I HAVE NEVER CALLED MYSELF THE BEST – OBRAFOUR

Contrary to publications last week that he still claims to be the best in the Ghanaian music scene and has changed his name to Obrafoforo, the Rap Sofo Michael known as Obrafour has debunked such stories and stated he has not changed his name neither has he claimed to be the best in Ghana.

Obrafour who made this known in an interview with Tony Best on Kumasi based KFm explained he was shocked to have seen such headlines since he never claimed to be the best and would never do that as God is the only one who installs the best.

“Who Am I to say I am the Best? Only God can make someone the best. Times change and when such times do happen, you must just accept and move on”, he said.

Touching on the change of name to Obrafoforo, the artist disclosed he has no intentions of changing his name although he only sought to give a different meaning to his name. A meaning which was more positive to reflect his new being than the known one which represents someone who beheads people in the local chieftaincy setting.

“I’m not changing my name; in any case, Obrafoforo when pronounced in a fast manner will still sound Obrafour so I see no change. Obrafoforo will only be the title of my upcoming album.”
Obrafour who had gone silent for a long while is currently working on his next album which is due soon.

“PEOPLE DON’T WANT TO INVEST IN GHANAIAN MOVIES” – JULIET IBRAHIM

Ghanaian born Lebanese Actress, Juliet Ibrahim, is calling on corporate Ghana and other investors to support the Ghana movie industry as she takes a great step into movie production.

The “Fresh face” of Ghallywood is set to premiere her first self produced movie – ‘The Number One Fan’ on October 25 at the National Theatre.

In an interview with XFM’s David Apinga, the screen goddess bemoaned the difficulty and frustrations she went through in her quest to secure sponsorship for the movie.

“I wanted the movie to be the best out of Ghana. We approached people for sponsorship but was always go come, go come. We did get Royal Furnitures and Wonda World Estate who made the movie look so glamorous, people thought we shot in South Africa. People don’t want to believe in you [producers] and invest into movies anymore and that concept we have to change. Starting from this movie, I believe people will get to know that there is a lot you can do if you have the support of corporate companies helping producers,” she intimated.

The 27 year old mother of one revealed that her experience with fans inspired her to produce the movie. According to her,” The Number One Fan is a story I came up with through experience. Being a celebrity I have everybody who just run into me and go like, I’m your number one fan. I get to hear that a lot and I sat down one day to think that okay, who is really the number one fan because some will say it and if you don’t respond to them or you don’t take them serious, they get angry and start insulting you. That means you are not a true fan so who is really a true fan? That was the whole motive behind the story”.

Juliet Ibrahim says she was motivated to go into movie production because the country needs more producers in order to churn out quality movies to match up with Nollywood and other big movie industries.

She also noted that her outfit is aimed at nurturing and creating opportunities especially for ladies to prevent them from falling prey to unscrupulous male producers who take advantage of them sexually before giving them roles.

Juliet shot to fame in 2005 with her début in the phenomenal movie “Crime to Christ” starring alongside star actor Majid Michael. She has since starred in several movies including : In The Eyes of My Husband (2007), Royal Storm (2009), Naked Weapon (2009), Queen’s Pride (2009), Princess Rihanna (2010), 4play(2010), 4play reloaded (2010) and Crazy Scandal (2010).

The number one fan exposes the life of an average African movie star. It highlights the love from fans, hatred from colleagues and the very real problems that some face in their homes.

The movie features a lead character, Lala Gam-Hammond (actress) who got bored with her acting career after winning multiple awards. She announces her retirement in order to start a family with her husband. In her pursuit of happiness, absolute tragedy strikes, and not without foul play. With so many suspects, who’s to blame? Where do you start?

The number one fan is filled with suspense and intrigue. It features great stars from both Ghana and Nigeria, the likes of Juliet Ibrahim herself, Yemi Blaq, Selly of Big Brother Africa fame, Keitta of Big Brother Africa fame , Zainab Sheriff of Big Brother Africa fame, AY The Comedian, KC Ejelonu, Emmanuel Mensah, Kofi Adjorlolo, Stephanie Owusu, Narsh Smith, Prince David Osei, Eddie Nartey, Ruweida Yakubu and Introducing Sonia Ibrahim.

The Premiere will be hosted by Bassey of BBA The Chase fame. Touching on the premiere, Juliet Ibrahim said it is one of a kind as the audience will get to enjoy musical performances from top musicians like D Black, R2bees, Jupitar, Chris Waddle and so much more surprises.

People who purchase the VIP tickets will also get some gifts from the sponsors of the premiere and some lucky fans will get a dinner date with the Producer , Juliet Ibrahim.

I WANT TO BE A BILLIONAIRE – RAQUEL

Super stars in showbiz often desire to leave lasting legacies: The best in their field, their humanitarian side and for their wealth and fame. Sultry Ghanaian singer, Raquel, has settled for wealth and fame.

She told Showbiz last Monday that she wants to see her name on the list of richest people on earth. “I want to be remembered not just for my good works as a good musician, but one who was very influential and rich.

“Anytime I take a reflection on my life and where I am heading to, I just tell God to give me the strength to work harder to make the wealth I have been craving for. I want God to bless my handiworks and crown my toil with success. I want to be mentioned just like the Oprah Winfreys and the Bill Gates. I want to be a billionaire. That has been my prayer” she stated.

The Sweetio hit maker said her wish to be very wealthy has nothing to do with material things but a long time passion of helping the underprivileged and making life meaningful for others.
“I get really down when I see people suffering with no one to assist them and these things motivate me to work harder to make a lot of money so that I can be a blessing to them” she added.
Raquel said that whatever modest success she has achieved has been as a result of hard work and regular practice.

Raquel may be enjoying all the praises now for being one of the most sought after female artistes in the country today but the Lovi Dovi singer is still smouldering from the unpleasant experience at Citi FM’s Decemba 2 Rememba concert in 2011 where a wardrobe malfunction exposed her private parts to her audience.

Touching on what she termed as “unholy incident” after almost two years, Raquel told Showbiz it was an unpleasant experience which she doesn’t want to remember because most people judged her wrongly based on that.

“It hurts to hear people make wrong judgement because of one incident which wasn’t intentional.
Even though she is yet to receive any award, Raquel is poised to grab an award at this year’s 4syte Music Video Awards after being nominated in the Best Female Video and Best Storyline categories respectively.
