MUSIGA TO COUGH GHC 2M ACCOUNTABILITY SOON

The President of the Musicians Union of Ghana Bice Obour Osei Kuffour has promised the union shall make public a special accountability report on the government’s GHC 2M to the creative arts industry soon.

Flex newspaper did a story on 4th Sept, 2013 that sought to find out which stakeholders in our showbiz industry, benefited from the GHC 2M the government of Ghana approved for the creative arts sector in the 2012 fiscal budget. The other unions and or associations pointed accusing fingers at MUSIGA as the sole beneficiary of the said budget money.

For his response, the President of MUSIGA Bice Obour Osei Kuffour told the media some weeks ago: “this money was given to the creative arts sector through the efforts of MUSIGA so we received it on behalf of the creative arts industry. It was given for 3 basic purposes, first to conduct research to assess the contribution of music to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Ghana, secondly, organize an annual Ghana Music Fair, other wise known as Ghana Music Week celebration and thirdly rebrand and build structures for the music industry.

I don’t understand why the government has again given the creative arts GHC 3M, we have not received the money, but the media is not asking the government about it, meanwhile, people are still asking about the GHC 2M which is almost entering its second year since the government gave out the money.

Well, we have been sending reports to the government. Nonetheless, we shall prepare a special accountability report and let you have a copy for your perusal.”Mrs. Rahmat Boakye Wasin CA of Rahmy Consult – the Financial Consultant to MUSIGA, bore out the President’s promise, “we shall prepare a special report and subsequently make it available to the media very soon.”

The President of MUSIGA has personally given his words. Let’s all keep our fingers crossed for the special accountability report. That will be when we can all ask the relevant questions where necessary. Until then….MOTWUM!!

TV3S BABIEE BLOWS HER OWN HORN

Getting endorsement in the industry of one’s field of endeavour is a huge plus whichever way one looks at it, but Babiee, host of Guys Avenue on TV3, says she does not need nominations to know she is the best at what she does.

The young woman got a nomination in last year’s Radio and Television Personality Awards (RTP) but missed out on picking an award.

She has not been nominated in any category this year and she told Showbiz last Tuesday that she did not need an award as an approval of her capabilities. Once her fans and audience were happy with what she was doing, she believed her job and joy were complete.

“There are many people excelling at what they do but have not received awards in their chosen fields. So I’m not bothered that I’ve not been awarded for being the best at what I do.

“We have a handful of female presenters in Ghana but I think I stand tall among them considering those I started with. My delivery is on point, I have command over the English language and I give my audience what they expect. Though I am still learning, I think I am on top of the game,” Babiee said.

“Don’t get me wrong. The other female presenters are doing their best but from where I have come and with the impact I made when I was at Vibe Fm, as well as on TV3’s Hot Gossip and Mentor, I can confidently say I’m on top of my game.”

Real name Bridget Adjoa Sasu-Dapaah, the young lady who became a radio presenter five years ago at Vibe FM, hosted Hot Gossip on TV3 for almost two years. She insisted that her style of presentation, her knack of putting stars and celebrities on the spot as well as her fairly huge following, all pointed to her being the best.

“During my days at Vibe Fm, I had a huge following and it was something else on Hot Gossip on TV3. As the host of Hot Gossip, I was able to put a lot of celebrities on check with my show. I presented it so well that celebs in Ghana became very cautious of themselves,” Babiee boasted about the programme which is currently on break for a revamp.

Babiee, currently hosts Guys Avenue on TV3 which airs every Saturday and Home Grown on YFM every Sunday.

“I don’t copy anyone. I am myself and I love what I do. Ever since I started my career as a presenter, I have had so many positive comments about the great work I am doing. Even with Hot Gossip which courted controversy sometimes, I still had a lot of people commending me for doing a great job.”

About whether she would be hosting Hot Gossip again since it has been off air for more than a year now, the young presenter said she would definitely come back with a bang.

“Hot Gossip is my baby, I started the show and it made a lot of impact. The show is being revamped and it will be back on the screen soon,” she said.

Asked who she was dating, Babiee, who is the CEO of Treckkers Travel and Tour Agency, said she will be settling down soon with her sweetheart she found not too long ago.

“I know a lot of people would want to know who Babiee will be settling down with but I can say that the man I have is very sweet and I love him dearly. He is the best thing that ever happened to me. Very soon I would be a proud married woman,” Babiee happily said.

The diminutive actress has bounced back to limelight after keeping a low profile due to her burnt face which we gathered was caused by cream reactions.

Though, for a while, she was making relevance in the TV series before her 'facial cream attack' but now she is okay to grace movie jackets now.

From the pictures above, you'll agree with us that the actress has got her healing, and she's bounced back again looking stunningly beautiful!

“NOW I CANNOT STAND THE SCENT OF ALCOHOL OR WEE"- LORD KENYA

He was a General in the Hiplife Army. One of the big shots in contemporary Ghanaian secular music; the hottest stage performer and, for a ‘l-o-o-o-n-g’ time, Ghana’s Rap Heavyweight Champion. Who? The multi award-winning Abraham Philip Kojo Akpor Kainya aka Lord Kenya, of course!

And he has the evidence to prove all the above claims. As a crowd-puller and master performer, Lord Kenya’s name was ‘automatically’ top on the list of artistes who played at almost all big shows in the Ghanaian/African communities around the world.

In October, 2010 news broke out that Lord Kenya had claimed that he had been’ arrested’ by the Holy Spirit and was thus a born-again Christian.

From Friday, October 25 to Sunday, October 27, Lord Kenya will celebrate three years of his new-found life in Christ at the main auditorium of the Kumasi Technical Institute, Kumasi.

He will be joined by Pastor Joe Beecham, Moses O. K, Agnes Opoku Agyemang, Brother Sammy, Jack Ackom, Slim Becky, Angel Michael Osei, Brother Jackson and Agape Incorporated to praise the Lord at a special anniversary programme.

In a chat with Lord Kenya, he told showbiz he had put the world behind him and was enjoying an amazing relationship with God.

According to him, his call to evangelism started when he went to his regular wee base to get his supply of the stuff after seeing off a friend.

“It was there that I was hit by lightning and I fell flat. I tried getting up but couldn’t so I went on my knees in a prayerful pose and started crying like a baby”.

“I refused to take my usual supply of wee that night and headed home but I was ‘arrested’ by the Holy Spirit and ended up in a church in my neighbourhood called the Christian Boanerges Gospel Ministry where I was warmly received and anointed.”

“All the while, I was crying. I have not been the same since that night. I have quit smoking and drinking and now spend my time in the house of the Lord. I have become very prayerful as well, Kenya said.

Lord Kenya said it baffles him that he sleeps very well these days without the aid of alcohol or wee because he knows those are very difficult habits to kick out of one’s life but he has been able to do that by the abundant grace of God.

“Now I cannot stand the scent of alcohol or wee and I am trying hard to convince those I used to smoke with to quit the habit.”

According to Kenya, he feels extremely relieved and humbled by the whole process, adding that he is the happiest person on earth.

“I realised I was lost but now I have been found. There is a perception among young people that smoking makes one tough but all that is not true. The money people spend on drugs can be used on more useful things.

“If it is not God, somebody should tell me who has kept me safe and alive all these years despite the tribulations and the unexpected things that happened to me.”

Many may perhaps find it curious that a personality like Lord Kenya is preaching such ideals with almost Biblical fervor. He, however, states that he has always been a God-fearing person and his faith keeps deepening all the time.
