Lydia Forson on Thursday celebrated her birthday in a unique fashion and said she is proud of her looks.

The DStv Social Media Ambassador who featured in hit movies, ‘Perfect Picture’, ‘A Sting In A Stale’, ‘Masquerades’, ‘Scorned’, ‘In The Cupboard’, ‘Phone Swap’ and others, turned 29 and she is comfortable with how she looks. 


To inspire her followers to believe in their looks too, she released photos of herself without make up by Sefa Nkansah to depict the natural Lydia Forson at 29.

“I just want people to be proud of their age and what they look like that’s why I took the pictures with no makeup. Embrace your age and how you look. It’s all about, how you feel at the end of the day,” said.

EMELIA BROBBEY OPENS UP AFTER HER SHOP-LIFTING SCANDAL

Contrary to the perception by many that her alleged shop-lifting scandal in the United Kingdom (UK) about three months ago would end her career, actress Emelia Brobbey has rather been busy shooting several movies.

The mother of two has already featured in about five movies since she returned from the UK three months ago and is currently looking at seven scripts.

Emelia told Showbiz last Monday that though it never crossed her mind that the alleged theft case would ground her, she was humbled by the support from producers who have engaged her services since her return to Ghana.

“I know I am a good actress so I was never scared that what happened would prevent me from getting roles. I have so far done about five movies including Obroni Hiani and Acheampongmaa since I came back to Ghana. I must confess the producers I have worked with showed me so much love on set. This goes to testify that I am still loved despite what took place.

Known for movies such as Abrewa Bayie, Mpaebo Tiefo, Kowa Ne Kowa, Boga Aware and Asantewaa, Emelia says what happened had rather made her stronger, especially on set but wished colleague actors would stop empathizing with her because of that.

She explained that she felt bad when her colleague actors tried to console and advise her to put the past behind her.

“I know they mean well but I sometimes wish they wouldn’t talk about it. I guess they want to show me love. Anyway, I want to tell my fans to know that I am back doing what I l love to do best,” Emelia pointed out.

Emelia, who tried her hands at production with her debut ‘Frema’ under her End Time Production last year, is working on a second one titled Forgiveness. It is due for release by December.

Speaking to some of the producers who have worked with Emelia after her ordeal, Theophilus Amoabeng of Sharp Pix production who featured her in Acheampongmaa, described Emelia as a fantastic actress.

According to him, he wrote Acheampongmaa with Emelia in mind as the main character.

“No actress could have played that role better than Emelia. I don’t care what people say about her because I know her capabilities,” Theophilus stated.

Miracle Films CEO, Samuel Kwasi Nyamekye said he would soon release a movie called Emelia Amanehunu which features Emelia Brobbey.

” Emelia is a versatile actress and one of the best we have in Ghana. I am willing to use her anytime because she is good. She is disciplined and willing to learn”.

Producer, Paul Adjei of Paul Gee production also said he had three movies with Emelia in the lead and did not think those movies won’t sell because of her alleged theft case.

“Emelia is always on top of her game and I never considered whether she would sell my movie or not. I will use her any day,” Paul Gee told Showbiz.

GHANA MUSIC INDUSTRY IS FULL OF FAKE PEOPLE - R2BEES

Faisal Hakeem (Paedae) and Rashid Mugeez(Mugeez) of the hiplife/ hip-hop crew R2bees were on Caroline’s ‘YLounge’ show on Y 107.9 fm Tuesday night.

On that show, Paedae one member of the group opened up that they have received the worst press in Ghana since they started doing commercial music he went on saying the industry is full of fake people and for that reason they don’t have too many friends.

When asked by Caroline if that ignites the reason for them not featuring on tracks of other hiplife artistes, they answered that they get the invitations but they just don’t want to get very much involved in that, because they want to focus on what they doing.

A lot of people always thought R2beez was made up of a lot of people but Paedae made it clear that the group is made up of himself and Mugeez, he said that they group was formed with Isa Rashid (may his soul rest in peace) so after his death it was left with only the two of them.

They also cleared the air concerning the rumor in town that they have a beef with Samini and stating they even talked a day before.

SARKODIE TAKES FAMILY ALONG ON US TOUR

Ghanaian rapper and multiple-award winner, Sarkodie, has tagged along his mother and sister on his tour of the US alongside Ghana’s Artistes of the Year R2bees.

It’s unusual to see a Ghanaian artiste on a musical tour with a parent but the eighth richest and bankable African artiste as postulated by Forbes in 2013 is breaking grounds.

Sarkodie, took to his twitter handle to post a group picture of himself and members of his management team at the airport yesterday which included his mom and sister.

He tweeted: “I need home love so taking mum n sis with me .... jollof on tour lol”.

Madam Emma Maame Aggrey, Sarkodie’s mom has been spotted at most of her son’s shows including the VGMAs leading his support base.

Sarkodie in an earlier interview said it was because of his mom that he returns from most of his trips. This time around he has his mom, who runs a catering food joint at Tema, with him.

It is not clear when the tour would end but this weekend it begins with a show in Columbus, Ohio.

APPIETUS: KWADEE NOT MAD

Ghana’s top sound engineer Appiah Dankwah, popularly called Appietus, has waded into the controversy over whether or not hiplife sensation Okomfour Kawdee who was reported to be mentally retarded, is indeed insane.
Appietus has dared anyone who says Kawdee is mad to show up with some evidence or shut up.


“I just did some work with Kwadee and he is not in any way mad as the media is making it seem. I have worked with several musicians and I know how they behave. Kwadee did very well and delivered his lines better than some of the people who are going round saying he is mad.

“The young man is not mad. Let us stop talking this way and give him a chance. Until I see a medical report from a clinical psychologist saying Kwadee is mad, I won’t believe it because when he came to me, he did not behave like a mad man,” Appietus stated in an interaction with NEWS-ONE.

He is shocked that an attempt to defend Kwadee has earned him insults on social media and wondered why people easily get carried away by negative reports they hear about celebrities.
Interestingly, Kwadee’s mother has publicly asked her son to end his music career because it often drags him into negative deeds and not fetch him money.

NACY NOT HAPPY

One of Ghana’s most respected recording engineers and technical producers Nana Osei, better known as Nacy, has expressed regret that his No Tribe gospel group is being frequently compared, in a form of ridicule, to ‘Soul Winners’, the celebrated traditional gospel group now in crisis.

Nacy tells NEWS-ONE he has observed this unfortunate comparison by a section of the media and finds it very distasteful.

“I am not happy about this at all and I do not like the way it is done in the form of mockery. There is no bad blood whatsoever between No Tribe and Soul Winners. We are friends and brothers and if I do not speak about what is going on then it means I am enjoying it. I have called on the persons doing this to stop and I may be forced to mention names very soon,” Nacy says.

He continues: “These are some of the attitudes that have killed many gospel musicians and continue to destroy us by setting us up against one another. Unfortunate comparisons, pegging one musician against the other and making it seem as though we are competing for fame rather than doing ministry work. Where from these reports that with the emergence of No Tribe, some of the Soul Winners members have abandoned the group and joined us?

This is not true but even if a member of a group decides to join another group, what is wrong with it? If you do not understand what a musician or a music group is going through, it would be unfair to judge and I want to use your medium to make it known that I am not happy about the attempt to run down one gospel group and then compare them to No Tribe. It is wrong and must stop. ”

Nacy is currently a giant in the gospel music arena. He has recorded and produced several, if not most of the award-winning gospel singers currently making waves in the country.

His group, No Tribe, has won a tall list of enviable awards in Ghana and abroad. The Soul Winners group was thriving until its leader, Kenneth Appiah, travelled outside the country.

GHANA MOVIE AWARDS ANNOUNCES NOVEMBER 25 AS DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES

Organizers of Ghana Movie Awards, Gollywood Productions Limited, has announced a deadline for entries for the 2013 event.

Prince Tsegah, General Manager of the awards, in a release issued, said: “We wish to remind all movie producers who are interested in participating in the upcoming 4th Ghana Movie Awards, that the extended deadline for the submission of entries for the event is November 15, 2013.”

Interested producers are to download entry forms at www.ghanamovieawards.com, fill and submit it to the Film Producers Association of Ghana, (FIPAG) offices in Accra and Kumasi before November 15, 2013.

The fourth edition of the Ghana Movie Awards will come off at the Accra International Conference Centre on December 30, 2013.

The awards, which commenced in 2010, is aimed at promoting excellence in the Ghana movie industry as well as in the African region.

Fred Nuamah, the CEO of the award ceremony over the weekend, revealed the award was not just about celebrating talents in the movie industry but also had social significance.
He has pledged a sum of GH¢50,000 from Ghana Movie Awards Foundation to support Kwabena Kwabena’s “Save A Life” charity.
