Having a good record deal is the topmost dream of most musicians in
Ghana and Africa as a whole. This is because they do not gain much from
album sales that - is if they want to make a living from making music.
Playing shows is also another venture where musicians make some money.
But not all of them get the chance to be on such platforms.
This makes gaining a world record deal one of their main priorities
which they work hard at. Musicians in Africa who have benefited from
such huge record deals are Jon Gremain whose deal got terminated just
last year, Dbanj, P Square and a whole lot more.
One main musician who has gained the attention of music listeners in
the world and could be on his way in signing a world record deal this
year is Elome Adablah popularly known as EL. Undisputedly, EL is one of
the versatile musicians Ghana has ever had. He is a rapper, a singer and
a beat producer as well.
He is the one behind hit songs like “Obuu Mo”, “Kaalu”, "One Ghana for Your Pocket" and a whole lot of hit tracks.
Now the question is, comparing EL to the other musicians in Africa who
have struck good record deals with record labels worldwide, could he be
on his way in signing such a world record deal?
Because previewing the kind of work he has been doing since the release
of his first single, good music videos, good management, good branding
and most of all his talent, he is no different from the musicians who
have gained such recognition (P Square, Davido, Wizkid, etc). So if the
above qualities are conceded in signing a record deal, then there is no
argument EL is on his way to sign a world record deal.
Even though the music world has not seen the other sides of EL lately,
aside sticking to the Azonto movement, it still doesn’t narrow his
chance on being on track to sign a world record deal this year. As we
all have lived to see, language is never a barrier in selling outside
Africa.
So we just hoping his talent and hard work will land him a deal with an
international company this year. Since our brothers from Nigeria for
the past years have had good history from such deals are equally good as
him.

Some ladies have threatened to kill themselves because of me – Kojo Nkansah
Kumasi based actor, Lil Wayne aka Kojo Nkansah may have gained
popularity as Ghana’s most ugly actor when he started his acting career
but now, he claims “a lot of single women are bent on attracting my
attention but I keep telling them I am engaged.
“Some have even threatened to kill themselves if I don’t accept their proposal” Lil Wayne told Showbiz last Thursday.
According to the 26 year- old actor who is known for movies such as Azonto Ghost, Sika Kasa, Bosam Bofo, Mogya Kronkron, Obaa Nti and Agye Nyame Ba Mu, he sometimes feel bad about the situation but there is nothing he can do since he is engaged to his sweetheart, Patricia Afriyie and plans to marry her soon.
Lil Wayne said he would sometimes have to call his girlfriend on phone in front of the women expressing love to him to prove that he wasn’t lying when he said he was in a relationship.
He described his girlfriend, Patricia as a sweet lady who has been by him for close to five years when he was nobody.
“Some celebrities will easily forget about their girlfriends they have toiled with when they became famous, but I will not do that for anything because she has helped me a lot. I know if I was nobody, the ladies who are willing to date me now will probably not accept me if I wanted to date them”, Lil Wayne said.
He stated that he didn’t want to take advantage of any lady because he is now famous, “ I know a lot of celebrities who go running after different ladies when the cash starts coming but I am comfortable with who I am dating now and never have I thought of breaking up with her”.
Although he has earned the attention of many Ghanaians with his witty words and good acting, Lil Wayne claims his best is yet to come.
According to him, he is always learning new things and tries to improve upon what he’s done previously.
He said “I don’t allow stardom to get into my head; I rather keep calm and learn from others because I know where I am coming from. I have really gone through a lot before getting here and if I am making it today, I believe the best thing is to learn more and be on top for a very long time”.
Talking about how he entered into movies, Lil Wayne a former student of Methodist Primary JSS in Kumasi said he wasn’t a brilliant student in class but won many awards for his drama group in school because he was very funny.
He said his friends had always advised him to go into movies and when he had a chance during an audition he did his best and that was it.
“I was very nervous seeing Agya Koo, Nana Ama McBrown, Kyeiwaa, Emelia Brobbey and Mercy Asiedu the first time on set but because I was doing plays at school, it wasn’t much of a problem for me acting alongside the big names”.
Born to Mr. Kojo Nkansah and Miss Adwoa Offei in Kumasi, Lil Wayne said a lot of people have invited him to grace their functions but couldn’t make it because he is the indoor type.

Actress Juliet Ibrahim Takes Her Music Career Serious
Actress Juliet Ibrahim Safo seems to be serious about her mission to conquer Ghana’s music scene and beyond.
Following in the footsteps of Genevieve Nnaji, Stella Damasus, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde and the controversial Tonto Dikeh, Juliet has released a single titled ‘Celebration.’
The song features fast rising dancehall artiste Jupita and was produced by Sammie Blac. Juliet has promised to consider her music talent as a major priority and is working on three other singles with the ‘Bayla Boys’ (R2Bees) and Nana Ama McBrown.
Singing at family gatherings and at church at age six, Juliet’s Sunday school teacher, Mrs. Danielle Dialllo expressed her surprise when she first saw Juliet in a movie.
“Juliet has being singing since childhood and I understand the delay because she has a scale of preference; so for me, I’m not surprised at all,” Juliet’s mother revealed. On January 1, 2013, sexy Juliet was named among the top 10 influential female celebrities in Africa for the year 2012.
Being the only Ghanaian on the list, Juliet Ibrahim and Omotola Jalade (Nigerian) are the only actresses believed to have impacted positively on the society in 2012.
The year seems to have started well for the actress as she tweeted, “it’s just the beginning…” Barely a week ago, Juliet’s name popped up in the compilation of the Highest Paid and Influential Actresses in Ghana.
“The greatest joy of every celebrity is to be honoured therefore I thank God for this recognition and I dedicate it to my team for the hard work,” Juliet said. Presently, the Face of Ghana Movie 2011 is on set shooting her first production as the executive producer under her nickname; ‘Jewelz’ Production.

Nana Ama McBrown crash was murder plot
"News-One" has gathered from sources close to Nana Ama McBrown that the car crash which almost claimed her life last week could have been an assassination attempt possibly because of Maxwell, her reported lover boy.
“Nana Ama is very famous and has made so many enemies consciously or unconsciously. Maxwell is gradually growing in the industry and has made some many enemies. We believe strongly that some hit men were hired to take them out,” a source close to McBrown told News-One.
“Anybody can be a suspect for assassination attempt, even me. It could be an angry ex-boyfriend or ex-girlfriend trying to settle a score with them,” another source revealed to News-One.
Popular actress Nana Ama was in a black Range Rover with her lover Maxwell Mensah around 2am on the George Walker Bush Motorway, last Wednesday, heading towards their residence at Mallam, when the ill-fated incident happened.
Upon approaching the Lapaz traffic lights which were then blinking amber, a vehicle from nowhere rammed into their Range Rover. They were rushed to the 37 Military Hospital whilst unconscious and the actress was immediately whisked to the Intensive Care Unit.
Maxwell also suffered a fractured arm. News-One can confirm that Maxwell Mensah has dated several female celebrities in the industry, with sexy saucy singer Mzbel being one of his conquests. Though not proven beyond doubt, names like actress Vicky Zugah and singer Diamond have also been linked to him.
Nana Ama has also dated a few top shots in Ghana including Okyeame Kwame and Nana Wiafe Akenteng, a Chief. She was also linked to actor Omar Sherif but she has denied that link.
Publicist for Nana Ama McBrown, said the actress was currently on admission at the Yaa Asantewa War (F2) of the 37 Military Hospital and responding to treatment. She has a P.O.P on her right arm because she dislocated a bone on that arm.
Meanwhile, the Tesano Police says they are investigating circumstances that led to the near fatal accident involving the actress and her lover.
DSP Ernest Acheampong, the Tesano Divisional MTTU Commander, said because of the conflicting accounts of the incident by the persons involved, the police were conducting further investigations to ascertain the true cause of the accident.
