WHO HOSTS 2013 KUMAWOOD & AKOBEN MOVIE AWARDS?

As time fast approaches Friday, December 27, the question on most Ghanaians lips is, who hosts this year’s Kumawood and Akoben Movie Awards?

Last year’s event saw a picturesque collaboration between morning show host Kwame Adinkra and Irin of GTV as they geared the affairs of the show but the host of this year’s awards ceremony has not been disclosed despite the number of days left for the event.

Organisers of the awards have kept mum about hosts of the awards but close sources have disclosed to us that a popular male radio presenter and one Kumawood superstar will be hosting the show.

Who could these two personalities be?

Kumawood and Akoben Movie Awards come off on Friday, December 27 2013 at the True Vine Hotel, Ahodwo, Kumasi.

DESMOND ELLIOT IN ROMANCE CONTROVERSY WITH BLOOD SISTERS

Star actor, Desmond Elliot is in the middle of a serious controversy. The handsome Nollywood top shot, National Enquirer gathered is presently in a sizzling romance with two blood sisters and this has been causing squabbles between the half-caste ladies of same parents, Roseline and Yvette Muere.

According to one of Desmond’s close friends, the actor has been secretly stepping out with the two sisters separately and as at the last time, he was spotted with the eldest, Roseline Muerer at the just concluded Nollywood at 20 event which held at the prestigious Intercontinental hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos. Though not so many people is aware that they came together, the “couple” who came in same car stylishly stepped into the hall in a ‘CODED’ manner to deceive the public.

And in another development, Desmond whose wife has bore him 2 set of twins has also been seen with the youngest Muerer, Yvette at The Mall, where they went to see movies together, he has also flown the teenage girl to several movie sets in Calabar and as a matter of fact, the school certificate holder, Yvette has once crashed Desmond’s coupe’s car which she cruises around.

Tracing the genesis of their relationship, we gathered that, the beautiful Roseline sought Desmond’s help to make her an actress and no sooner they met than he (Desmond) featured her to star alongside notable faces like Uti Nwachukwu, Ini Edo, Lydia Forson, Morris Sesay in one of the films he directed, In The Cupboard, a story that revolves around the lives of six siblings born into the rich, aristocratic Desouza family; a name synonymous with wealth & power, the rest as they say has been history.

The source told National Enquirer further that Desmond and Roseline’s affair blossomed to the extent that, Rose’s mum got wind of it, this was what informed the closeness of Rose younger sister, Yvette and before anybody could say Jack Robinson, the teenage girl had moved in with Desmond in his matrimonial home in Lekki without her sister’s consent, and meanwhile Desmond’s wife has since been in the US where she was delivered of their second set of twins.

Bubble however burst when Yvette’s whereabouts was unknown and Rose’s efforts to visit her boyfriend who had paraded and introduced her to friends as the new woman in his life were abortive, this aroused suspicion as Rose had to confront her sister to tell her of her hidden place. It was a hot argument between the blood sisters but we learnt they later resolved, even though Yvette confessed that nothing has happened between her and Desmond despite that she’s been everywhere with him including staying in his matrimonial home and cruising his ride.

Trust your darling National Enquirer, in our efforts to nail the story, we rang Desmond Elliot and his swift response was not just appalling but amazing, here us: “this call is from National Enquirer, we’re investigating a story of your relationship with the Muerer sisters, Roseline and Yvette, we would like to know more about it, after a moment of sigh, he told us he was driving and after confronted him with the fact at hand, in a trembling voice, the actor said “look, just wait like that, and the next thing was a lady’s voice on the line, “hi hello, my name is Roseline Muerer, how’re you, and just before we began to ask her anything, Desmond spoke again, just wait o, hold on again and alas, he put the younger Muerer on the line again, hello how’re you, my name is Yvette and he got the line back line, look what I can tell you is that, we’re all family friends, don’t know who’s giving you the story but the story is unfounded, in fact, do you have a blackberry, please text it to me I’ll add you right away so that we can chat further, he said.

We however sent the blackberry pin but he didn’t add the number till we went to bed. Meanwhile the source who gave us the story has promised to dig more and tell us the amazing lifestyles of the Muerer sisters, the story of their father who hails from Holland and that of their Urhobo mum.

MY WIFE TAUNTED ME TO GO BACK TO COMEDY – KSM

Kweku Sintim Misa, comedian, actor, TV host and playwright has pinned down his success in theater to a challenge his wife threw to him after he returned to Ghana.

KSM revealed his wife taunted him back into comedy which he appeared to have abandoned for radio. He was recollecting high-points of his career on Multi TV's Tarzan's Take last Sunday.

KSM told Tarzan of his promising start in acting inspired by his sister Ghanaian actress Joyce Anima Misa Amoah. " I used to follow her when she was going for rehearsals at Drama studio at the University of Ghana", he said.

Enamored by theater, he pulled off a play by writing, producing and acting out a solo performance in 1976 titled 'Mellow Madness'. He played all five characters.

KSM later travelled to the United States to study for a major in acting and directing at Trinity College in Connecticut, USA. He subsequently earned a Master of Fine Arts in film production from New York University.

But after returning to Ghana in 1997, the comedian and playwright ventured into radio.

"When I came back there was a bit of a break - because of circumstances I decided to do some radio"

He hosted Talk Shop, a dialogue on controversial national issues on Vibe FM. Despite its success, the ace comedian's wife had other ideas of what his personal success should be.

"Two years later, my wife said you [kraa] you have forgotten all your acting. You have now become a radio man... I don't know whether she was taunting me to remind me that I have a craft"

But that brief dare pushed the decorated theater man into thinking seriously about his craft.

"That inspired me to write the Saga of the Returnee, out of her daring me", he confessed.

After finishing the script in a couple of months, he produced 'the Saga of the Returnee' and it turned out to be an instant success.

The CEO of Sapphire Ghana Limited, a media content development company admits that to date, that play was the most successful he has ever done. He replayed it 13 times and all sold out.

He went on to do 'Afia Siriboe', and Politically Incorrect where KSM’s live performances use comical characters to illustrate the key social, economic and political issues concerning Ghana.

KSM has also created what has become one Ghana’s most popular talk shows: Thank God It’s Friday (TGIF).

It was the first broadcast of its kind to fuse serious talk, education and humor. Since its inception, the show has featured gripping stories from entrepreneurial street vendors, dancing presidents, pioneering scientists, leading artists, and many more exciting characters.

KSM recently won the Radio and Television Personality Television Entertainment Show Host of the Year (2011) for his work with TGIF.
