City People Entertainment
Awards has released nominations for its 2013 edition of the award
ceremony organized by The City People Media Group.
The award which organizers say is the fourth of its kind is scheduled
to take place at The Haven in Ikeja, Lagos on Sunday, July 14, 2013.
The award ceremony is expected to draw about 2,500 guests as well as
top showbiz celebrities from Nigeria and Ghana and other parts of the
world.
The City People Entertainment Awards has, arguably, been
the biggest showbiz event in Nigeria since its inception four years
ago. The weight of the annual event is not in doubt because it is the
only awards event that covers showbiz in its entirety.
Since the outfit is also a beneficiary source of entertainment from both
Nigerians and Ghanaians, over the years, Ghanaian celebrities have been

M3nsa Wants Raquel
Ghanaian musician M3nsa of Foes of Kwame
Nkrumah (FOKN) Bois fame has confessed that if he is allowed to pick one
female Ghanaian celebrity on a romantic weekend getaway, he would
gladly choose songstress Raquel.
M3nsa who is referred to as the Lyrical twin of Wanlov the Kubolor made this revelation on a Television programme stating that it would be easy for Raquel and himself to get alone if the said romantic weekend getaway is made a reality.
“Me di3 me p3 cheap side so I will go for Raquel because already I have seen her ‘tin’ so we can move on to the next ‘tin’.”
It can be recalled that about two years ago, the Ghanaian songstress Raquel went on stage and displayed her fat, juicy and hairy vagina to the whole world. The ‘Sweetie’ hit maker who initially denied displaying her vagina admitted that perhaps it was a wardrobe malfunction.
But interestingly that so-called wardrobe malfunction is the very thing that got M3nsa interested in Raquel.
M3nsa who is known in real life as Bondzie Mensa Ansah also recounted how at age 14, his high school sweetheart broke his heart.
“The girl that I used to love when I was 14yrs travelled to the America of Bronx and called me one day to tell me that she was in America and I was in Ghana but she doesn’t know if I will ever travel to America in my life so we should just stop here. Mysteriously, as soon as she said that to me, there was light off,” M3nsa said.

Bass Award Disqualify Samini
Reports making rounds in Ghana’s entertainment
cycle say organizers of the upcoming Bass Awards have disqualified two
hot songs of popular Ghanaian dancehall artiste Emmanuel Andrew Samini
on reasons of profanity.
On Saturday, Rackus Productions which is organizing the awards in collaboration Bullhaus Entertainment and Solid Multimedia released nominations.
But Samini’s hot songs, ‘Body Flame’ featuring Kaakie and ‘Papistic’, were conspicuously missing in the nominations.
Sources said the songs were taken out due to its lyrical content, which was described as “profane”.
Sources close to the organizers told NEWS-ONE that Samini did not take the development kindly.
He had almost pulled out of the award after a confidant notified him that the songs were disqualified on grounds of “profanity”.
It however took the invention of organizers to explain issues to him to before he was calmed down.
“He was pulling out of the award but they had to explain issues to him before he decided to let things go,” the source added.
Meanwhile, the Dagaati crooner got some nomination with his songs including ‘Time Bomb’ featuring Wizkid, ‘Dadiekye’ and ‘Climax’, which he was featured on by Stonebwoy.
He also got nominations for Kwame Nkrumah Award (Artiste Of The Year(s), Best Performer (Reggae/Dancehall, Best Dancehall Artiste And Music Video Of The Year(s) – Dancehall categories.
The 2013 Bass Awards will come off at the National Theatre in Accra on July 6, 2013, where African Dancehall and Reggae artistes who have done exceptionally well between 2010 and 2012 will be awarded.
This will be preceded by a nominees jam at the Accra Sports Stadium on July 5, 2013, with performances from artistes including Samini, Stonebwoy, Kaakie and Jupiter.
If Samini had pulled out of the event that would have been a second blow to the award ceremony after Bandana had earlier announced his exit even before nominations came out.

Iwan Endorse BASS Awards
Ghanaian Afro dancehall artiste Iwan has
applauded the organisers of the Bass Awards for coming up with a concept
to reward musicians in the Reggae and Dancehall industry.
The Award winning Dancehall artist who got nominated for Best Collaboration in Dancehall Song category tasked the organisers to take their time and organise the event such that it would not seem like Ghanaian artiste were chasing awards.
Speaking to enewsgh, Iwan stated that: “Any organization that has got that love and energy to back a good cause like the Reggae and Dancehall industry should take time to recognize those people who lifted and held the banner all this while. Other than telling artists to come pick forms and fill and submit, portraying a picture like Ghanaian artist are chasing awards. Nonetheless I think they are doing a great job.”
Iwan also stated that unless there is a category to shine light on a fusion of a Hip Hop, Gospel or Hip Life artist and a Reggae or Dancehall artist, it would be unfair to those who have dedicated their careers and life to the Reggae and Dancehall genres if anyone outside the said genre is awarded at the event.
“If it’s a night for Reggae and Dancehall industry, no Hip Life, Gospel or Hip Hop artist should hijack the categories, unless there is a category to shine light on a fusion of a Hip Hop, Gospel or Hip Life artist and a Reggae or Dancehall artist. On the night, if awards are going to be dished out to artists from different genres other than Reggae and Dancehall because they recorded a Reggae or Dancehall tune in their album that will be unfair to those who have dedicated their careers and life to these genres,” Iwan noted.
The maiden edition of the BASS Awards which is organized by Rackus Productions and powered by Bullhaus Entertainment and Solid Multimedia is slated for July 6.

Pressure on Ini Edo’s Marriage
Nigeriafilms.com reports that pressure is
being mounted on beautiful actress Ini Edo to give birth or prepare to
quit her marriage.
“Ini Edo is not a happy woman at the moment. The reason is that if urgent steps are not taken, her marriage might crumble and she would join the league of Nollywood actress with failed marriages.
Grapevines alleged that pressure is being mounted on her handsome husband, Philip Ehigwina, by his family members to dump the charming actress. Ini Edo’s in-laws are not happy that the glamorous actress hasn’t given them a child after about four years of marriage,” Nigeriafilms.com reported.
“These Edo people are just too funny, they have already told Philip to chase away Ini Edo since she can’t give them a child,” the website’s source claimed.
“But come to think of it, why would Ini Edo’s in-laws interfere with her marriage?” This was quickly answered by the first busy-body, “that’s Edo culture for you. Their sons don’t have much say in their marriages,” another source stated.
“We were told by the industry grapevines that Ini Edo has been telling some of her close allies that with the way things are going; Philip might eventually give in to his family’s demands. Tale bearers further told us that after Ini Edo attended her hubby’s late mother’s burial in April 2013, things have really not been well with the once upon a time happy couple.”
However, the actress has denied that her marriage is being troubled. She told Nigeriafilms.com that the story was an unfounded rumour.
According to the Akwa-Ibom-born beauty, “no matter what you people (press) write, it is not going to change the fact that I am happily married. I think you guys should be tired of all these. From the first day I got married, you people have been plotting all sort of evils, I don’t know why you are not giving up on it. It is never going to happen. That’s what I have to say”.
