I’VE NOT FOUND LOVE IN GHANA - AKI

A few months’ back, diminutive movie star and comic actor Osita Iheme otherwise known as Paw Paw, was in the news for being in an altar bound relationship with fast rising Ghanaian actress Nana.

Osita Iheme who is regarded as one of Nollywood’s most eligible bachelors, has been under pressure since his screen twin and friend, Cheinedu Ikedieze ‘Aki’ got married to his pretty wife Nneoma in 2011.

The actor who recently published his first book titled ‘Inspired 101’ said in an interview with Encomium that contrary to reports making rounds, he is still very single.

“I didn’t fall in love with anybody o,” he cried out.

The actor added that: “I only acted a movie with a Ghanaian actress ‘Nana’ that’s all. I can’t think of going to Ghana if I have not seen anybody to marry there. Of course, you can marry anywhere you locate your partner. But for now, I’ve not found love in Ghana. It’s just that I acted with this lady Nana and we were so close in the movie that people imagined I was dating her.”

Iheme said the movie in question is an indigenous movie shot in Ghana titled ‘Peace and Love’.

SOMEBODY HAS CASTRO'S PHONE...

Every well-thinking Ghanaian would have wished that the Castro Saga should have come to a logical conclusion already but with the artiste and his said acquaintance, Janet Bandu still missing; it leaves more conspiracy theories, conjectures and wrong leads.

One of such theories that were not elaborated upon by the Ghana Police Service during their less revealing press conference last week, is the whereabouts of the mobile phone of the artiste.

In a chat with Castro’s father Mr. John Eshun Tagoe, he stated that; it has already been established that his son did not jet-ski with his phone but the family can still not find the whereabouts of the phone.

“Before the incident, Castro called me with his phone and I had also been calling his line after the supposed incident. Initially, it was going through but someone kept cutting the line anytime I called until it got to a point when the phone was switched off,” he explained.

According to him, the police claim they are doing all they can to unravel the case, but the family is also doing their private investigations to assist the authorities. Mrs. Lydia Naa Dede Tagoe, Castro’s mother also said that; she’s confused over the whole issue, especially when people keep narrating different stories to them – but she believes God’s time is the best.

Mrs. Tagoe explained that, they were told that Castro’s phone was nowhere to be found but they were informed initially that he did not go to the waters with his phone.

“I can’t even sleep, am growing slim and people are just keeping me in suspense with different calls and narrations. For now; I would not like to speak on the issue, because the more I speak about it, the more it keeps me in despair, I put my hope and trust in the Lord,” an obviously distressed Mrs. Tagoe stated.

However, in the case of Janet Bandu, her family has been able to retrieve her phone after so much back and forth. The family are said to have retrieved Janet’s phone from her close pal, Alberta, who is said to have taken their missing daughter to Ada.

Per the testimonies shared by the parents of Castro, it is clear that the phone of the hiplife artiste is in the possession of one of the many people who went on the fun trip to Ada but attempts by the paper to reach Samuel Anim Addo, Business Manager/PRO of Asamoah Gyan to address the issue of Castro’s phone proved futile.

JOEY B MELTS FOR ACTOR ADJETEY ANANG

‘Tonga’ rapper Joey B couldn’t hold his feelings when he came face-to-face with his childhood favourite actor, Adjetey Anang, on Monday at the Silverbird Cinemas in Accra.

It was B’s first time meeting the man who is known for his popular role as ‘Pusher’ in rested series, “Things We Do For Love.”

They both went to the Silverbird Cinemas to sell popcorn for movie fans who attended the holiday screening of actress Lydia Forson’s produced film, A Letter From Adam, when they had their ‘heart to heart’ meeting.

Upon seeing Adjetey, Joey B and his friend bowed and started shouting Adjetey’s name in admiration. They poured out their warmest feelings and esteem for Adjetey while movie fans looked on.

Adjetey was left with no choice than to also bow along with them as they all exchanged pleasantries in front of the cameras.

The calm actor, who recently featured in the first season of Iroko TV web series, Poison Bait, directed by Leila Djansi, remains one of Ghana’s popular actors from late 90s.

NOLLYWOOD ACTOR REPORTEDLY MEDIA CONSULTANT TO PREZ GOODLUCK JONATHAN

Nollywood actor, Saint Obi is reportedly working as a media consultant for President Goodluck Jonathan.

He is currently planning “ingenious” strategies for the president’s re-election in 2015, Daily Times NG reports.

“Despite the security challenges in the country, which will certainly end very soon, no Nigerian President had performed better than President Goodluck Jonathan in terms of first 3 years as President. This is a fact, not the falsehood circulated by 2015 power seeking propagandists…” he reportedly said.

Obi is rumoured to have recently purchased a bullet proof 2014 G65 AGM Mercedes Benz worth N46million. Many are said to have questioned his ability to buy such an extravagant vehicle, seeing as he hasn’t acted in movies in a long time, reports state. Some attribute his alleged new found wealth to his new position.

I WON’T TALK TO THE MEDIA FOR FREE, PAY ME IF YOU NEED ME – ACTRESS

Veteran Ghanaian actress, Irene Opare, has stated that the media should start paying her for interviews she grants on commercial programmes – otherwise, she’s sorry.

“Currently, most of the media houses are saying, as for Irene Opare if you invite her to honour your interview, she does not come, she’s too known! I’ve heard that a lot but when they call me, I ask them, what do you want me to do for you? If you are doing a programme and you want me to come and talk about the art, as a resource person, you have to pay me! I will charge you!” she said.

Irene is seriously championing this advocacy because, to her – she is not a neophyte in Ghana’s showbiz industry and for that matter, should be accorded her due.

“Some of us started long ago and we sweat out! We did hard work to get to where we are. It wasn’t cheap at all! No radio station or TV station made it for us – so if we sweat to get to where we are, it is about time we take money for it. Why is it that when the media needs a celebrity for a show they come for us the known ones? They don’t because the established ones have huge followers! Irene Opare is a household name! He who does not know me is only a kid! Made my name over 20 years ago so I don’t need you to make me a star,” she revealed.

Irene, who also thinks the media, is not helping social intervention projects celebrities embark on, continued: “Has Razz written anything about me before! Have you? I’m asking you! Answer me! Meanwhile I’ve been doing a lot over the years! The whole country is filled with filth! We are living in poor sanitation! I started ‘Clean Mama’ campaign since 2010”.

“Have you written anything about it before?” She reiterated her point: “If a media house wants content, like say celebrity profile or interview you on a matter, they will call you to come to their studio but when we bring our projects for help, you don’t! It is only nice that when we also want something from you, you have to do without us paying for it because we can give content”.

“If I sit on your radio and you interview me, I’m giving you content for your show! So if you don’t pay me and someday I’m also bringing something to you, I don’t have to pay! Rather, they will call you and they won’t pay you or even pay for your petrol. Meanwhile, these same stations if you take your programme t them, you pay for it!”

She also revealed that, she recently drove to a TV station upon invitation for an interview and had to wake up at dawn to the station which is far from where she lives. At the end of the show, the producer of the show did not even give her money for fuel rather: “All they did was to smile and said, oh we thank you. You did well! God bless you! God bless, God bless is a past thing! Especially for me Irene Opare!”
She suggested what media houses should do if they really want her on their platforms for interview. “If you want me, call me and let’s sit down. It can be barter. I can come to your show as content so that when I also want to do a programme, I can bring you a CD for you to play for me”.

Irene Opare started acting in former GBC’s Thursday Theatre at age 14. She however started professional acting in 1989 when she was employed at old Parliament House – where she was part of Parliament’s Information, Communication and Education then widely known as ICE under President Jerry John Rawlings regime.

Irene Opare, who became famous at a tender age, has acted with revered names in Ghana’s movie industry such as: David Dontoh, Dzifa Glikpoe, Dzifa Gomashie, Fred Amugi, Late Michael Moncar, and others. In 1990 she started acting with Abibigroma.

List of movies she’s acted in include: ‘Demna’, ‘Black Sunday’, ‘Police Officer’, and ‘Destiny’ – which actually shot her to fame; ‘God is Wicked’, amongst others. She has strong passion for advocacy works and for that reason, was contracted by Unilever in 2010 for a sanitation project, supported by Zoomlion which has since earned her the name ‘Clean Momma’.
