JOSELYN DUMAS & JOHN DUMELO MAKE DEBUT IN ‘NORTHERN AFFAIR’

Upcoming Christmas film, ‘Northern Affair’ started on Friday with award-winning cast of popular actor, John Dumelo playing the heartthrob of celebrated TV anchor and actress, Joselyn Dumas.

Although the two stars have acted together in the past, this is the first time they are paired as lovebirds and they are attacking their roles with their professional best.

They also looked a very good pair too in the movie which stars Joselyn Dumas as Esaba Jomo, a nurse who teams up with John Dumelo as Dr. Manuel Quagraine in a small fishing village to provide healthcare.

Sparks fly and the two begin to fall in love. But each one has a dark secret that will threaten whatever love they will share.

The script was written by Leila Djansi and the role of Manuel was earlier announced to be played by Nigeria’s Yemi Blaq who interestingly played doctor in Leila's ‘Sinking Sands’.

Also starring in the film is ace TV presenter, Jon Germaine. Other cast will be announced shortly. The film is produced by Access Media, headed by Mabel Germain.

Shooting began last Friday in Tema and production will move to other locations in some isolated communities in upcoming weeks.

WHO WANTS SUPER O.D DEAD?

Veteran actor Asonaba Kweku Darko, popularly known as Super OD has lamented the pervasive rumours in the media that he is dead. He said it as disheartening and unfortunate that some Ghanaians appeared to wish him death.
The actor was speaking in an exclusive interview with Myjoyonline.com Tuesday morning in the wake of another rumour that he is dead.
Speaking from his base in Agona Swedru, in the Central region, Super OD said he was well but was shocked to hear the rumours.

According to the actor, who says he is 70 years plus, his phones have been beeping nonstop since the early hours of Tuesday with several persons calling to verify the authenticity of the reports.
The Osafo Dadzi television star bemoaned the culture where people constantly announce his death without verification.
He said he was still strong and had been resting at home after finishing his last production, 'God's Will,' last year.
Meanwhile Michael Kwaku Ola, Public Relations Officer of the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG), who announced that the actor was dead has retracted the comments.
Speaking to Myjoyonline.com, he said he got a call from close relations of Super OD that he was dead and therefore went ahead to make it public.
Michael Kwaku Ola noted that after speaking to the veteran actor personally, he thought it proper to retract the comments.

AFIA SCHWARZENEGGER RESIGNS FROM ‘TV3 MUSIC MUSIC’

Afia Schwarzenegger has written to the management of TV3 announcing her resignation as co-host of the entertainment show, ‘Music Music’.

Read an unedited letter to management of the television station:

“I write to inform you of my resignation as a Presenter of Music Music with effect from the 1st of October, 2013.

This is due to the fact that I clearly informed the Brands Manager that I have an outstanding contract with Despite Group of Companies before I signed the dotted lines with TV3. It appears you now have a problem with that.

As a result, I cannot abrogate my contract with Despite Group of Companies especially when TV3 is not ready to refund the amount to Despite Group. I will like to appreciate you for the opportunity given me.

2RAS RIDICULES 4SYTE MVA’S ORGANIZERS

This might sound more of a cliché as many artists have continuously expressed and will to continue to express their grievances at the release of nominations for various award schemes that excludes their works especially after a hard work done in a particular year under review.

2ras known widely for his hit singles Mede Bebom which featured legendary hiplife artist Obrafour and First Love which also featured Praye would not take lightly as his video to First Love was excluded from the nominees list for the 2013 edition of the MTN/4Syte TV Music Video Awards as he took to social networking site Twitter to express his disgust at the incidence.

Few minutes after the list was published, the artist replied our tweet with his concern stating that the multimedia outfit 4Syte had lost its ‘sight’ and was now operating as ‘PoorSyte.’

BIG BROTHER THE CHASE UPDATE: SELLY GETS FIRST STRIKE FOR POURING BOOZE ON POKELLO

Ghana’s female rep in the on-going BBA The Chase, Selly on Tuesday evening received a strong warning from Big Brother after she poured a glass of wine on the head of Zimbabwean rep, Pokello with absolutely no provocation during the Channel O party on Saturday night.

Big Brother showed the uncut footage of Selly’s uncalled behavior to all the Ruby housemates to which Selly revealed in her diary room session with Biggie that her behaviour was not meant to provoke the Zimbabwean. She said, “I poured alcohol over Pokello’s head to show her that she was really dancing well. I didn’t do it to provoke her because we get along. I realized later that she didn’t find it amusing. We have spoken about it and I have apologised”, she said.

Selly went on to reveal how she does the same in Ghana when her friends excel on the dance floor. Biggie threatened to disqualify the Ghanaian housemate if she did not adhere to the laws of the game.

GHANA’S FIRST NATIONAL CARNIVAL TO HIT ACCRA ON JUNE 29

The Ghana Centre for Carnival Arts is partnering the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts to stage Ghana’s first National Carnival this June.

Carnivals, the world over, typically involve a public celebration or parade combining some elements of a circus, mask and public street party. People often dress up or masquerade during the celebrations.

National carnivals are held the world over and organisers say fun-lovers in Ghana must not be deprived of the excitement that comes with such events.

Paa Kwasi Kwao, Project Manager for Ghana Centre for Carnival Arts told Myjoyonline.com in an interview that the introduction of the festival was borne out of the successes chalked up by representatives from Ghana to the Luton Carnival in the UK.

According to him, his CEO, Maria Lovell’s cultural troupe has represented Ghana at the Luton Carnival in UK for some years now and the fact that the group has been “able to win the Luton Carnival for three conservative times,” is enough reason to hold one in Ghana.

Paa Kwasi Kwao said the 3-day event will kick off with a Costume Launch on Friday, June 28 at Afrikiko Gardens, followed by the main carnival on Saturday, June 29 and then an after party on June 30 at the Larbadi Beach.

Activities for the carnival includes a route march starting from the Obra Spot at Kwame Nkrumah Circle through Ring Road Central to the Osu Oxford Street where there will be cultural displays and an awards ceremony.

Events for June 29 will end at the Independence Square where there will be a food bazaar and a live concert. Artistes billed to perform at the live concert include, Bandana, Blakk Rasta, Dr Slim, and Screw Face.

The after-party at the La Pleasure Beach on June 30 will feature a rare performance by world renowned Steel Pan Band from Trinidad and Tobago.

Organisers say the carnival will centre on Ghanaian and African culture and there will be representations from all the 10 regions of Ghana. Ghanaian culture and costumes will take centre-stage at the event.

The Ghana Carnival 2013 is under the theme: Carnival, Promoting Cultural Diversity and National Cohesion and Paa Kwasi Kwao explained that it is aimed at diversifying the country’s tourism and cultural products, and highlighting Ghana’s cultural identity.

He added that the event will also seek to build a linkage between the creative arts and other sectors of the economy, and create employment and income opportunities for Ghanaians.

Apart from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, the Ghana Carnival 2013 is also supported by the Ghana Society and UK Centre for Carnival Arts, Ghana Tourism Authority, Ghana Tourist Development Company, Berlin Carnival Club, Government of Trinidad and Tobago and a host of others.
