wanlov, who is a member of music duo FOKN Bois, explained to myjoyonline.com in an interview that he does not believe in man-made institutions such as marriage.

According to him, he does not have time to "devote my life to man-made institutions such as religion and marriage."

He has five children - aged 7, 4, 2, 2, and 3 weeks old - with American, British, Ghanaian, Danish and Japanese women.

The musician, who is not new to controversy, has given the children very interesting names.

Abonsamposuro, Mali Wasty, Ama Manpi, Tivi Lili and Kojolescu Alata Mori are the names of Wanlov the Kubolor's children.

For the last born, Kojolescu Alata Mori, he took to Facebook to explain that: "We have named my 5th born child Kojolescu Alata Mori … 1st name is a Ghana/Romania hybrid, 2nd name is to honor his Japanese grandfather + persecuted innocent gay Nigerians and last name is Yaa Ninja’s last name … Domo Arigato."

I DON'T DESERVE A NOMINATION IN 2014 GHANA DJ AWARDS; SAYS DJ PERFEKT

Popular DJ, DJ Perfekt, known in real life as Henry Ofori Nyarko, has called on the organizers of the annual Ghana DJ Awards to drop his name from the awards' nominations stating he does not deserve any nomination.

The DJ has been nominated in the 'Artiste DJ of the Year' category of the awards, which awards excellence in the Disc Jockey profession in Ghana.

Also in the 'Artiste DJ of the Year' category are DJ Toyoo (Tic Tac), DJ Mynor (R2Bess), DJ Mensa (Sarkodie), DJ Carlos (VIP), and DJ Godday (Edem).

According to DJ Perfekt, who was speaking in an interview on the Airtel Entertainment News on Drive Time on Joy FM, organizers of the awards, Mercury Republic, have gravely erred in nominating him in the awards.

"So far as I am concerned, I don't remember the last time I played for the artiste that I am nominated [for] - that is Samini," he said.

According to him, the last time he played for Samini was about four years ago.
"So if I am nominated in that category I feel like there is a lot of homework to be done," DJ Perfekt stressed.

Reacting to allegations of not doing due diligence with the nomination process, Mercury Quaye, CEO of Mercury Republic, said it is unfortunate this issue is coming up and stressed that there is nothing wrong with the nomination process.

"It's quite interesting the kind of revelation we are having now. Our research revealed that there was a programme where Samini did a live band and Perfekt played with the live band," Mercury Quaye said.

Although he cannot name the programme on which DJ Perfekt played for Samini, his team "will have to cross check," to rectify the anomaly, if only there is any.

He promised that, "If we go and check and DJ Perfekt is right, DJ Perfekt's name will be dropped from the nominees' list for the Ghana DJ Awards 2014."

Mercury Quaye explained that organizers have taken steps to ensure that this year's event is very transparent and fair.

"One thing that we have done this year is to take the awards [and] spread across the country so if you look at the nominations list we have gone beyond Accra, gone beyond Kumasi, we've gone as far as Tamale just to make sure that all these other DJs that don't really have the spotlight are also recognized," he said.

Mercury Quaye therefore urged that, "If anybody has a problem with anything with respect to the awards," they have been nominated "and they feel they don't deserve to [be nominated]...they should just reach us and the right thing done."

Asked if his name is not dropped from the nominations and he wins, will he accept the award, DJ Perfekt stressed that, "I don't deserve to be in that particular category this year. I think my name should be dropped from that category."

I LOVE TO DATE MEN — ACTRESS NIKKI

It is often said that it is difficult to figure out what most women want. But for adorable actress and Sexiest Bikini Wear winner, Nikki Samonas, the one thing she wants, and enjoys doing is dating men.

With a gleaming and infectious smile showing her pearly whites to full effect, she told 'Showbiz' that she loves dating men because it gives her the opportunity to meet people who matter in society and also to get connected.

In an answer to what dating means to her and what it entails, she said, “Dating is not neccessarily being intimate. It is more of spending fun time with another person to find out whether you two are compatible and from there you can either decide to take it to the next level or quit.”

Even though she hesitated to state the number of men she had dated, she went on to say that she saw the men as and when she wanted to. “It is not mandatory for me to see them because of the nature of my job and I respect my job a lot so I see them when I want to,” she said.

“Ladies like dating but they are afraid to come out and say it because of the stigma they’ll face especially in showbiz circles. It is very difficult to say the truth in showbiz because of the insults, name-calling and meaning people would give to what you say.”

She went on to say that dating someone doesn’t mean you’re sleeping with the person. “I see it as an avenue to know each other. It is a basic requirement for you to choose a partner.”

The host of the African Movie Review on TV3 said the only challenge she has in the movie industry is her complexion as it sometimes denies her certain roles. “There are times that there are certain movie roles I would love to play but because I am fair and they need someone with a dark complexion, I lose that opportunity,” she said.

“But all in all, movies have opened unimaginable doors for me even though I’ve been tagged as a bad girl because of the romantic roles I play and the sex scenes that come with it.”

To confirm her acting prowess, Shirley Frimpong-Manso, CEO of Sparrow Productions had a lot to say about her. “Nikki is a very colourful and vibrant actress. People should watch out for her in my upcoming series which will be premiered in March this year. It’s a totally different Nikki.”

Born Nikoletta Samonas but known to all her fans as Nikki, she graduated from KNUST in 2009 where she studied Graphic Design, TV production, Animation and Advertising. Her first appearance in movies was in a minor role in Abdul Salam’s Beyonce and she has since featured in many others, including playing the lead role in AA Production’s Pretty Queen. Other movies she has featured in include War of Roses, Desperate Measures, Deadly Obsession, Pretty Queen, Wrong Line and Red Label.

Nikki Samonas describes herself as a very smart, principled and God-fearing lady with values.
